Chapter 5

In the War Room around the Mirrortable was the leaders of the Resistance and Suns teams along with a few of their members. Among the leaders were Luke Cage who lead Jessica Drew, Iron Fist and Daredevil in the Defender group. While Jessica Drew a.k.a Spider-woman oversaw the Young Avengers, which included Kate Bishop Hawkeye, Cassie Lang Ant Girl, Hulking, Wiccan, and Patriot. The Secret Warriors were lead by Daisy Johnson the members of who being Ms. Marvel, Squirrel Girl with her pet squirrel tippy on her shoulder, Nova, Viv, America Chavez, Inferno and Riri Williams aka Ironheart. Peter felt bad for Kamala and Riri to have their idols, Carol and Tony, become less heroic. Riri was stealing glances at Peter and he guess she must thought he hated her for what Tony had done. "We are getting readings of the strange energy which are unique to the Myth creatures, though there seem to be more in numbers and different somehow but we can't say what it is. Either way the beasts are going to cause destruction across New York when they emerge from Tartarus, so we must act." Said Hunter and Steve nodded a gave locations to different teams. Finally Steve said. "Peter your team will go with the Suns to a largest source, here." Steve pointed to an area of the map. Peter nodded and saluted the Captain.

"Count on us Cap." Steve nodded. "I always counted on you Peter." Peter smiled with pride at the respect he heard in Steve's voice. He looked at Hunter. "Just like old times." Hunter nodded while also smiling. "You don't know how much I missed going hunting with you." Luckily Mary Jane didn't take that at a seductive meaning. "I'm coming with you." Peter look at his wife to see the fiery determination in her green eyes. "I nearly lost you because I wasn't there to watch your back. I'm not going to stay here and worry about you. We both have a responsibility to fulfill." Peter wanted to mention May in maybe an attempt to convince MJ to stay when Kevin, seeing what Peter was going to foolishly try to do, spoke. "Your wife is going Pete and so is Ms. Storm. I'll be the one behind worrying all of you while babysitting May and Val." Sue gave a relived look that she wasn't going leave either Valeria or Peter alone while on missions as did Mary Jane who gave the ice spider a grateful hug.

As they headed towards the portal alter Peter saw a guy he never seen before their opening portals wearing colorful clothes like one wore at a Medieval festival with a buisine trumpet in his hands. "That Illyana's pupal, we gave him the name the Portal Herald." Said Blade. "Nice kid. But his portal opening speed still need work like Illyana's." Said Nico jokingly. "Watch it Nico." Warned Magik but was smirking. Arriving through the portal on top of a apartment roof in Harlem they immediately heard screaming and rush to the edge of the building to look down at the street below. "Holy War!" Said Nico for it looked like an unholy war for there were troops firing guns, who look just like Hydra but their armors were all black with their helmets having new additions of horns, four glow red eyeholes and a new logo with a similar face on their armor that Peter didn't recognize. Unlike the other soldiers mixed in with the Hydra troops that resembled warriors from Ancient Greek by the style of their armor, the thing that ruined the pretty authentic looking warriors, who carried wicked looking melee weapons, was the fact that the exposed part of the armor that exposed the skin showed it to be a glowing evilly red color.

The same color as the giant crystal that floated in the middle of carnage, "We need to destroy whatever that crystal is." Hunter said. "Wait I'm sensing dark energy yet something held prisoner inside it." Said Wanda then Hunter look at Peter. "You'll lead this battle Spider-Man." Peter nodded and pulled his mask on, more out of habit since everyone now knew his secret. "Um okay…Resistance Attack!" The heroes leapt into the battle, rescuing civilians and fighting the enemy. From the Hydra troops yelling. "Hail Typhon!", to the glowing red Greek soldiers that were mostly silent except for the roaring battlecries. They also fought half goat men that Peter recalled were known as 'Satyrs', though a twist version with wicked horns coming from the top of their heads and the fanged teeth in their mouths. Who when they were taken down, didn't just fell to the ground and stayed there. But instead they turned into red dust, which got absorbed to the crystal they were protecting and with each enemy defeated another one just appeared to replace the lost one.

It started to seem like the heroes couldn't win the fight and might had to retreat when Peter heard a voice from both over comms and from behind "Need a hand, Pete?!" Looking around Peter smiled beneath his mask at the three new arrivals, which were comprised of She-Hulk who jumped and landed with a fist smash onto a group of Greek soldiers who exploded into a cloud of dust. The second member was Ben Reilly, wearing a new red and gold spider armor that was clearly a Stark design and made. Who joined into the fight with robotic arms coming from his back that stabbed away at some Saytrs, while flying above was the armor hero War Machine laying down cover fire with bullets and missiles.

