Chapter 91 – A New, Permanent Home and a Base of Operation

Third person POV

Russell eventually chose to decline the offer of becoming a part of their family because he wants to live on his own and doesn't want to get a high position in the social hierarchy. Nicholas and George understood that, not wanting to pressure him to accept their offer. So, both of them gave him a different offer, this time, an estate of his own off the fortified city of Fort Right. Russell and his group, alongside Adrian, were shocked to hear that: Russell having an estate of his own, like a rich family of nobles who owned lots of land with serfs working for them.

"Is that a bit too much?" Russell asked. "Are there any, you, know, serfs working there?"

Nicholas then laughed it off. "No, we had moved them off to our other estates. Also, that estate we were talking about is small and was rarely used."

"Yes," his father added in agreement, "we maintained that place, but it would be a waste if we don't use it much. So, we decided to give it away to you for free. No charge or monthly payments whatsoever. How's that sound?"

To that Russell began to think, before replying, "Is there a catch to it?"

"Well, the house is modest at its finest," Nicholas confidently responded back, "as well as a few decorations on it and two floors. The second floor has 6 bedrooms."

Because of the word 'modest' used to describe the said house, Russell abruptly replied, "I'll take it then!"

His mind then said, "So, I could settle down for a while."

"Okay, it is decided," George delightfully responded in agreement.

Adrian was surprised that Russell would accept that alternative offer instead, now thinking that the commoners would perceive Russell as a noble because of the estate he will be owning.

Azalea was surprised even more, now imagining and fantasizing about being Russell's wife in his estate in the future.

So, Russell signed the document of deed of transfer for the Passato family's estate, which was called the Dark Bark House. After that, Russell now owns that estate to his name. And so, while Kane and his entourage were waiting for the meeting with George, Russell and his party and group, accompanied by Cassius, went to that estate, which was located southeast of City of Fort Right. This time, Cassius rode in Russell's bus. The distance between the Dark Bark House and the city walls was only 1 kilometer long, and around the estate, homes and farmlands are scattered across the flat plains. Most of the residents of that area, known as the Outer District of Fort Right, are mostly farmers and small-time craftsmen who worked with wood. There are also a few merchants, too. Russell planned to use that estate as his new, permanent home and a base of operation but still thinks its other, future potentials for other uses.
