The dawn had come, but the sun was still asleep., Vanessa woke up.. She rolled on the bed for a while, not wanting to accept that sleep was over, but then when she realized that sleep was not coming back anytime soon, she rolled herself out of bed, walked over to the window..
"it's another day here in Sitka... She mumbled to herself, breathing in the fresh air of a brand new day...
She wrapped herself in her bed sheet, and lazily walked out of her room.. She walked over to Jenny's room, and the lady was still peacefully sleeping... "tsk.. Isn't it about time you woke up... She gruffed, rolling her eyes annoyingly as she walked over to aunt Margaret's room... And to her annoyance, the old lady was still sleeping too...
" This ain't fair.., why am I the only one awake so early and they are sound asleep.. She mumbled as she walked over to the kitchen to get water... She opened the fridge like she had a personal problem with it before, took out the water, and slammed it shut...
"ahhh.. She shrieked as the cold water touched her mouth.. Maybe I'll have hot tea instead.. She thought to herself...
She looked around for the kettle., she found it, she stretched to take it but then her bedsheet pulled a pile of spoons and other kitchen utensils, making them crash to the ground with a loud clanking noise...
"shhhhh... She placed a finger over her mouth, hushing the objects like she was actually hushing a human being.. She wouldn't want to wake them up..
'or would she'... A mischievous smirk swept across her face., as the crazy thought came to head...
She picked up some pots, the spoons and other utensils.. Lifted them high above her head.., then slammed them to the ground, causing the loud resounding clanks to echo through the house..
Jenny bolted out of bed, running downstairs to find out what happened.., and so did Margaret.. They came running with utmost speed..
"what happened.. are you hurt.. Margaret said as she reached the kitchen and saw Vanessa bent on the floor picking up the things that laid on the ground.. She looked up at them with those innocent puppy eyes of hers...
" oh I'm so sorry, aunt Margaret.. Did I wake you.. I didn't mean to., I just wanted to make tea and I mistakenly knocked all this things down.. She explained..
" oh Vanessa, you scared me.. And your noise woke me up... Jenny said glaring at Vanessa...
" I'm sorry, I didn't mean to.. It was a mistake.. She said again..
"it's okay.., it's not like you did it on purpose just to wake me up., I mean you're not that crazy...
You don't know., she is that crazy...
" you guys go back to bed., I'll clean up this mess.. She bent down to continue picking up the pots and spoons, with the sly grin on her face, not noticeable to the two people standing.
" well it's already morning, and sleep already left me.. So I guess my day has began... Margaret said walking away..
" yeah.., it started with a pot alarm.. She scoffed... "you didn't do this on purpose did you?? She looks at her friend with questioning eyes..
" of course not, I told you it was a mistake.. Why would I do that....
"okay.., I'll believe you.. Let me go wash up.. She said and walked away..
When Vanessa saw that they were out of sight., she started punching the air in victory.." Yes.. Yes.. I did it.." she said laughing like a mischievous little child..
She made her tea, and went out to the veranda. The sun had slowly taken its place in the sky.. The early morning sky as always was a beauty to behold.. She sat there smiling to herself, taking in the whole view.., sipping hot tea, reminiscing her little mischievous act.. She had to say, apart from the times she was reminded of Mark., staying here in Sitka was quite relaxing.. She had less things to think of.. It was like a vacation from reality.. Only one reality still follows her, and it was that she and Mark were over.. She sometimes wonder if maybe., just maybe they could ever get back together.. But she knew that was an impossible wish.. They were broken pieces.. One that could not be glued back together.. But she hated to admit it., she knew she missed him.. She missed him so much...
"Vanessa., Vanessa.. That very sweet familiar voice called out her name from a distance., she looked and saw the girl coming.. Then her eyes drifted from the girl who had called her, to the man walking hand-in-hand alongside the girl.. And she could feel her heart beating like crazy at the sight of him.. Her head had deleted every previous unpleasant thoughts, and the only thing that was registered up there right now was this man that shimmered under the morning sun.. With every majestic stride he took, she could feel her breath seizing..
No matter how many times she thought of this., she was sure this was definitely a sin.. It should be written down somewhere in that Christian Bible... Looking this beautiful was a pure sin.. Especially when the person looking like this was a preacher.. Then she's sure it's hundred percent a sin..
Though he wore his hair down today, it should have covered up his facial features, but no.. It just made his thin jaw way more pronounced, some of the hair fell on his nose., making it look sharper than usual... He wore a gray tight fitted polo shirt, that were the exact same color with his eyes.. It clung onto his muscles, revealing every curves and carves.. Her eyes were unconsciously tracing every curve on his body., imagining how it would look like without the restraint of cloths.. picturing her hands running down every carve..
The closer he got, the more it felt like her heart was coming out of her chest.. The sound of her heartbeat growing louder.. She was scared if he got any closer, he would hear the crazy tone coming from her chest..
She bolted up from the chair wanting to escape from all this, but forgetting that she had hot tea in her hands..
"Ahhh.. She squealed as it spilled on her, snapping her out of her daydreaming, and pulling her back to reality..
Nathan saw this, and walked up to her in a faster pace..." are you okay... He asked her...
Every single time he asked her this same simple question that people ask., and yet every single time she found herself flustered by the way he asked and the sound of his voice...
She clung tightly onto the bed sheet over her beating heart... This is crazy..
'it's just because I was thinking of Mark when he showed up.., my heart still races when I think of Mark that's why.. She thought to herself.. It had to be because of Mark.. She was sure it was.. It's all because of Mark.., My heart is beating because of Mark.. Repeating it to herself as if trying to convince herself so... But then she looked at the man in front of her again and couldn't help but question herself...
"it is right??
" it's because of Mark right??
