133 Package Delivery

The next morning, Department Head Shirona Yui woke up feeling refreshed. If she was being honest with herself, it has been quite a while since the last time she's had any fun like this.

With that thought in mind, Shirona Yui turned over in bed, only to discover that the other side was empty. At first, she was a bit confused, wondering if the events of the previous day were just all her imagination. After carefully going over those memories and checking her current state of dress or lack thereof, this confusion morphed into a state of self-depreciation.

'Sigh. It seems that I'm the only one that enjoyed last night if he's already gone before I even woke up.' There was a sad smile on Shirona Yui's face as she thought this as she touched the side of the bed that Wang Xu was on the night before, not feeling the slightest hint of warmth.

Feeling disappointed, Shirona Yui grabbed the bedsheet and wrapped it around her body before leaving the bedroom. That said, the bedsheet did nothing to hide her curves from being exposed to the walls of the apartment.

As she entered the kitchen, Shirona Yui passed by the dining room table, only to notice a few dishes that were covered up along with a precariously placed note in the middle. Seeing this, she took up the note and started reading it.

'Sorry about leaving so early but there are some personal things that I've got to take care of before heading to work. That, and I had to get a fresh change of clothes. I hope that you'll accept the humble peace offering I've prepared for your breakfast. Also, thanks for the 'tea' last night. It was quite tasty.'

'PS, you've hidden quite deep. I never expected that you'd have such an amazing charm hidden under the plain look that you portray daily. It was a real eye-opener.'

'Also, I never thought you would have a tattoo in such a location. It seems like you're not as plain and innocent as you appear to everyone else. Hehehe.'

Upon reading the last line, a light blush formed on Shirona Yui's face, and her legs were unintentionally clamped together. The reason behind this stems from the fact that she has a small butterfly tattoo on her left inner thigh.

With the memory of the events of the previous night flashing through her mind, that light blush grew in size and covered her entire face. This went on for a few seconds before her stomach growled, reminding her of why she went to the kitchen in the first place.

Since the food was already prepared for her, Shirona Yui just sat down and started her meal. As she ate, her mind ran on the man she was with last night, wondering what kind of business he had to take care of so early.

Meanwhile, at Wang Xu's apartment...

Wang Xu had just walked out of the shower. As soon as he walked into his bedroom, he released a sneeze.

Rubbing his nose, Wang Xu thought to himself, 'Someone must have been thinking about me just now. I wonder who it was?'

Although he thought that for a moment, Wang Xu immediately threw the idea into the back of his mind a few seconds later. He then sat down on his bed before putting the gaming helmet on and starting it up.

'I'll give them a heads up for now before immediately logging out.' That was Wang Xu's last thought before he lost consciousness.

*******

Roughly twenty minutes later, Wang Xu removed his gaming helmet and stared at the bedroom ceiling. The reason for this was because he was still shocked by the rate of development of his base.

During the period of a few days, in-game-wise, those former bandits had managed to finish digging out the entirety of the first floor.

In fact, had he not logged in to inform Jackson of his plans to storm the bandit base later on and that they should head to the meetup spot in advance, Wang Xu was sure that those former bandits would have already begun developing the first floor.

For a bunch of people that were formerly bandits, they were a bit too efficient with their construction work.

With a wry smile on his face, Wang Xu shook his head free of those thoughts and got dressed. For now, he had hurry out of his apartment before he's late. He left the embrace of a beautiful woman in order to deal with his own private matters so it would do well for him to be late for work after doing so.

As Wang Xu was leaving the apartment, he made sure to grab a few extra items from the living room. These were important items that he couldn't afford to leave behind unless he plans to spend yet another night away from home.

*******

It was roughly a few minutes after eight when Wang Xu made it to work. As usual, he waved and greeted his various coworkers upon entering the building. This time, however, Wang Xu noticed that a few of them were looking at him with curious eyes.

Wang Xu was admittedly confused by the number of persons looking at him with probing expressions but he figured out the reason roughly five minutes later.

At this point, Wang Xu had just made it to the second floor of the building and was heading to the security post when he noticed a certain bespectacled woman with plain looks walking from another direction.

Upon seeing this, he immediately observed everyone present, only to realize that they were casting hidden glances at both him and this woman. Needless to say, this woman was the Department Head of HR for the Sanming Gaming Studio, Shirona Yui.

When the two crossed paths, Wang Xu gave her a simple greeting and received one in return. Seeing this, those curious eyes looking for a bit of early morning drama were slightly disappointed.

Unfortunately for them, they missed the slight exchange between the duo as soon as they walked by each other. Or rather, the exchange was too fast and perfectly hidden in a blind spot for all those present.

It was only when Wang Xu had walked into the changing room, away from the excess of prying eyes that he decided to take out the note. As soon as he read it, a smirk formed on his lips as he imagined the author's face as she wrote it.

'Meet me at xxx during the lunch hour. Make sure you aren't seen on route.'

