Chapter 95 – Conductor

Third person POV

By tomorrow morning, Russell woke up early and went to Rossley in his bus because Cassius had informed him that Kane and his entourage are now done with their errands at the royal palace and the capital, and that they needed him to pick them up and drop them off at the Blue Jay Estate in Wallisville. So, Russell answered to the call and did that task in just less than 1 hour in terms of time used to do this.

1 week had passed, and everything seemed to be in place for Russell and his party and group. At the same time, Russell made his bus services daily and in random in terms of routes, destinations, and schedules. His fares are very fair, affordable, and can be catered to anyone regardless of status, race, and socioeconomic background. It seemed that Russell was particularly successful in his occupation and career as a bus driver. Also, at the same, news about him spread across the Southern Plains. And now, in the outskirts of the fortified city of Fort Right, while taking a break from his long journeys in his new estate home, Russell was staring at his bus while his party and group are having fun by chasing each other while laughing. Their caretaker was busy sweeping some leaves at the backyard of the estate. The reason why he was like that is that he was thinking about other ways of defending himself with his bus other than ramming his enemies into oblivion.

"What if I could use my lightning magic to this thing?" he asked himself.

Then, the screen appeared before him and informed him that because he had done more than 10 routes, he was rewarded with a newly unlocked ability known as Conductor, which allows a user to surge and flow lightning magic into the metal object it was holding. That metal object can be a sword or even, a bus, and the ability was an S-ranked one. Seeing that, Russell was stunned with surprise, realizing that his efforts of his work as a bus driver had earned him that seemingly powerful ability. Also, the ability only consumes a small portion of his mana when being used. Furthermore, this ability can be used as a means of defense for the user by conducting electricity through it, turning it into an electric-shrouded weapon of sorts.

And then, the screen gave him a congratulatory message for unlocking it and told him the simple instructions how to do it and to use the new ability wisely, before disappearing and leaving him to do it himself. After that, Russell was amazed with stunning and wondered what if he could use it on his bus, turning it into a mobile electric fence. So, deciding to test that assumption, he walked closer to the metal exterior of the bus, placed the palm of his right hand on it, and closed his eyes, taking a deep breath.

"Conductor," he uttered in a low voice.

And then, lightning magic started to flow from his body, through his hand, and into the metal body of the vehicle, turning it into a literal mobile electric defense. The electricity sparked and cackled through the metal body, making it as a warning to those who were foolish enough to touch or vandalize it. Upon seeing that, Russell was stunned, this time, with amazement, on that amazing ability, and now, he was thinking about using it in big and large-scale battles and skirmishes.

But then, after deactivating the ability by stopping the flow of lightning magic into it and removing his hand from it, he began to think about its effects on the engine and other parts inside the bus. So, he began to think about protecting about those parts from getting damaged by his ability. After much thinking, he had thought that the insides of his bus were fine when the exterior was being used for his Conductor ability. To test his theory, Russell hopped in and started the engine, hearing to its sound for anything that was not good. He did the same thing with using his Conductor ability for a few more times before coming to a conclusion that the insides of his bus were, in fact, fine when the exterior was being used for his Conductor ability.

After turning off the engine and getting off the bus, it was determined that he only needed around 2 rolls of leather, about 3 meters each roll. That will be used for his home and some crafts as well. With that in mind, Russell pulled out his leather notepad and charcoal pencil and began to jot down notes about it. Then, the idea of using small wooden planks as signs for his destinations. Russell knew that these were super cheap and convenient to use, but not convenient to carve the names on them.
