Chapter 2 - Imprisoned

When he turned 12, Styxx went rogue, the time for revenge had finally come. He killed every official and every soldier that was involved in his kidnapping, the murder of his parents, and the slaughter of everyone from his town.

Styxx finally successfully escaped from the empire's pursuit but unfortunately, Lady Luck was not smiling upon him. He had run into a troop of knights and paladins along with exorcists from the Church, happened to hear rumors of him, and were sent on a mission to either capture him or kill him. Styxx fought well but in the end, he was outnumbered and captured, he then was dragged all the way to the Holy city of Rome and locked him up deep underneath the Vatican.

They tried killing him, but nothing worked; they tried from decapitation to disembowelment. Then these so-called 'holy men' got greedy, the corrupted high officials of the church were wondering if this immortality could be passed down to others or maybe find reason why and replicate it.

They tortured Styxx, experimented on him in all sorts of ways. For 20 years, Styxx didn't see the light of day. In those 20 years, Styxx learned to no longer feel pain, his regeneration quickened and was now practically instantaneous, but the greatest change of all was that he stopped aging when he turned around 16 and 17.

After two decades, it seemed they finally got bored and deemed it useless after all that time with no results. So, they made him a deal; He will be released but he would live on an island where he would have to keep hardcore criminals and enemies of mankind from escaping. Styxx accepted without hesitation, even if they lied and wanted to strand him on an uninhabited island, strapped to a pole, it would be much better than watching the damp and gray dungeon walls for another day.

The church did as they promised, the left him there along with 100 other criminals, on an island smack in the middle of the Indian ocean. He was told every 6 months another boat with prisoners would arrive and no one was to set foot outside of the island.

The island was huge, before they arrived there were no signs of humans ever living here, so the wildlife grew unreserved and free. It was plenty for 101 people to survive, if they knew how. Styxx reminded the criminals that no one should think of escaping or they would die. If they followed that one rule, Styxx didn't care about whatever they did, even if they started killing each other.

Around 300 years passed and Styxx was still on the island. At this point, he had killed thousands, upon thousands of criminals that attempted to escape. Some of the 100 original criminals had created families and some villages were formed after such a long time. In those 300 years, every time people were sent here, he interrogated them for world affairs and current news.

Styxx had found out some very interesting things, for example, that his island infamous around the world. To the world, Styxx's island was a mysterious death island, instead of the supermax prison it was originally, where people were sent and never heard from again. No matter who it was, be it church exorcists or members, or adventurers and reporters, no one left the island. After 300 years Styxx was adamant on his one rule. The people of the island treated him like a god but never interacted with him.

One day, in the beginning decades of the 21st century something changed on planet earth. And Styxx felt it.

Styxx inside his cave, which was located in the middle of the island, opened his eyes wide. He felt it, a new source of life was introduced to the planet and like a trigger, it changed him. Styxx's mind went blank and the swirling silver in his eyes spread across the rest of his eyes, his eyes now resembling silver whirlpool.

"HUNGRYYYYY!!!!!" Styxx roared.

After centuries of never needing the act of eating or drinking, Styxx felt hungry. He frantically looked around him for something to eat, but there was nothing.

Then, he sensed them. His awareness expanded and covered the entire island. That's when he sensed the most delicious things he had ever seen. Hovering balls of gas, of varying sizes and colors, appeared before Styxx's eyes across the island. Some were white, others gray, while others were black.

All that ran through Styxx's mind was how hungry he was and how he needed to devour all those wisps of lights that were moving around the island… and devour he did.

Styxx woke up with the biggest headache of his life but when he tried to get up he stumbled and rolled down a hill. He cursed the entirety of nature for putting that hill there. His eyes swam from dizziness but then his eyes furrowed in confusion. All kinds of information ran through his mind, experiences he never had flashed through his thoughts.

These experiences weren't his but as time passed by and the headache lessened, he felt like they were becoming a part of him. If he wanted to build a house, he felt he could now do it. If he wanted to know how to dissect someone and harvest their organs, Styxx felt like no one could harvest faster and more precisely than him. If he wanted to speak mandarin, he would be confused as a native speaker out in the world, every language was now available in his head.

Where did all this information come from? Styxx wandered as he looked around for clues. He turned around to look at the hill where he fell from, but he stepped back in shock. It was a hill alright, except it wasn't naturally made, it was made of the dead. Thousands of dried up husks were piled up on top of each other and stacked sky-high. It looked like a hill made out of nothing but dried up mummies. The island was down to only one inhabitant now.
