“Dav, oh my God!”

“Surprise,” Cameron said, opening the door wider. He gestured for Davinder to step inside. “Come on in.”

“What are you doing here?” I reached my hand out, but didn’t touch him. “When did you get into the city?”

“I came for you. I drove straight through from the Laurentians.”

That was a twelve-hour drive.

Davinder took my hand, pulling me closer. “How are you?”

“You came all the way here for me?”

He whispered, “Yes, but, Allan, the plan is to get you to come back with me.”

I looked around at everyone’s faces, then back at Davinder’s sweet expression. “So, when were you going to tell me about your secret plans?”

He leaned in and softly kissed my lips. “Tonight.”

I came back to the living room with a glass of water. “You sure you’re not hungry? I could make something for us.” We’d returned from Cameron’s place a few minutes ago. It was late.

“No, come here.” Davinder patted the empty space beside him on the couch. “I want to say a few things to you.”