As simple as the note looked, Wang Xu could tell that it wasn't easy for her to write just these words. This could be seen from the few traces still present on the piece of paper in his hand.

Sadly for her, Wang Xu wasn't about to go out of his way just so both of them could talk in peace. He was the kind of guy that abhorred such restrictions.

Luckily for him, with the items that he brought from home, he has the perfect excuse to waltz right into her office. Now, all he had to do was find a box and some tape to make it official.

As for when he plans on dropping by her office, Wang Xu decided to do that after finishing his morning rounds. It's the perfect time to do so since it's before the lunch break. That, and it won't arouse any curiosity from others to see him dropping off a package at that time of the day.

With those thoughts in mind, Wang Xu quickly changed into his security guard uniform and got to work, after boxing up the 'items'.

*******

It was around a quarter past eleven when Department Head Shirona decided to take a break from her desk. She's been hard at work all morning, dealing with various documents.

After standing up and stretching her arms for a bit, Department Head Shirona left her office and walked out of the HR Department. As she left, she felt a few stares passing over her body but they never lingered longer than a few seconds.

She could tell from these stares that the members of her department were gossiping about her leaving with Wang Xu the previous day. It was such an out-of-character move on her part that they couldn't help being curious about the whole ordeal. That said, at least they had the common courtesy to keep their glances short, many as they were.

As she thought this, Shirona Yui walked the corridors and after a few twists and turns, she appeared before a female restroom. Since working in front of a computer all morning has left her eyes feeling a bit dry, Shirona Yui decided to head to the restroom to freshen up.

By the time she had returned to the HR Department, it was now half-past eleven. As soon as she stepped inside, Shirona Yui noticed that she was receiving a few strange gazes.

At first, she tried her best to ignore these gazes but she could feel that there was something wrong with them. It wasn't until she had stepped into her personal office that she figured out the reason behind those stares.

Standing by her desk with a package in hand was a certain security guard. Upon seeing him, she stopped slightly and raised an eyebrow.

When he heard someone entering the office, the security guard turned around and came face-to-face with the department head. There was a neutral expression on his face as he placed the box on her desk and spoke up,

"Ma'am, a package has been dropped off for you at the front desk and I was tasked with delivering it. Please be sure to check it's contents carefully and report to the security post if there's anything wrong."

After he finished speaking, the guard nodded to her slightly before calmly walking out of the office. Shirona Yui watched as the guard left in a calm and composed manner, not even bothering to look back.

Seeing him acting like that caused Shirona Yui to furrow her eyebrows slightly, wondering what to make of it. After a few seconds of thinking, her eyebrows smoothened out before shrugging to herself. For now, she'll just think that he's doing it to spare them both of any issues at work.

With that out of the way, Shirona Yui walked over and sat down at her desk. She was about to go back to work but then her eyes landed on the box that was placed down earlier.

Thinking back to the words that he had said earlier, Shirona Yui decided to open up the box. The moment she did so, she was immediately greeted with three items; a pair of gloves, a set of needles, and two small knives. There was also a note sitting in the middle of these items.

Shirona Yui ignored the other items for now and focused on the note. As soon as she unfolded it, she noticed the dense cluster of information written on it in small font. While she could still read what it says, she found it to be a bit painful on the eyes. Doing her best to ignore the slight irritation building up, she read the note.

'Once again, sorry for leaving early but I had a few things I needed to prepare. As for the stuff in the box, you can treat them as training gear. The instructions on how to use each can be found closer to the end of this note. By the time you've mastered each one, you'll notice that the energy within your body will be purified and refined to a certain degree. I suggest that you start with the small knives.'

After reading up to this point, Shirona Yui glanced at the small knives. From her perspective, she couldn't identify anything unique about them but Wang Xu did say that the instructions to use them will come later so she'll hold off on making any judgements for the moment.

She then focused back on the note and continued, 'As for the list of herbs, you can forget about them for now. Practicing with those three weapons should adjust your internal energy enough to make use of my technique. That said, you'll need to have mastered all three weapons AND completely refine all the energy inside your body. This basically means that you'll probably have to start training it properly again.'

Those words caused a slight frown to form on her face as she doesn't remember telling Wang Xu about her being truant with her training. After thinking about it for a bit, she snorted slightly, guessing that he probably figured it out for himself while she was asleep last night. She then continued reading the note.

'As for meeting up, that will have to wait a bit as I've got some stuff to take care of on my end. I advise you to keep an eye out as I doubt last night will be the last time that something happens. Also, be careful of those around you as well.'

After reading this, a loud sigh was released from Shirona Yui. Luckily for her, she was in an office all by herself and the door was closed so no one heard her. She then glanced over the rest of the note, looking at the instructions for each weapon and a few suggestions on how to train with them.

That left her in a good mood, one which made her forget that she was at work and that she was now smiling. It was too bad that there wasn't anyone present to see it as it momentarily showed off her charm.

Well, maybe someone did see it but who's going to own up to it.
