Chapter 5

Seeing that it was getting worse, Long Chen decided to step into the fight. He made a slight noise to distract them and then walked out of the bushes where he was standing while hiding his presence.

Seeing him coming out, the fight stopped. Most of them were at Elementary Profound Realm while a few were in Nascent Profound Realm, with his cultivation base released, he had suppressed them at the start because he didn't want any meaningless talk or insults.

Looking around, he saw fear in the eyes of bandits and a little hope in the despaired eyes of the older woman in the other group.

Looking at the fear in their eyes, he knew that they had done many worse things and were already beyond saving.

Without taking any more time, he used his sword intent to kill them all. He unsheathed and sheathed his sword so fast that none of them were able to see anything, except a clear line appeared in their neck and they all fell down. Only the woman and the children were left.

Before he could start to leave, he heard a voice. "Thank you benefactor for helping us.", said the woman while the two children behind her were now looking at him with admiration and a little fear.

Looking at her, Long Chen said, "It's nothing, I was going to the New Moon City and then heard someone's voice. I was looking for someone to ask for directions to the city."

"Benefactor, we are also going to the New Moon City. Do you want us to guide you to the city? said the woman. Her tone was full of gratitude and a little bit of hope. Hearing this, Long Chen realized that she wanted her to protect them while they were going with him. Thinking he had nothing to lose and he could also have some keep after a long time, he decided to accept the deal.

With that decided, they decided to go to the city, and they did a few small talks in between. It mainly was him asking about the city and places he could go there. He introduced himself and then got their name. The older woman's name was Lan Rou while the daughter was Lan Xi. The boy was her daughter's childhood friend and his name was Lin Feng.

A few hours later, they reached the city and just when they were about to part off, Lan Rou started coughing and she spits a mouthful of blood. Both the children started to panic, meaning it was the first time it did happen. Seeing this Long Chen put his hands on their shoulder and said, "Stop Panicking and calm down. Let me check what is happening."

Saying this he gave them a bottle of water while using his sense. He checked her pulse and using his sense, he found out that she was heavily injured. Her insides were harmed and she had a black goo-like thing stick to her organs.

Checking them, he used his sky poison pearl, without anyone noticing, and removed the goo-like thing which was poison but even after this, her condition didn't change.

He wanted to check further but was stopped by Lan Rou.

Lan Rou: "Young Master Chen, no need to worry, I know of the situation."

Saying this, she took a pill from her ring which he hadn't seen before, and ate it. Soon her condition stabilized but Long Chen senses that it was just for some time. He wanted to speak more but stopped when he looked at her look and then at the children. With this, he knew that she knew she will only live for a month or two.

Lan Rou: "Young Master Chen, seeing that you are new to the city, would you like to live with our family inn? It has every basic need you might need and you can also read a few books my husband collected in the past as you were asking before. I also would like to talk to you about something." Saying this she looked towards the children and sighed. Seeing this, Long Chen knew she wanted to talk about her condition but couldn't in front of Lan Xi and Lin Feng, so she decided to ask to live at their inn. He accepted the deal and else he will have to look for a new inn and he could ask her about other things.

With that, they left for the inn, and at the inn, Long Chen decided to retreat for the day as he now needed a good sleep.

The next day when he woke, he felt refreshed as it's been 4 months since he got a good sleep and in the mountain, he had to keep his senses on every time even if there wasn't any danger. He freshened up a little bit and then went down for the food.

The inn also sold food and he decided to buy them. He bought four dishes and ate them. He was surprised that they tasted good and then order them to pack a few more but just as he was about to pay, he found out that he didn't have any coins to pay.

Seeing his face, the waiter knew something was up so he decided to inform the manager who surprisingly was Lan Xi instead of Lan Rou. Seeing her Long Chen's eyes lit up, he told her about the problem and asked if he could pay up with True Profound Realm beast cores.

At first, Lan Xi was reluctant to ask for the money as he had helped them yesterday not knowing her mother could save them too but it would cost her life so technically he did save them, Long Chen, convinced her, and she reluctantly accepted a True Profound Realm beast core.

She had asked him to just not pay and that he could pay later but he refused and then went out after asking the directions from the Black Moon Merchant Guild branch.