"War Machine! Target the giant crystal!" Peter yelled as he kicked another Hydra soldier in the face. Luckily Rhode didn't argue and open fired on the crystal that started to crack. But unfortunately a dark voice, that sent a shiver down Peter's spine, spoke from the crystal. "Impressive, your armor may caused a sting, but a course it has an extreme weakness that I know of." Then the crystal suddenly released a red energy wave that caused every nearby electrical power from lights, phones, cars, both outside and insides buildings to go haywire. Because of their web shooters being made in the Forge and since Shield had made it necessary for a defensive against an EMP, the Resistance Spiders web shooters were unaffected because Miles managed to web quickly over to catch a nearby old man who was clutching his chest where he must've had an electric pacemaker. Miles immediately swung to a medical team to treat the man.

While the Resistance was not affected by the wave, the same couldn't be said for Stark's team because Ben's suit locked up on him and fell immobile to the ground. Which was bad but that wasn't the biggest problem "Rhodey!" Peter and Jennifer yelled as the War Machine armor started to spark and glow in places. Peter seen that glow happen once to Stark's armor when the man had to destroy it by activating the self destruct system. Luckily Rhodey manged to eject from his War Machine armor and was falling to the ground when Johnny catch him and brought Rhodey to ground, "Take Cover!" Peter yelled and Johnny used his fire power to shielded Rhodey from the wave of flames that erupted from the War Machine suit exploding.

When the blast disappeared, there was a moment of silence before Caretaker voice spoke into the heroes ears, "Take out the crystal before it can unleashed another attack like that!" Peter nodded "Copy that. She-Hulk, Hunter, Magik! Portal Fast Ball!" Order Peter and using what he was implying Hunter immediately allowed She Hulk to pick her up and throw her into Magik portal. Re-emerging next to the crystal Hunter flew and slashed her glowing blades into the giant jewel, which, because of the damage that War Machine had dealt before, shattered into pieces with a flash of light. With his heightened sight Peter managed to see through the light the form of a figure flying in his direction and he immediately leap up to catch the person. When the light disappeared it revealed the crystal to be in pieces and an excess of the energy was released, along with this all the evil troopers, Hydra, Greek and Saytrs turned to dust and blew away. Again for a few seconds there was silence, then the creepy dark voice from spoke. "Don't worry little ones this was just a little test run. We will meet face to face real soon." And then both the voice and the evil chaotic presence that had been in the air was gone.

With the battle over Peter looked down at the person he caught. Her skin was dark as coco, hair white as snow and her beauty was equal to Mary Jane and Sue in Peter's opinion her outfit was red around her chest and her knee high boots with white lines going around the top and down the center, blue on the lower with white stars adoring it, black on the cape that connected to her silver bracelets on her wrists, and final gold from trimming the cape, to around her waist the middle going up to on top of the red forming a W that went outwards and looped around the sides of her shoulders and finally to a kinda circlet on her forehead with a red star in the middle. She looked familiar though Peter couldn't place where he seen her face and didn't have time because her whole form was flickering, occasionally turning almost transparency before becoming solid and then see through again as if she was a fading spirit.

Peter didn't know what to do to stop the woman from just vanishing, when a soft voice spoke inside his head "Kiss her. Save her by kissing her." Not waiting to question the strange voice, Peter pulled off his mask, cupped the woman's fading cheek and leaned down to touch his lips to hers. As soon as his lips made contact hers Peter felt something like lightning rush up from the woman's mouth and through Peter's body, but instead of feeling like a chard piece of meat Peter felt good and something else. Like the lightning was linking Peter's very soul to the woman's, who body became completely solid as Peter pulled away and letting out gasp she opened her eyes. That was completely white as they gazed at Peter in confusion and wonder, after a minute she opened her mouth to ask in a weak voice, "Who… Who are you?" "I'm Spider-Man, you're safe now."

The woman raised a hand to brush her lips "Did you kissed me?" She was asking in a tone as if for clarification, as if she wanting to be sure before she decked Peter in the face even with how weak her body was. Peter was surprised that he didn't feel embarrassed as he answered "Yes, you was fading and a voice in my head told me to if I wanted to save you I would have to kiss you." The woman still looked unconvinced and pointed to a golden rope hanging from her hip. "Grab that, please." Peter obeyed and wrapped his fingers around the rope which began glowing as the woman took the other end. "Are you a ally of Typhon?" She asked and Peter knew immediately that the rope had a truth spell on it because he immediately answered with complete honesty. "If your talking about the evil voice of the new boss of Hydra, who's image is that horned four eyes guy then no. Especially not after what he just done to my city." The woman nodded. "Are you a protector of this world?" Peter nodded. "Yes I'm part of one two sides of heroes fighting against evil, and speaking of which." Peter look towards She-Hulk, who was checking on Rhodey and then looked at his teammates. "We should probably get out of here before Stark's so called heroes remember they need to arrest us for being heroes. Now can I ask what your name is?"

