The Test

*RRIIINNNNGGGGG*

'Oh thank Kami the day's over with' thought Sanosuke just as the end of school bell rang and immediately got up, gathered his things, and power walked out of the class once they bowed to their teacher and thanked him for the lesson.

With the his big size, intimidating presence, and him slightly leaking battle lust due to how excited he was for the fight later today, the other students immediately moved out of his way in an effort to get away from him. Which, frankly at this point Sanosuke was used to and long since stopped caring what they think of him.

'Now let's pick up the pace a little, a brisk jog home to get the cardio warm-up over with while forcing the muscles to work against each other will cover the rest. Let's do this!'.

With this thought in mind, Sanosuke quickly swapped his shoes at the locker and jogged at a brisk pace, although he was moving so fast that he was even passing cars on the road without effort, to the shock of pedestrians.

In just a couple minutes, Sanosuke made it back to his home in record time before going to his room to change into his Gi and put away his things. Then, he excitedly power walked his way to the massive dojo building next to his home on their property.

Once he walked inside the entrance way, he took off his shoes, put them on the shoe rack and walked into the main part of the dojo. It is there that he saw his mother, grandfather and three senior masters of the Dojo, masters Liu Wan, Jim Black, and Riku Nanoka, waiting for him while drinking some tea at the corner table where applicants usually fill out forms.

Upon entering, the very short brown haired, green eyes and tanned skin, middle aged Caucasian man looked up and greeted him.

"Hmm, eager as ever I see. Good. Anyways, good afternoon Master Hanma."

As soon as he was addressed, Sanosuke looked over at the man and greeted him back.

"Good afternoon to you as well Master Black. Thank you for coming as witness to this test. Also, I want to thank Master Wan and Master Nanoka for coming as well."

Hearing this, Jim nodded to Sanosuke along with the tall, muscular, white haired Fishman looking man on Jim's right, as well as the pretty green haired, blue eyed, and dark tanned slender woman in Jim's left, whom are Masters Wan and Nanoka respectively.

Once he finished interacting with his fellow Masters, Sanosuke turned his attention to his mother and grandfather, before cupping his hands in front of him and bowing respectfully.

"Good afternoon, Master Hanma greets and presents himself before Grandmaster Hanma and Grandmaster Furinji."

Seeing Sanosuke's sign of respect to their station and formality, both of them nod before performing a shallow bow in return, allowing Sanouske to stand straight again before his mother addressed him.

"Good afternoon Master Hanma, as you are well aware, today you are undergoing your ranking test. Should you pass, you will be promoted from Master to Grandmaster, the third one of this Dojo and will be allowed to create your own school should you desire."

"Over the years that you have trained at this Dojo, you have shown great talent, potential, and dedication to the art, rising through the ranks quickly until this moment in time."

"For this test, you must perform all of our styles technique's, forms, and katas for our review. Then you must show your mastery of said skills in battle against either myself or Grandmaster Furinji. To be clear, you do not have to win to be promoted, you just have to show you have the ability, wisdom and skill."

"Before we start, three of your peers will be witnesses to this event. In this instance, they are Master Black, Master Wan, and Master Nanoka."

Upon being addressed, all three masters momentarily stood up and bowed, both to the Grandmasters and to Sanosuke, which Sanosuke reciprocated before returning his attention back to his mother. However, it want her who started talking this time, but rather the massive 7ft 6in tall elderly blond muscular giant of man dressed in green with a long, well groomed beard who spoke.

"Master Sanosuke, you will be granted ten minutes to warm-up before we start your test. In the first half, you are to first go through all of the style's stances, then the forms, and finally katas. Each with a small break between each portion so that they can be reviewed."

Once he finished speaking, the elderly giant with an intimidating presence of POWER sat back down in his seat along with Grandmaster Hanma whom had long since sat back down.

