Privilege

BUMABA si Reese sa kotse na pinarada niya sa harap lang ng villa.

She was surprised to see an unfamiliar blue car parked beside her car and she did not hear anything about having a visitor by dinner.

Reese held her clutch bag and looked at the front porch of the villa, curious as to who might be the visitor.

She immediately made her way inside the villa and from the doorway she could hear a female voice.

Reese already had the idea that the voices came from the living room.

With her poker-face, she made her way to the living room and saw Butler Mo in front of the doorway to the living room.

"Good evening, young lady…" Bati sa kanya ni Butler Mo.

Without taking any peek inside the living room, Reese asked Butler Mo with curiosity.

"I was not informed that we'll be having a visitor this late. Is Severus already home?"

Butler Mo cleared his throat. "Actually, that's not the case, young lady —"

"My wife's home!" A drunk-like voice suddenly exclaimed.

Reese looked at Severus who was very drunk to even stand up in front of her.

"What the hell?" Reese mumbled and she was surprised when Severus went to her and gave her a hug.

"Where were you? What took you so long?" Severus asked with his eyes merely open.

Reese sighed. "Shouldn't I be the one to ask you questions?" Wika ni Reese at tinignan si Butler Mo.

"Ah, I'm sleepy… so sleepy…" Severus rested his head on Reese's shoulder.

"He's drunk, really drunk!" Wika ni Reese at bumuntong hininga. "How did he drive himself home?" Reese asked.

"He really did make himself drunk." Reese heard a sudden chuckle beside Butler Mo.

She saw Lily with a smile. That reminds her with the unfamiliar car parked she saw outside.

"Ah, it's you." Nakangiting wika niya. "Lily? Lily Annesley, right?" Reese added.

"Ah, yes. Sorry for the sudden intrusion this late." Nakangiting wika ni Lily sa kanya.

"It's fine. No big deal." Reese simply replied.

Reese felt the pain on her shoulder because Severus was slowly getting unconscious and Reese can't keep her balance anymore.

"Butler Mo, can you help me bring this drunk one upstairs?" Reese asked Butler Mo.

"Yes, young lady." Wika ni Butler Mo at inalalayan si Severus paakyat sa taas.

Reese looked at Lily who was watching Butler Mo and Severus carefully going upstairs.

So, Reese tried to get her attention. She cleared her throat and gave her a smile.

"Thanks for sending my husband back. It might be dangerous for him to drive in that state." Reese said and she also chuckled.

"It's fine. Besides, it's not like we're strangers." Wika ni Lily na tila ba may iba pa na ibig sabihin.

"May I ask the reason he got drunk?" Reese asked her.

"Ah, we had a class reunion earlier. Severus got really excited and there we go, he got drunk." Sagot ni Lily at mahinang natawa.

"Ah, I see." Simpleng wika niya. "Would you like some tea before you go? It would be kind of rude for me not to offer you anything." Reese added and asked her with politeness.

Reese has to at least keep her cool even though she's pissed off.

"No, need. I have to get going too, it's kind of late already." Lily replied with a smile.

"If that's the case," Reese paused and left her purse on the table. "Should I see you out then?"

Tanging tango lang ang sagot ni Lily sa kanya, kaagad na hinatid ni Reese palabas si Lily hanggang sa makaabot sila sa kotse.

Before Lily could even get inside the car, Reese stopped her from doing so by calling her out.

The politeness she had disappeared as soon as they left to go outside.

"Lily." Reese simply called her out.

It stopped Lily from getting inside her car and Lily immediately looked at her with confused expression.

"Yes?"

Reese gave a sarcastic smile and she looked at Lily with her fierce eyes and cold expression.

"Next time if my husband gets drunk, you can just call me instead so I could pick him up." Reese said it with caution.

Lily froze and it felt like she did not expect that coming from her. Anong akala nito sa kanya? She's not that stupid to not know Lily's intentions.

"Ah, sure." Simpleng sagot ni Lily sa kanya.

"But, I guess there won't be a next time. That would only be an "if"." Reese said in a low voice but it was enough for Lily to hear.

"I guess so…"

Reese gave a winning smile at Lily and Reese then knew that she hit a struck offense at Lily.

"Well then, ingat." Paalam ni Reese at tinalukuran ito.

What's so good with being a damn old lover? Is being someone's old lover a big privilege?