"My name is Ororo Munro of Themcyra, I'm also known as…" "Storm." Peter said as he finally remembered the woman's face, she was an X-men with the power to control the weather and who had disappeared mysteriously several months ago in Eastern Europe. The fact that she wasn't recognizing Peter meant she was probably suffering from either amnesia or something, because she looked surprised when Peter said her hero name. "You know me?" "Yes, but we're going to have to catch up later, my team have to leave." Peter was about to stand up to leave when Ororo grabbed hold of his costume and he looked at her. "Please, take me with you." She pleaded, which seemed to have taken the last of her energy to use because Ororo collapsed unconscious to the ground. Without thinking about what he was doing Peter scooped up Ororo into his arms just as Mary Jane, Sue, Blade, Ghost Rider and Hunter approached. "It's is Storm, I recognize her energy though there more to it." Said Hunter. "I also sense a bond that is linking her to you Spiderman, almost as an anchor of some kind." Having a feeling what this might mean Peter glanced at Mary Jane and Sue, a bit worry that they might get some jealous feelings about the mutant in their lover arms. But Peter was both surprised and actually not too surprised when Mary Jane looked at him with a normal expression as she mouthed 'We'll discuss this later.'

"Are sensing any evil vibes in her?" Blade asked as the other Web Warriors, Fantastic Four and Midnight Suns also approached. "There is no evil in her soul." Said Ghost Rider firmly. "Good, then we best be leaving…" Said Mary Jane. "Shield will be here any minute." The others agreed and then. "Hold it!" The voice belonged to Ben Reilly, who managed to unlock his frozen armor and looked ready to attack. "You think you can walk away criminals?" Peter glared at his brother. "I was surprise you could walk away from our family Ben, and joining Stark after what he did to all of us?" Ben golden armor gleamed in the sunlight as he glared at the original Spider-Man. "I'm done being in your shadow Pete, sorry you think I'm the villain now, but official I'm still seen as a hero while the lot of you are criminals." Mary Jane glared at Ben as she asked "What made you hate us so much brother?" Her words clearly shocked Ben because him flinching back as if the Hulk had just dropped in front of him. "You… you think I hate you guys?!" Mary Jane continued to speak as she gave Ben a cold stare. "Well let's see, you joined Stark after he nearly killed my husband. You gave that asshole Aunt May as a barging chip to not be thrown into a cell and capture your other brother Kaine. You see Ben, usually when someone says you are free from someone's shadow, that indicated that there some resentment to who ever shadow you think your under. And that fact you say that we are criminals after a battle against a foe like we just fought, means you actually believe all of Stark's and Shields bullshit."

There was a tense moment before Mary Jane's face softened and she held out her hand towards Ben, even as She-Hulk, carrying Rhodey, came up behind him and the others of Peter's team formed up behind him looking ready for a fight. "Come home Ben. Come back to your family." For a moment Ben didn't move, then he shook his head. "I can't go with you MJ." Mary Jane was about to drop her hand when suddenly Jennifer stepped forward and took it as she said. "But we will."

"What?" Many voices said at once. "We need to learn about what the hell those strange Greek monster things was. Clearly you have a bit more knowledge than us, so if you're willing to let me and Rhodey tag along, we can be a go between. As well that Forge Tony mentioned is at your Abby could be used to make Rhodey a better suit to be able to handle whatever this Typhon threat is." Everyone look at Peter and Hunter for answers. "We were planning on informing Stark of the threat for him to be prepared, despited him becoming the madman he has become." Said Hunter. "Having you two accompany us could help get through to him. So you may come, but understand Jennifer, that when you're at Abby. Your so called authority means nothing, the SHRA has no power in the sanctuary for the true heroes. Do you understand She-Hulk?" Hunter tone was clear that she wasn't joking. Jennifer nodded. "Just because we support Registration, doesn't mean we're all monsters." "Then prove you haven't forgotten what heroes are which doing what's right because it right regardless what those in power say is the right way." Jennifer nodded and looked at Ben, "Tell Tony that we will be in touch soon." Then Hunter turned to Magik who nodded and opened a portal. Just as they were about to leave the citizens around began cheering.

"They are seeing hope that heroes can work together again instead of fight pointlessly." Said Peter as he walked through the portal and the others agreed. A couple of minutes after they were gone, Shield soldiers arrived and Ben looked around at the people who went from cheering to booing. "Get out of here Stark Dog!" A few called him and Ben realized he did made the wrong choice in not going with his family, 'I won't the next time' Ben decided as he took off before he could be part of a lynching.

Arriving back at the Abby Peter took the still unconscious Storm to the new medical building, where they found Steve helping a couple of the wounded heroes some were from Stark's team. Peter saw Wasp, Hercules surprisedly, Venom who was getting a control chip remove from back of his neck. There was also Wonderman, Riri and a few other tech base heroes, but no villains except for the Hand Assassin Elektra, and Songbird who were also getting chips out their next. Peter saw Daredevil kneeling next to Elektra's bed and holding her hands as they talked quietly like the lovers that they were which made Peter smile. Also in the infirmary was more than the modern heroes, there were warriors in Greek styles armor or clothes that unconscious in beds as well. "More from those crystals." Peter assume as he laid Ororo onto her own bed, as he pulled away Peter almost unconsciously stroked a lock of her white hair affectionately before realizing what he was doing and pulled away to leave and going give his report to Steve.
