Chapter 40

Amelia strolled around the palace, she was amazed by the sculptures in the garden, the paintings on the wall and the golden chandeliers. This was the ancient castle of KU one of the most prestigious places in the world, and she was opportune to stay here for some time.

She was escorted by three maids, everywhere she went in this palace they followed her so that she would easily find her way and anything she needed they would give it to her, this was Chad's order. She had not seen him since yesterday night, she longed to see him, she missed him a little.

"Have you heard from Chad, today?" Amelia asked one of the maids that were following her in a tough voice so that it would not be obvious that she missed him.

"I haven't heard from his highness throughout today, ma'am." The maid replied to her in a polite voice and Amelia sighed. It was almost afternoon and yet she had not yet seen him, she was angry that he was not with her, she felt so uncomfortable in this place and he was the only one that made her feel slightly better.

Uncomfortable?

Amelia remembered the nice treatment she had been receiving from some of the maids and how some things in the palace were too wonderful; like how soft her mattress was, and the cool jazz music that played from the speakers in the bed--yes, her bed had speakers--as she slept and how she woke up from the artificial sun rays in her room. This was a feature that was only equipped in her room and the King and Queen's room, the room could create golden sun rays that look like real sun rays, so whether the sun was shining or not the room could be wonderfully lit by the artificial sun rays. This feature was to help the occupant of the room to keep track of time, in case the weather is gloomy and the day looks like it is still dark, it helps the occupant of the room know when it is morning and when the sun has risen.

She also did not forget the heavenly shower she took in the guest room bathroom. Amelia had to change her mind, here was indeed very comfortable.

If the guest room was this good, then Chad's room would be better than this.

'What if he had a swimming pool in his room? Or a parking lot in his room? Or an amusement park in his room?'

She felt the urge to see how big and beautiful Chad's room was, so she decided to go to his quarters to see how it was and also use this opportunity to see him.

"Have you seen Chad's room before?" Out of curiosity, she asked a maid.

"Yes, I have." The maid answered her.

"You know where it is? How big is it? It is bigger than the whole castle right?" She exaggerated and the maids giggled.

"His Highness is not that type of person. And I will take you to his quarters" The maid told her and she smiled but then she thought, what does she mean by Chad is not that type of person?

They walked to the prince's quarters and Amelia was thinking of what to tell Chad when she saw him. She could not tell him that she came to see him, it would make it obvious that she missed him a little and he might use that to taunt her for the rest of her life. She had to think of a perfect lie to tell him.

It was already noon and Amelia was happy that the walkways had shades unless they would have been roasted by the scorching afternoon sun. When Amelia felt that they were soon reaching his quarters she arranged herself and took in a deep breath. She was in a white robe which was soft and kept her cool even though the day was quite hot.

They arrived at a mansion, which was the prince's quarters and as Amelia guessed it was big and beautiful. There were a lot of guards around and they intently stare at them as they approached the mansion.

"What are you doing here?" A huge black man who was one of the guards guarding the mansion asked them with a loud ear-deafening voice that could make anything cower in fear.

"I'm here to see Chad," Amelia told them and the maids were amazed by her confidence.

"You're Amelia right?" The guard asked her and she nodded.

"Yes, I am."

The guard tucked his hands into his pocket and brought out a paper, walked over to her and handed the paper over to her. The guard was huge, he was about 6'9 and he was very dark in complexion. She collected the paper from him and gulped down a chunk of saliva. He was more intimidating and scary at a closer view.

"His royal highness, Prince Chad said I should give it to you." He told her and marched away.

Amelia wondered what was written on the paper as slowly opened it. She read:

Dear Amelia,

You seeing this letter means that you came to look for me in my quarters, I can't believe you would do such a thing, it is so surprising that you would ever miss me, but I knew that you would do this all along that is why I wrote this. I'm currently not in the castle but when I come back we are going to go on a proper date this time. Heed all the advice and warning I gave you and remember that I wasn't the one that searched out for you, you were the one that did and it warms my little treacherous heart that you did. Take care.

Chad.

Amelia bit her lips and out of anger squeezed the paper. Then another paper fell off and she picked it up. He wrote on it too and she read:

Don't dare to reject my offer of taking you out for a date, I am not asking you to accept it and I don't care about your opinion, you must accept it if not you shall face the consequence of not accepting my generous offer, it is an order!

She became angrier and threw the papers away. She had never met someone as proud and annoying as him.

"Chad..." She said through her teeth and folded her hands into fists. What went through her mind now was ways for her to murder him.

She took in a deep breath and sighed.

'I won't let you ruin my day,' she said to herself, 'I hate you so much, Chad.'

A part of her was screaming in joy that Chad asked her out again, she wanted to spend time with him like she did in the royal garden.

As they were about to leave, Princess Amanda, Chad's younger sister met them.

"Aren't you the girl that danced with Chad at the party last night?" Amanda asked Amelia with her prying on her. If Amelia could remember vividly she was the one Chad warned her about extensively, he even told her not to go close to her or ever speak with her.

Amelia was confused about what to do.

"No, I didn't," Amelia lied and Amanda giggled.

Amanda placed her hands around Amelia's shoulder, giggling.

