Half-century later.
Sitting in front of her work table, Reese doesn't know how long it has been since Severus' death and nothing changed much since then. She couldn't find him and she was impatient about it.
For 50 years, a lot has happened.
When Kier killed Reese's father using the silver bullet he had, the view and impression the elders gave Reese was outstanding. And she then found out that the third elder, Lord Knik, was Kier's father, he was the vampire living in the mortal world which gave him the idea of Reese's weakness back then.
She got married to Kier that day Severus died, she had no choice and 20 years later, she gave birth to her first child. Sadly, it was Kier and hers. She also had no choice but to bear an heir to train to follow in her footsteps.
Reese stopped aging 50 years ago, she still looked young and still looked the same ever since. She almost looked like her son was her own sibling. She grew civilized ruling the clan under her care, that she was the first half-human, half-vampire that ruled a clan- that outstood the other higher ranked pure bloods.
Reese went back to her senses as soon as she saw her son, Kalix, walk inside the mansion.
"Kalix, where did you go?" Reese asked her son.
Her son smiled at her and sat on the vacant chair, "I just went for a walk at the rose garden, mother. As I expected, they were taking care of your roses dearly." Sagot nito kay Reese.
Kier, who was sitting just across Reese, then asked their son. "Have you finished doing the work I gave you, Kalix?" Kier asked Kalix.
"Yes, I did, father." Sagot ni Kalix kay Kier.
For 20 years she had raised her son for the vampire he should be, Reese can proudly say that her son was the next person she treasures dearly. But, Reese just couldn't stop herself from thinking that- what if she had a child with Severus?
Reese gently smiled at her son. "You did great, Kalix. I can see you're ready to inherit my position. I raised you as a fine, young leader." Mahinang wika ni Reese sa anak na si Kalix.
Reese closed the book she was holding and once again looked at Kalix. She felt really sorry for her son, that she had a mother like her. She fell in great depression after losing Severus and up until now, she wasn't able to let go of him.
That she was still not ready to believe that he was dead and she kept on trying hard to find Severus in his second life. She was still mourning with his sudden death 50 years ago.
His death had stopped Reese from being happy.
With a heavy heart, Reese looked at Kier. She felt big guilt towards Kier, her 50 years of marriage with him shows and made Reese realize that she doesn't deserve Kier's love and care for she never answered those affectiones.
For so long Reese had to bear with her heart broken, but this time, she finally decided one thing and that she already gave up with everything and she grew impatient. She never wanted to make this decision, but the more she forces herself to stay, the more guilt she feels for her son and for Kier.
She was grateful for Kier and her son, and she knew that Kalix knows everything he has to learn, that he can handle himself by now- that he was already to take over.
"Kier…" Reese called Kier out of the blue.
Kalix and Kier were surprised when she suddenly called Kier.
"Yes?" Kier answered.
Reese looked at Kier straight in the eyes. "Can you leave me and Kalix alone? I have something to talk to him about."
Without any question, Kier stood up and left the place. Reese was now left alone with her son, she wanted to talk to him… one last time.
Reese looked at Kalix with a smile. "I'm happy that you grew up to be the person your father and I wanted, Kalix. I'm happy to have you as my son." Wika ni Reese at marahan na bumuntong hininga.
"It's not like I have a choice, mother. I am an immortal, I was born to be your heir, mother." Sagot ng anak niya na si Kalix.
Reese felt like she sees herself on her son, the person who has no choice but to do what she has to do. Reese doesn't want Kalix to experience the same she did, after all, Kalix is her son- her only child.
"I view immortality as a curse rather than a blessing, truth to be told. Being a vampire was something I regret." Saad ni Reese sa anak at tila bakas sa mukha nito ang pagkagulo at mukhang hindi nito maintindihan ang punto ng sinasabi niya.
But it was enough for her to tell him about a thing she viewed.
Reese then removed the necklace she wore for the past 50 years, where her father's pendant and the wedding ring she and Severus had was. For the past 50 years, the only ring she had worn was the ring she and Kier had, but she kept this thing close to her always.
Reese removed the ring on the necklace, leaving the pendant on the chain and handed the talisman pendant to her son.
Kalix accepted the pendant and looked at it with curiosity.
"Why are you giving this to me, mother?" Kalix asked her.
"You're the next clan leader, Kalix. I am only handing you the thing that should be yours from now on." Reese simply answered.
Reese was surprised when she saw that Kalix's eyes were fixed on the wedding ring she was holding, her wedding ring with Severus. And she knew that Kalix was about to ask about it, and she immediately stood up and went to Kalix to hug her son.
From the moment she hugged Kalix, her decision was more concrete than from the moment she had decided it. Nothing was able to stop her from her decision anymore. She has waited for this long and she already achieved what she had to do.
"I'm sorry for everything, Kalix. I did my best to be your mother, you should always live well." Wika ni Reese sa anak.
Confused with the situation, Kalix asked her suddenly. "Mother, are you feeling unwell?" Kalix asked her with worry in his voice.
Umiling si Reese sa anak at ngumiti. This is it, this is where everything ends.
"Would you do me a favor, Kalix?" Reese asked her son, forcing herself not to cry.
"What is it, mother?" Kalix replied.
"Would you kindly pick some fresh red roses for me? I want five red roses, bring it to me. I'll be waiting." Saad ni Reese sa anak.
Kalix did not ask further, he immediately obeyed her favor and left the mansion. That was the time Reese, who was strong for the past years, grew impatient. The smile she was wearing wore off as she left the place to go to her room and fetch the things she would be needing before going to the graveyard.
Reese looked at the only picture she had of Severus, she did not waste any minute and removed the wedding ring she had with Kier and wore the ones she had with Severus. She opened her cupboard and took the wooden stake she kept all these years.
Without wasting any minute, she went to the hidden garden graveyard where Faith and Severus were buried. She knelt in front of Severus' grave and she gently caressed his tombstone. She cried in front of the grave and she felt really weak.
Reese won't deny that she did feel happy these past 50 years, watching her son grow up and being able to get married once again. But, all these years, Reese still felt longing- she still felt sadness and misery losing the person she doesn't want to lose.
Reese held the wooden stake and as she cried in front of Severus grave, "I am tired, Severus. I can't wait for you anymore, I'm sorry." She gently whispered before stabbing herself in the heart using the wooden stake.
Reese doesn't know if the stab should have hurted her, but she couldn't feel any pain.
Sorry. Goodbye.
