I watched as Melanie froze in response to my question. I couldn't tell if it was out of shock or guilt. However, what I was certain of was that the tears on her face were fake and not to be taken seriously. She was not going to cry her way out of this situation, and I made sure she understood that perfectly clear.
"W..what..? What are you saying?" She stammered as her eyes darted from one corner of my face to the other in an attempt to read my emotions. "Are you really asking me that? Do you really think I have the guts to kill somebody?" She retorted with visible disappointment and rage.
"You might not have the guts to carry it out yourself, but that doesn't stop you from hiring somebody for your dirty work." I replied without any remorse for her hurt emotions. "So answer me, are you involved in any of this? Did you plan to get her murdered?"
