There's nothing wrong with Adelaide's life. There's nothing wrong with being cheated on. After all, half of marriages end in divorce and most end from infidelity. There's nothing wrong with getting addicted to an otome game. After all, everybody has something they're obsessed with. There's nothing wrong with reincarnating as the villainess instead of the heroine. After all, the villainess is richer and more powerful. There's nothing wrong with the villainess chasing after one of the love interests. After all, it's not like he's the canon route. There's nothing wrong with Ophelia's life.

Departing

Time passes as I recover.

Lucas spends every night sitting by my bed.

Sometimes he'll lie down beside me.

Others, he sits at my bedside or reads.

Whatever it is, he's there, and I never ask why.

Every few days he heads out to grab supplies or handle some other minor detail, and I only ask him once why he bothers to stay, but the smile on his face tells me I've said something incredibly foolish.

We spend more than a week and a half at the clinic while my body heals.

Lucas tells me not to worry, that he's sent word to Carleon of what's happened.

I'm worried anyway: The King said it would only take a few months, at most, before the Tear would be fully powered.

Granted, the attack on the Capitol and the strange happenings around the different towns make it seem that this 'Vesperian' is not simply biding his time and resisting the temptation to use the Tear at all.
