Chapter 31: Chirp... Chirp...

When Charlotte and Nebra were continuing their cold war through their eyes, sending chills through the spines of others there, while others were looking at the awkward atmosphere between the two ladies with confusion.

Chirp... chirp... ("You blonde bitch! Don't waste your time, I knew him first...")

Chirp... chirp... ("And you, white-haired old hag... why are you here? Shouldn't you be at your home bullying your sister...")

In that silent atmosphere, both Charlotte and Nebra heard a frantic anti-bird chirp.

When they turned their heads to look at the source of this disturbance,

they were greeted by an anti-bird sitting on top of Ben's head, looking at them with a smug look, a raised eyebrow, and a smirk.

"Is that the anti-bird, Ben's pet?"

Nebra looked at the bird in confusion.

It suddenly changed into an expression of irritation, looking at the bird's smug look.

"This bird is not as simple as it seems..."

Those were the only thoughts on the minds of both Charlotte and Nebra.

"Hi, I am Dan Mustache, 1st class junior magic knight from Crimson Lion."

A tall, slender man with dirty red hair and a big mustache greeted Ben and Luck's conversation.

"Hi, I am Luck."

Luck greeted with a wide smile, showcasing all his teeth.

"I am Ben, 2nd class junior magic knight from Blue Rose."

Ben shook his hand in greeting.

Hearing Ben is from Blue Rose, Dan's eyes wandered towards Ben's magic knight robes which indeed contained the Blue Rose logo.

Seeing the awkward expression the man was making, Ben didn't care.

While the others were chatting with each other, they didn't speak with Ben.

Because until now, the men were rarely chosen by Blue Rose;

even if they were chosen, they were used to doing odd jobs.

So they didn't have any interest in Ben, who is a man chosen in Blue Rose.

After the introduction, they went to a flat area and started building a campsite.

After building the camp, they held a meeting to discuss the plan to search the forest.

They split into two-man teams, while Ben and Charlotte were split into one team.

With a victory smile, Charlotte pulled Ben to her side, while Nebra went to the side of Dan with a dark expression.

"Are my eyes playing tricks on me? Why are two beauties from the noble and Royal trying to get in his team?"

Dan looked at Ben in confusion, seeing Ben who was chatting with Luck without any care.

The search begins...

After the search began, everyone left in the particular direction they were assigned to.

Luck and the fat man from the Purple Orca paired and went their separate ways, while Luck took the lead, saying,

"I will be the first one to engage in a fight."

CLICK...

Ben clicked the button on his Omnitrix and started to rotate the display clockwise to select the alien he wanted to choose.

"This one will be perfect."

After selecting the alien he wanted to transform, Ben pressed the display.

SPLASH...

To which the green radiant light radiated, which covered Ben completely, and he started to transform.

This time, Charlotte was looking at Ben with interest;

she wanted to know what his transformation looked like.

Under the green radiation, Ben's body started to shrink, while his eyes and mouth turned green.

His ear lobes extended and connected to his chest, while the ears transformed into a structure like a headset.

His whole body turned, and its structure looked like a small robot.

"ECHO ECHO..."

When the green radiant light faded, a short robotic figure came out of it, declaring its name in a mechanical voice.

'Cute~'

Charlotte controlled herself with difficulty from pinching the now-transformed Ben's cheeks.

"Shall we start..."

Ben took Charlotte's hand and asked her.

"____"

"Yeah... yeah... let's start."

They started searching the entire forest.

"Shit... I should have transformed into Four Arms; it should have been easier to run... it's a little difficult running long distances with these short legs."

Ben cursed while running through the forest to mark it as searched through.

RING... RING...

After searching for straight two hours, unfortunately, they couldn't find any lead on the terrorist group.

But suddenly, Charlotte's magic communicator started to ring.

She took her communicator and started chatting with it.

While she was chatting on the magic communicator, Ben was chasing the squirrel which shoots a nut at his head whenever it gets a chance.

"Ben, it seems like Black Bulls and Purple Orca managed to find a camp full of suspicious people."

"LET'S GO..."

Ben and Charlotte started running towards the location she got through the magic communicator.

After 20 minutes...

Everyone in the investigation squad arrived at the location.

They were looking at the camps with many suspicious people doing something.

"Lord Sirius, our squad is ready. Today we will be able to take the kids from the huge village orphanage.

We got the information on that boy who arrived at the orphanage.

He is a 2nd class junior magic knight from Blue Rose, and the woman with him is his captain, Charlotte Rose Lei."

"Why is a captain doing here in the depths of the forsaken realm?"

Sirius went into deep thought, pondering what a captain of a magic squad was doing here.

'Did they smell us? Huh~ I don't think so...'

Sigh...

"The boy is not a threat to us. He must be here to do odd jobs for his captain, but his captain is a different story. But I have confidence we can overwhelm with our numbers."

With a sigh, Sirius only considered Charlotte as a threat.

"Ben, is that them you saw?"

Charlotte asked Ben to confirm that they were the ones Ben saw.

"YEAH... THEY WERE WEARING THE SAME OUTFITS AS OLD BEGGARS."

Ben nodded his robotic head frantically.

"Then it's decided, let's start the fight."

Luck, who got his confirmation, wanted to engage in the battle.

"Yes, Captain Charlotte, we need to attack now to maximize the attack."

Dan, who was standing beside Luck, also voiced his concern.

"No, first we need to gauge their strength."

Nebra shook her head and gave her suggestion.

Hearing Nebra is against the decision, Dan became silent.

Who in their right mind would try to oppose a royal if their life didn't want to turn into hell?

There was a brief silence...

"What do you think, Ben?"

Charlotte looked at Ben, who was playing with stones on one of the sides.

"I WOULD GO WITH LUCK."

Hearing Ben's opinion, Charlotte nodded.

'Idiot... did he lose his mind going against the royal's opinion like this.'

Dan looked at Ben with pity, imagining how his life would turn into hell because of this.

"I see... then I agree with you... you would certainly have a plan, right."

Nebra nodded her head and walked near Ben and whispered the last part in his ears.

"YEAH... I HAVE A PLAN. MY ABILITY WILL MAKE A GREAT IMPACT IN THE SURPRISE ATTACK."

With a mechanical voice, Ben grinned while looking at the camps through one of the bushes.
