112 Death Box

As I said last time, I have exams this week, so I'll probably decrease the chapter releases.

We'll see.

Before we start, I made a tiny winy change after a reader pointed it out for me.

I had increased Hestia's height just like I changed some other characters' ages, but because of this, some dialogue and conversations wouldn't make sense anymore.

It's really small, and you would have to be very attentive to remember a detail from 40-50 chapters ago... But it can happen.

So I simply edited a few things and now Loki and some other characters are a bit taller... It won't fix the problem per see, but it should make a difference.

In any case, adios.

/THUD!/

'Due to the sudden shock, Loiju lowered his head in frustration, hitting the table with it.'

'The seconds passed with him in that state, until he raised his head and asked:'

"Since when?"

How?... Just what has he been doing in the past month for him to have grown so much...

He was already very strong as a Level 2, but now he is Level 3...

I never expected that the day of seeing him become a Second-class adventurer would arrive so soon...

But deeming his strength, he may become a First-class in no time.

"A few days ago… And are you sure you are okay? Your forehead is red…"

"My forehead doesn't matter here!" He said euphorically as he grabbed Silver's shoulders

"Do you understand what this means?!"

"Calm down first… Start by talking in a lower tone." Silver replied calmly

'Loiju sat back on the couch and took a deep breath.'

"It has only been a few months… What a headache this is going to be…"

"It isn't." Silver said with a smile

'Loiju became confused.'

"What do you mean by that, how is this situation not…"

"Because I have no intention of publicizing it yet, one of my reasons to come here was to tell this to you, but I still don't want to let everyone know that I'm Level 3."

"In the first place, they wouldn't believe it, forcing me to show my stats or going through those truth devices, I don't really like them..."

"Second, it's a bother, I hate being looked at as if I was an animal in a zoo, or even if the people doing so are in awe of doing so out of respect, but those will be the minority."

"You're being pessimistic, I believe they'll be the Majority..."

'Silver shrugged.'

"I was never a fan of the spotlight... Don't look at me like that..."

'Loiju was shocked.'

"That is illegal…"

And you fucker... Do you say you don't like the spotlight?

As if! Every damn time... Even in the War game...

'But Silver simply shrugged once more and said:'

"Between telling the world I leveled up and causing some degree of chaos, being silent for a few more months isn't going to make anyone suspect a thing, and it's also better from the perspective of the Guild."

"You wouldn't be forced to make a report nor would the Guild be obliged to go through the trouble that would follow this revelation... Although you'll still most likely have some trouble, it'll certainly be more contained."

"I know you're right but…"

And I thank you for telling me this…

"My reasons for revealing this are many, so don't make me go over each, okay? I know that both of us don't want that." Silver said with a slight smile

"... Sigh."

'Loiju raised his head once more and smiled awkwardly.'

"Fine, you win. Thank you for updating me on your progress as always, however, there are several things we need to keep an eye out for."

"As a Level 3, you are already over the need for an advisor or instructor, at least for me since I never instructed a Level 3 in my career… It's a lot of work after all."

"I can, of course, still remain as your instructor, although I wouldn't be able to instruct you in any way…"

It was already difficult to do so before, much less now.

"Also, as a Level 3… I imagine you'll be going to the Lower floors?"

'But Silver shook his head.'

"Not anytime soon, the Middle floors still give me more than enough of a challenge and they have a lot of riches for me to explore and exploit."

"After all, there are many herbs and materials to acquire there and the money I make from them is very high."

In a sense, depending on how I schedule myself, I could make more on the Middle floors as I would on the Lower floors...

You can say it's because of my freedom of movement...

"It's always about the money…" Loiju said with a smile

"I'm not like that…"

"I know I know… But it's good that you won't dive deeper, the Lower floors are no joke, even after seeing how you fight, going there would be no short of stepping into a fire."

"Everything the Middle floor can offer is more than doubled in the Lower floors."