Nodding his head in understanding, Sanosuke quickly walked to the other side of the room and starting doing some stretches. Once his warm-up period was over, he then immediately walked to the center of the huge dojo and stood straight with his legs shoulder length apart and his arms kept against his sides, waiting for the test to begin with an intense expression of seriousness and concentration while emitting an aura of power, determination and suppressed excitement that everybody could feel.

Seeing that he was ready, Grandmaster Furinji nodded his head and spoke.

"Begin!"

As soon as he was told to start, Sanosuke quickly started going through all of his styles stances smoothly yet explosively and perfectly controlled, before holding them for a couple seconds so that they could be observed and mentally critiques by both the grandmasters and all three master witnesses.

This continued for roughly ten minutes before Sanosuke finished his assigned task due to just how many stances were in the style.

Seeing this, both grandmasters nodded in appreciation without finding flaw, while the masters were just quietly observing from the side with impressed looks on their face.

After a minute or so of silence, Sansoke's mother, grandmaster Hanma, nodded again at Sanosuke for him to move on the the next portion of his test, Forms.

Once he received sign to continue, Sanosuke immediately started going through all of his styles Forms even more quickly, explosively yet controlled with perfectly smooth transitions between each form than with the stances, since now there are more continuous movements between them all.

After yet another ten minutes or so, he had completed his set task and waited patiently for the signal to continue on to the katas portion of the test, which was given almost immediately by the satisfied grandmaster Furinji.

For the next 20 minutes, Sanosuke performed Kata after Kata without flaw, each Kata flowing perfectly into the next with an aura of controlled power and ferocity that makes one think of a monsterous beast that was about to be unleashed and dominate all who oppose it.

Finally, Sanosuke completed the last Kata of his style before standing still, exactly where he first started in the middle of the dojo yet not even having a single bead of sweat on his brow despite all the movements he just did.

By now, the three masters were extremely impressed by what they saw, while both grandmaster Hanma and grandmaster Furinji were themselves very proud and satisfied with Sanosuke's performance, since they didn't see a single flaw or misstep during it.

After a moment of closely observing Sanosuke, both grandmasters stood up and walked in front of him, before grandmaster Furinji spoke once again.

"Good, very good. You have passed the first half of the Test for Ranking Up perfectly.

Now it is time for the second half. Combat. For this test you may choose whom you wish to fight against. To be clear, this will be a FIGHT, not a spar. The only rule is no killing blows or trying for dismemberment as Master Black can heal us back to full health from everything else. Now, whom do you pick?"

Without even hesitating and with an almost frighteningly ferocious smile (read: terrifying) on his face, and his eyes shining brightly with fighting intent, Sanosuke states his choice.

"I request to fight with you, grandmaster Furinji".

Nodding his head with an almost excited smile of his own, Elder Furinji answered him while walking several meters away from Sanosuke until he stood across from him.

"Very well, then for this test, grandmaster Hanma shall be the referee to make sure that we follow the rules and also to observe you and how you perform from an outside of the fighting perspective."

Nodding her head, grandmaster Hanma stood between them and raised her hand but waited for the two of them to get ready.

Once she noticed that they were ready, she immediately dropped her hand and shouted.

"Hajime!"

With both participants immediately dashing forward towards each other and collided with their fists, creating a large shockwave that blew everybody else but themselves off of their feet and into the far off dojo walls, albeit grandmaster Hanma was only forced back several meters because she dug in her feet.

After that first exchange, you could see the massive smiles on both juggernauts' faces before they seemingly disappeared and reappeared at random all over the dojo, only being seen when they clash against each other (...is this Dragon Ball now? Oops).

This was due to both fighters moving about and attacking at speeds exceeding Mach 2 and clashing against attacks powerful enough to destroy entire city blocks, each. This causing continuous, massive shockwaves that were buffeting the bystanders nonstop and causing them damage just from being in the same vicinity as them.

