Professor Mcgonagall came running towards them followed by Flitwick, Sprout and Snape.
"Never — in all my time at Hogwarts —" Professor McGonagall was almost speechless with shock, and her glasses flashed furiously, "— how dare you — might have broken your neck —"
"It wasn't his fault, Professor —"
"What do you mean ms. Patil?" Flitwick said before Snape could say anything.
"Professor...." Harry had to admit that Parvati patil had a talent when it came to telling stories. Even Harry, who had orchestrated the whole situation could not have described it so vividly.
Snape obviously tried to save their asses by blaming everything on Harry but the students from the other three houses were all standing in support of Harry making his attempts futile.
"It seems you boys do not take Hogwarts seriously at all --- Severus, After last night's incident, you would have thought that they would grow up and realise their mistakes.
If I find one more such action from them, they would be suspended or even expelled from the school, I will see to it. " Mcgonagall warned.
" Minerva is right Severus. You have to think of the implications of the news that Harry Potter was assaulted by the whole Slytherin first year group. People will be out for our blood. Pay special attention to these 4-5 students from the first year, I think it would do all of us a lot of good." Flitwick said kindly. Professor Sprout also nodded her head.
"And you Mr. Potter.. You did good by stopping others from getting involved. Even while you were being maliciously attacked, you tried to ensure everyone's safety.
This could have escalated and taken an ugly turn if you had not stopped others in time. I'm proud to have you in my house." Flitwick said proudly.
" Filius is right my boy. I'm proud that you did not use violence against them." Everyone turned towards the entrance to see Dumbledore walking forward, his long silver beard nearly blinded every eye.
"I remember you telling me that forgiveness is the key, Headmaster. I was just trying to follow your wise words." Harry said humbly while on the inside he was already feeling disgusted.
"That's good my boy.. That's very good. Hearing about your Prowess on the broom, I have decided to reward you by letting you play Quidditch in your first year." He said in a grand manner.
" Really! " Harry asked excitedly.
" Congratulations my boy. You might become the youngest seeker in centuries." Dumbledore said in his annoying grand-fatherly tone.
Dumbledore actually believed him because Harry had focused his aura on him. Listening to everyone's account had already made him let his guard down.
Harry was happy with the result as he not only made Snape feel frustrated, he was also able to complete 50% of the plan. That's right, getting to play Quidditch for his house was never his true aim. But he was confident that he would get what he had planned for.
The class was over and the Ravens had to go attend their first DADA class. The class was smelling so bad that Harry felt like throwing up. He behaved as would have not knowing Voldemort was teaching them.
Harry knew Voldemort was dangerous in that he was unpredictable. If he felt even a Silver of doubt about Harry's behaviour, he would lose all pretence and attack him immediately. It was good that Harry and Hermione, the two who knew about Quirrell being possessed by Voldemort had high Occlumency achievements helping them act normally. Harry was also paying continuous attention to Voldemort's status, so that he could immediately blast him using Bombarda Maxima the moment any kind of abnormality occurred.
"So what now Harry? Are we going back to the common room or to the library?" Hermione asked after the class.
"Neither Hermione. Hagrid sent me an invitation to visit him. Would you like to go with me?" Hermione and Daphne both shook their heads. "We might as well go to the library. I really don't want to go." Hermione said. Since the time Harry had told her about his doubt about Hagrid, Hermione had started to hate the man. According to her, 'it doesn't matter if he did it on his own or because of his loyalties to Dumbledore, if he can knowingly separate a baby from who might be his only close relative, then he is evil.'
Harry did agree with her. He knew that Hagrid had invited him to let him know about Gringotts break-in as in the canon. But he still wanted to check if there would be any changes because of the butterfly effect.
"Heya Harry. Come in.." Hagrid controlled his boarhound Fend and invited him in. Looking at the newspaper on the table with very familiar headlines Harry got all his answers.
'Like really. The break-in happened nearly a month ago, that means it's a month old newspaper. For what purpose he could be keeping it here other than to let me see it and guide me towards their grand plans.' Harry thought.
After chatting with him for 30 minutes in which Hagrid kept trying to subtly gather the information while blatantly guiding him to follow Dumbledore, Harry finally returned back to him room.
Seeing that he had plenty of time before the Astronomy class, he asked Alfred to take him to Gringotts, to complete some important tasks.
"Hello Bogrod" Harry greeted after his sudden appearance scared the living daylight out of Bogrod.
"Mr. Potter!!, Please stop doing this or you will have to find a new manager if I suddenly die because of heart attack." Bogrod said patting his chest making Harry laugh out loud.
"So what is it that requires you to come here personally?"
"Hmm. There are some things I need.. Some very very rare things. I want Gringotts to do it's best to find them as soon as possible."
" Lord Potter, please don't feel offended but if the things are too precious, your vault may not even be pay for them." Bogrod said awkwardly.
" Don't worry about the money. If that is really not enough then I will pay you back in gold or in kind." Harry assured him. He really needed those things to make his mom a perfect new body that would not be tied with her previous identity.