"You don't have to lie to me girl, I don't bite." Amanda winked at her and Amelia became quite relaxed. "I just want to know more about you."

"Okay," Amelia mumbled.

"Your dress was so beautiful, I love it!" Amanda told her and Amelia smiled.

"Thank you."

"Let's be friends, I can tell you everything that Chad likes and what makes him happy, you'd want to know all of that right?" Amanda brought her face closer to hers.

Amelia saw that she was very pretty and her quite tight blue gown which rested about her knees made her look sexy as it exposed her curves and matched with her pale colour.

But Amelia was not all that relaxed she was cautious and heeded to Chad's warning. But to her Amanda does not seem dangerous, she was lively and she always I'miled.

"Being wicked is what makes him happy." Amelia sighed.

"I know right? That's why he is my favourite brother he is so wicked and charming at the same time," Amanda laughed and Amelia giggled even though she felt awkward. "I can not believe that you're his girlfriend, Chad never had anyone before, you're his first person to be his girlfriend."

"I'm not Chad's girlfriend," Amelia told her sternly and she stopped giggling and her eyebrows furrowed. All the maids became afraid. "We are just business partners."

"But the way you danced with him, the way he held you, so you are saying nothing is going on between you too?" Amanda asked and Amelia nodded.

"Yes, nothing is going on between the both of us, I can't even stand him."

Amanda started laughing and Amelia backed away.

"Even me too, I can't stand him." Amanda sighed. "See you later, Amelia. We're friends right?"

Amelia nodded and Amanda hugged her, "I am so glad to have you as a friend, Amelia."

"I am too." Amelia replied, she was very confused but decided to play on.

"See, you later, Amelia," Amanda said before leaving.

Amelia sighed out of relief, she did not know why she felt tensed speaking with her maybe it was because of the way Chad warned her, but Amanda did not seem evil, she looked like every other normal girl, if she was normal then why did Chad warn her about Amanda?

Amelia could not understand something going on in this place, something felt strange and off here. And it seemed to her that Chad was both hiding something from her and revealing something to her, she wanted to know what he was keeping away from her...

"Amelia," Prince Chad called her from behind and she snapped her head towards him.

"Chad..." She muttered and he walked to her, he was in a tuxedo and wore a black hat, which covered almost half of his face. He stylishly removed the hair and strands of his hair fell over his face.

Amelia stared at him, she could not believe that at that very moment, she saw Prince Chad attractive.

"Missed me?" He shouted spreading his hands in the air and Amelia frowned.

"I can never, ever miss you." She emphasised and he chuckled.

"But you came to look for me in my residence," he smirked, "can you explain why you did that, Amelia?"

.

Amelia suspected that they would have this conversation so she had already thought of the lie she would say to him a long time ago. She was fully prepared.

"I came here..."

"I don't want to hear it, I know it's not of any importance." Chad said with a nonchalant voice and Amelia pouted her lips. "I knew you were going to come to find me all along and I also knew that you will not heed my warning."

Amelia's eyes shone, how did he know that she talked with his sister? Amanda left a few minutes ago and Chad came from the opposite direction she went. It meant only one thing, someone was always watching her and telling him all she did, but she was not sure about it.

"Your sister is not bad as you painted her to be, she is a lot nicer than you are." Amelia knew that she was supposed to heed his warning but she just wanted to frustrate him.

"So you didn't heed that warning, you went ahead and spoke with my younger sister, interesting." Chad rubbed his chin.

Amelia narrowed her eyes when she saw the way he was surprised about it, "Why are you surprised about it, I thought you said you knew?"

"I didn't know, Amelia not until you told me." A mischievous grin crept to his face and Amelia realised what he just did, he played with her mind...

"You b..." She looked around and saw that if she said what she wanted to say she might end up in jail forever. "I won't let you ruin my day, Chad." She sighed.

"Oh, Amelia, I can ruin anybody's day if I want to," he came closer to her and place his hands on her cheeks. "I want to ask you something, Amelia?"

.

"No don't ask me I know it won't be of any importance," she glared at him and he chuckled.

"Sure it would be, Amelia," he told her, "I want to ruin your day, can I?"

"You can't ruin my day."

"I want to ruin your day with a kiss and everyone here is going to watch me as I kiss you."

Amelia gulped and then his face inched closer to hers, she tried to back away from him, but he held her by the waist. She stared at his lips, and they were enticing, his eyes were almost shut, and this was the closest he had ever come to her. A part of her wanted to kiss him and a part of her knew that if she did she might develop something for him and she does not want to develop not even a nickel of feelings towards him.

Her body froze, and her brain could not process what was about to happen, she never expected him to do something outrageous and worse she could not do anything about it, it was as if he bewitched her and make her senses stop working...

He started laughing and he pulled his head back. "You always fall for this, Amelia."

Amelia frowned, she hated it when he normally does something like that and she was disappointed in herself for thinking of kissing him.

Chad straightened himself and in mere seconds his facial expression changed from a happy one to an angry one.

"What I want to ask you Amelia is, why are you lying to me? You think I wouldn't know?"

Amelia's eyes shone and her heart began pounding against her chest.
