Imprisoned by the CEO

“You will have to marry me and bear me a child.”  “What the fuck?!” Logic flew out of the window when Grace heard him say that. “Excuse me, what did you just say?”  Maybe, she was the one who had heard him wrong. It could have been anything except marrying him and giving him a child.  “You heard me,” Christian tsked, “but I’ll repeat it. Marry me and have my child.”  Her mouth opened and gaped at me. In her mind, she was trying to make sense about what was going on. How in the world had it come to be? What in the world could make the situation come to this?!  “No?” Grace replied, but then realized that the word was not firm enough. “No.” she said again. Christian frowned, and it seemed so innocent like he had not asked her the most unbelievable thing. “Why not? I thought you wanted to help me. You offered.”  “I offered my help, my brain, my support not my,” she hesitated, “stomach!”  What was the word for it? “Womb,” he provided.  “Yes!” She slapped her hand on the table. “You don’t get my womb!”   “I don’t?” He challenged.  “No!”  “What if helping me out means Lorelai coming out of a coma?”  Grace felt her heart drop. “What?”  Christian nodded. “What if helping me out, agreeing to what you have to do for me, means bringing your grandmother out of the, that she is in?”  ******** Grace  was one strong girl and with the people she put her trust in, that was only a small number, she knew she could conquer the world, or at least she thought to herself.  When her best friend proposed a deal that could change their lives, she made a decision that was going to be mutually beneficial to both of them.  But one renovation led to many and everything has been just a game, a manipulation from him. Everything was full of deceit, lies, planning and plotting against her. Every single thing, right down the fact that only he had been her friend…  Everything was a lie and she had been living it, willingly.  Tropes; Friends to lovers, office romance, best friends, frenemies, marriage of convenience, possessive villainous and morally gray heroes!

A treat to mind and the soul

Grace slowly opened her eyes and clicked them until the blurriness was gone. She stretched on the bed a little bit before getting out of it. It was almost like she was dragging herself away from heaven.

Then she moved out of her room, she frowned immediately. It was too quiet.

Unnervingly, quiet.

There was no loud 50s music, the kitchen was empty, the gas stove was clean, the dishwasher was not on.. all in all, it seemed like her grandmother was just not in the house because her loud presence was not there.

She made her way to the Fridge and noticed a post it note.

'Out with the gals. Will be home later.'

Gals? She chuckled. Apparently, at the age of 75, her grandmother's life was more happening than her own. Will be home later, she shook her head at the words. Her grandmother did not even provide her with the time she was going to be home— dear Lord, she sounded like a grandmother herself.

Well, at least she would have the entire house to herself and since she had the entire house to herself, she could do something she had not done for a very long time.

Overthink and bake.

Grace pulled out all the ingredients. She was going to need to bake Pain au chocolat and settle them at the very end of the counter before bringing out her measuring cups.

With two mixing bowls placed in front of her, she began working and so did her mind.

She prepared the yeast and thought about Christian. He was finally back in town or from what she had heard, he was back in the country for three long years.

Three years of complete silence and distance from each other. Three years of zero contact. Three years knowing what was going on in his life.

Somehow, it seems like all of them had come to know about their distance and even Mia had stopped chatting about Christian. She did not even remember the last time she had heard about him from someone.

Had he kept in contact with anyone because it seemed quite unusual for him. The only person he talked to generally was her. so, if not her, then who?

Grace pulled out the door and laid it on the counter before she started to knead on it lightly.

She had not expected to find him at the Gala, especially not with her boss's sister. While she has been quite surprised by his presence, and somehow has decided to ignore him, Christain did not even acknowledge her presence. Not even one glance was sent away.

It was like he chose not to acknowledge someone on the arm of another man.

She stretched it out onto a baking tree before putting it into the fridge and then started to work on the cookies that she was going to bake for her office. Everyone liked chocolate chip cookies.

Somehow, someone she had considered a friend for most of her life that was twenty two years.. their friendship had vanished into thin air.

She sighed as she mixed the dry ingredients before getting started on the wet.

It was sad how their friendship had been forgotten. Like it never existed out of kindergarten when they have been great friends throughout their life, until the day of graduation. After that, there was no communication from his side and nor did he try to reciprocate when she tried.

As she added the chocolate chips, Grace concluded one thing about all of this. Their friendship had been long gone and there was absolutely nothing. She could do it from her side if it was not reciprocated by him.

They were no longer friends.

She no longer had her oldest friend.

Yes, it was sad and She was going to try to make herself better by eating the chocolate croissants that she was going to bake. If she had chosen to tire her mind by overthinking, she could treat her her soul with some chocolate too.