Even creating huge holes, craters and gouges in the walls, floor and ceiling where they clashed, with the only reason the place wasn't already obliterated being the special materials it is made of that is countless times stronger than titanium.

'Damn! I wasn't expecting for Sanosuke to have improved so much! He is even forcing father to take him somewhat seriously! Maybe 25% of his power, but what's frightening is that Sanosuke is adapting and improving in the middle of the fight! Sigh, just like Yujiro."

These were the thoughts running through Akane's mind while getting the masters to safety outside the dojo, while she herself stood in the doorway to continue observing the fight, which was picking up in speed and ferocity, with each fighter becoming more and more destructive as the battle continued.

It was at this point that Sanosuke couldn't contain himself any longer and let loose his immense, terrifying fighting intent and battle lust while laughing loudly as he and his grandfather fought.

"Hahahahahahah!!!! Yes! This is what I have been waiting for! You never disappoint granmpa! Hahaha! It's only with you that I get to truly go all out against! Not even Toshinori can keep up with me if I really let loose! He has the power, speed and durability, but he just doesn't have the skill and instinct like we do! Hahaha, let's kick it up a notch!!"

Upon saying this, Sanosuke released an aura of a beast, with it taking an illusionary form of a massive red Oni behind him, creating a frightening aura of domination and the desire for battle, to overcome and sate its battle lust.

While Elder Furinji just laughed his Santa-like laugh before releasing his own overwhelming aura that gave the illusion of a mighty dragon that seemed to just exude overwhelming power and majesty caused by a lifetime of battles, training and wisdom from living life.

"I can say the same my boy! There are very few who can handle even a fraction of my power and skill, let alone the 30% you are doing right now! And improving and adapting mid battle at that! Hohoho! Truly your are a marvelous warrior in the making! No. You are a marvelous warrior already!!"

"You have definitely proved yourself ready to become a grandmaster. But now, I wish to see for myself just how far you have come. Hoho! Bring it on grandson, this old man will teach you a lesson in just how far you still have to go! Hohoho!"

Saying that, the battle impossibly grew even more fierce, with each fighter throwing around hundreds of attacks every second with the intent to seriously harm the other. It was a thing of beauty to Akane, as she was watching her son, long since surpassed her in ability, continue to fight and grow in front of her while having the time of his life.

'Sigh, he REALLY is a little TOO much like his father.... sigh. The dojo is officially destroyed now. That's going to cost a few million yen to repair.'

As she was thinking this, Akane had a fond smile of exasperation and love on her face and in her eyes as she watched her son slowly losing ground, even as he continued to laugh and smile as her father started ramping up the ante.

More and more did Elder Furinji unleash his power and skill before finally, after over an hour of fighting (and her having to turn away the police and several heroes multiple times with the help of the three masters, since no, they aren't being attacked and no, they aren't setting of explosives), grandmaster Furinji landed a knockout punch to the back of Sanosuke's head that ended the fight.

Seeing this, and the injuries both possessed (thankfully nothing serious, just some broken bones, cuts and bruises all over their bodies, albeit much more apparent on Sanosuke with Elder Furinji just looking like he had a good workout and only finished a spar, not a fight), Akane calmly walked over, followed by the now terrified yet awe-struck trio of masters.

"Hohoho! That was a great match! I believe I don't even have to ask or debate on this, but for formality sake, what do you think? Should he be promoted to Grandmaster, grandmaster Hanma? I myself believe he has shown to be more than ready for the title Hohoho!"

Smiling, Akane answered her father calmly but with unmistakable pride in her voice.

"Yes, I do believe he has earned it as well. Once he has been healed by Master Black and wakes up, we should tell him to good news. But while we are waiting, why don't you create the Grandmaster certification and paperwork for it, while I call the construction company to have them come and fix the damages you two caused in your fight."

"Hohoho! Very well. It won't take but a few minutes anyways. But really, your son has come a very long way in such as short time. I cannot wait to see just how far he goes in the future. Hohohoho!"
