Chapter 42...Phoenix

Jack didn't mind it and let Charles talk it out with his buddies and waited for an answer to his questions, He wouldn't let anything happen to Jean as she was one of his only friends, his first friend to be exact.

'Charles are you sure about this, no one understands what is happening to her' said Ororo

to Charles and the others that were telepathically connected

'We have tried every remedy and nothing is working' told Beast

'That doesn't mean we let a nobody experiment on her' Said Cyclops, he seemed pretty mad

'Cyclops Calm down will ya?' said Wolverine

'Besides, I think we can trust this guy' said Wolverine

'TRUST HIM! he has no identity whatsoever Ororo called out

'Come on, he is the only person we have met that hasn't tried to gut us' chuckled wolverine

The X-Men were the kind of people who were being crushed between the brotherhood and the organisation of the world, everyone was after them and wanted a piece of them, that had expected a flashback from the vigilante after he found out about them but nothing happened after that and they were convinced that there was some good in people.

After what felt like 5 minutes, Charles finally opened his eyes and smiled at Jack who had a look on him that said, I know what you were doing

"Please forgive me for my behaviour, it's just that the situation is dire and we don't know what to do anymore"

Every word spoken by Charles was making Jack go crazy, he was starting to think about various things that could have happened, he didn't even contact Jean but that was on Charles.

Charles had left no social link for Jack to follow and get in touch with Jean, his normal identity could not have any contact with Jean.

"As you know, you are somewhat of a miracle doctor nowadays, in a month, you have cured several incurable diseases" Charles led Jack and they went for the hallways as Charles started his monologue.

Jack had no way of becoming even with Charles since his own identity and that of Cedric was different.

With a bit of small talk, Jack was led in front of a metallic door that had a huge X on it.

"But this is a little different, we don't even know if you can cure it, it involves the mind," said Charles, Jack had all the clues to understand what was going on, the Phoenix was happening.

"And why didn't you tell me sooner, "asked Jack

" We didn't have the time, there has been some problem with our neighbourly enemies" Charles avoided the topic.

Charles put his hands on the scanner and the door opened horizontally, the door opened up to a spacious area, with a single bed in the middle on which a redhead was lying down.

Various machinery was beeping around her.

'What the heck happened to you' though Jack as he rushed towards Jean who was on the bed.

He didn't even mind the others that were standing beside her.

Cyclops was about to stop him but was then stopped by a massage from Charles.

Jack slowly touched Jean, she seemed to be in pain, Jack immediately cast some spells on her body and checked for any problems.

As expected, there was a heavy burden on her head, especially her frontal lobe.

'It's the Phoenix, but thank God she hasn't been sealed like in the movies or else'

Jack looked at Charles and the others, slowly he walked our followed by Beast, Cyclops, Charles and Wolverine.

"So..."

"She is under pressure, did she overexert herself recently or anything like that" asked jack, maybe Charles hasn't felt the presence of the Phoenix yet and therefore, he hasn't sealed her abilities yet.

Jack knew the best course was for Jean to not be sealed by Charles or the situation will worsen, he will have to look for the Ancient One, or he will have to go ahead and somehow buy a strong potion, one that can deal with someone that could strengthen your psyche. There was no such potion in existence but Jack decided to hand over a bunch of potions that dealt with headaches and head tumours in hope that it may help her.

He also handed over a device similar to his to Xavier and asked him to use it for Jean, the device would seal her powers in case she went into her overdrive.

Jack was about to leave when Charles asked what he wanted from the start

"Don't get me wrong young hero, but why are you going so far to help this person"

said Charles with a pause, "A person you just met"

Jack looked at Charles and said "Isn't that the whole idea of what a hero is" said Charles as he flew away.

'plus she is my friend' thought Jack and disappeared into the night, looks like he will have to find the New York Sanctum and have a talk with Yao, to try and get her to train Jean or whatever.

Jack was sure the Ancient one would agree right away once she finds out about the Phoenix force that resides in Jean