"Power, danger, quantity, Level of cooperation, the average intelligence of the monsters… The last one perhaps not as much, but there is a clear improvement."

"And this includes the variety of monsters, because of its size, the Lower floors contain a massive quantity of new monsters…"

"The concentration of monsters from the 25th floor to the 27th can be bigger than the entire Middle floors."

"I say it 'can' because the Middle floors, especially the 19th to the 24th floor contain a massive quantity of minor monsters, especially insects."

"The Lower floors are also connected through underground rivers and lakes, allowing monsters from Lower or even Higher floors to move around… This includes Amphisbaena, the monster Rex of the 27th floor…"

"You could be traveling near a river just after entering the Lower floors, and it could suddenly burst out of the water to attack you…"

"I know, I've been reading a lot about the Lower and Middle floors, but I have no intention of going there for now." Silver said with a nod

I'll settle myself as a Level 3 first, only then will I slowly start exploring and getting used to those depths.

But as he said, the difference is clear. Monsters will come in waves after waves, and as expected, those monsters are all very strong…

Fighting against them is not entirely the problem, at least for me.

From the Guild's perspective, all of the monsters in there are so strong that Level 2 adventurers would barely be good enough to handle them.

And even Level 4 adventurers would have difficulty in soloing the initial zone, the Water city, that spans from the 25th floor to the 27th.

But I'm just as good as a Level 4 adventurer, so I could definitely excel in there as long as I kept myself focused.

But if I were to get bitten by let's say… A poison Vermis, I may die if I am incapable of removing its poison from my body…

That's because the poison of this creature is so extreme that there is only one person in all of Orario that can detoxify it. That being Airmid, the strongest Healer in the city if not the world.

One of the reasons why I am trying to have Cassandra train... Since she is one of the few that has the prospect of matching her level...

'After letting Silver think for a few moments, Loiju continued:'

"There's also the question of how long… How long do you wish to remain as a Level 2?" Loiju asked

"Hum… Probably for around 2 to 4 more months. That is about the time most people would expect of me."

It'll all depend on how much I grow in those months...

The problem with this is that I have no intention of stopping my training at all.

Because if I end up growing very fast, no one would believe me to be Level 2 anymore.

If several Familias end up pressurizing ours so they can learn our secrets, I wouldn't be able to do much about it.

They tried to do so with Loki when Ais started to rise, but they failed miserably... You could say their attempt died before it even saw the light...

But if I were to try the same, I could end up as Orario's common enemy...

"However, if you choose that, won't that mean that you'll remain as a Level 3 for 4 months less?" Loiju asked

"That is correct, but I don't think I'll Level up anytime soon, for now, all I'll do is train and continue adventuring in a normal way…"

"Ha!... 'Normal way' you say… That's good, I don't think you've really done that once." Loiju said with a nod

"Come on, I did do that once in a while…"

"Says the guy who started adventuring the day after the new year and took on a monster wave… Do I have to repeat myself?"

"Uh…"

'The two talked a bit more about the events of the past, and after being satisfied, Loiju said:'

"Enough of this, I'm really full of things to do."

"Once again, your rank should be ready by nightfall, so come take a look if you have time, as for your Level up, let's treat it as if this conversation never happened."

"The earlier I forget about this the less my chances of spilling this out when I'm drunk get…"

Although I'm thankful, I would've also preferred to not know about this…

Is this what they call, knowing more than you should?

"Alright, I'll come back from the Dungeon and pass by here… As such, how about some commissions?" Silver asked with a smile

"I thought you were never going to ask."

'Silver and Loiju left the room and went back to the reception part of the Guild, and in there Loiju helped him choose several good commissions for him to do while he explores the Middle floors.'

'And after talking a bit more with some of the workers of the Guild such as Eina and Rose, Silver left towards his next destination, that being…'

'Silver raised his head and looked at the wooden plaque hanging on the wall…'

[Hostess of Fertility]

'Because it was still early, there was no one here and the door, albeit open, there was a clear sign that said, closed.'

'Yet, Silver ignored it and got inside.'

"Hm? We are closed, Nya… Oh! It's Silver!" Anya said with a smile

'She waved at him and he greeted her in reply:'

"Good morning Anya. Cleaning alone as always? You should talk with Mia and have them punished." Silver asked jokingly

"Alone? Do you have eyes?" Asked Lunoire from the side, walking out of the shadows

"Sorry, I couldn't see you hiding there... You're quite good at this aren't you?" Silver teased

"Hum..."

'Lunoire looked at Silver for a moment but she said nothing.'

'She approached him and tapped on his shoulder, saying in a low tone:'

"Hehe, are you here for Syr?"

'But Silver rolled his eyes and said:'

"You used to be more creative with your jokes, if it's so hard to come up with one every day why don't you just stop?"

'She just shrugged with a smile.'

'He sat in one of the chairs and started to talk with them as he waited for the others to arrive.'

'This has become one of his morning habits, to visit the Hostess before going to the Dungeon.'

'Not only the Hostess but other places as well such as Tom and his father's bar.'

'Every once in a while he would even visit Miach and Hephaestus to see how they were doing, of course, he would always be very welcomed.'

'It isn't that hard to visit his friends and doing so at most takes up an hour of his day, so he does it every once in a while…'

'Besides, this is the only time that he can get something from Mama Mia for free, that being a small cup of coffee the girls make in the mornings.'

'Eventually, Ryuu and the others arrived, and they all greeted each other.'

'Over time, Silver grew close to these girls, although not close enough to be considered within their inner circle, but closer than all guys had ever managed to get.'

'He could laugh and talk with them, all under the observant gaze of Mia Grand…'

"Well then everyone, I'm off…" Silver said with a smile

"See ya." Said Lunoire with a smile

"Safe travels." Ryuu said with a small smile

"Good luck, Nya!" Anya said with her friendly smile

"Try to come back in one piece." Chloe said with a smug smile

'Once he left the Hostess, he was met with the pleasant view of a smiling Syr, waiting for him outside…'

"… Take this with you." Syr said as she gave Silver a small box

'No more words were needed, her slightly red face said everything.'

"!"

I was too late…

'Upon seeing the box and Syr's naive yet embarrassed smile, Silver took the box with his most natural smile and said:'

"Thank you, I'll bring the box later as always."

"Be careful okay? I've heard that the Middle floors were slightly chaotic recently, so watch your step."

'Her words caught Silver off guard.'

"Oh? Is that so? I'll be careful." He replied with a confident expression

Loiju didn't say anything to me... Is it a rumor from the adventurers?

'Syr smiled and went into the pub, a bit too embarrassed to continue there, Silver on the other hand let out a sigh.'

Receiving a lunch box from a beautiful girl is very pleasant, but…

'Syr was a very… Very terrible cook.'

'Even Hestia who never really cooked alone was better than her… Someone who is a waitress in a bar.'

'He looked at the lunch box and went into contemplation…'

I wonder why they changed.

Previously, they used to be a bit distant, but slowly became closer and closer…

What did I do to gain their trust? And what exactly do these girls think of me?

Especially her…

'Silver emotions for Syr aren't really that deep, he considers her a very good friend, but that is all.'

'Even if she liked him, Silver wouldn't accept her just because she is pretty and has a good personality…'

'Silver shook his head, dissipating these convoluted thoughts before he put the box inside his small backpack and went on his way.'

"..."

'Through the windows of the Hostess, Syr gazed at Silver, but this time, her gaze was a bit different from before.'

'A mix of worry and expectation, plus an indescribable emotion…'

"Syr! We're going to open soon!" Exclaimed Lunoire

"Okay!"

'When she turned her face to face the street again, Silver was already gone.'

"..."
