Chapter 13

"Ah.. Peace and quiet truly is a beautiful thing."

Duan Cai smiled as he sipped on a fresh cup of tea. He was not fond of earth's heavy things such as coffee. Tea was something he much preferred to sip on compared to a hot cup of coffee like most mortals around him seemed to enjoy. It peeked his interest that they would enjoy such a thing like that. When it came to drinks he preferred the thing he was drinking now. Drinking and eating was something he was not use to doing, but since he had a mortal body he learnt that doing those two things was something his mortal figure required to work properly. In his previous world he was not required to indulge himself in either one of those two things so he had never bothered with it before. Some of the things he found brought to him were rather pleasant, however, so he did not complain about it much unless they brought him something he could not tolerate.

The first time Duan Cai tried a cup of coffee it was not only extremely hot but the taste was bitter and disgusting. Maids that were near by had all shrunk in fear after he had taken a drink of it because he had thrown the cup of coffee at the wall and began yelling about how badly he was displeased with it. Duan Cai was a calm and relaxed man, but when it came to things he was displeased with he was not afraid to raise his voice or get violent if required. It was not often that side of him would show so very few could endure it when under the pressure. At the time the maid that had brought the coffee to him had even ran out of the room crying with another maid chasing after her in attempt to calm her nerves. He had debated at that time whether or not he should work on his temper a bit, but decided to not bother with it. Changing for the sake of mortals around him? Preposterous, they should endure him or get out.

Duan Cai propped his foot up on the coffee table in front of him and smiled. The nice and cool taste of tea sliding down his throat as he sipped slowly. He could feel the presence of someone coming towards his mansion. There was a reason he had agreed to allow himself to stay in the mansion while he sent Leon away. It was not as simple as obeying a pleading of his right hand man. If the man was willing to accept a task such as coming after him he knew the man would not be so cowardly to ambush him on a local street.

An intense aura started to cause the air around the Inferno Nexus to shake violently. It was clear someone was trying to call Duan Cai outside. The air itself felt heavy and hot like the mansion had just fallen into a sauna causing everyone to sweat. A smile was on Duan Cai's face as he slowly sat his cup of tea down and stood up. Panicked expressions were on all of his servants as he walked past them slowly. There was no need to rush things because he was not worried about a fight with some lowly mortal cultivator and he was not willing to rush himself for the sake of someone trying to raise such a ruckus on his domain.

"Should I condone you for your bravery to cause my servants to suffer such a foolish display of fire?" Duan Cai asked with a wide smile as he slowly walked out of his mansion doors with a loud bang as the doors slammed open against the walls. To make himself look a bit showy for the fool who was trespassing he had used his aura to throw the doors open instead of using his hands.

His eyes were glowing a bright gold as he stared the man down. As much as Duan Cai did not care about mortals his mortal body was still filled with emotion from seeing them all in pain from the hot and suffocating aura. It made him feel very unpleasant. He was displeased with being forced to feel such a thing for something he felt nothing towards. It was something he could not comprehend and did not want to. It gave him the urge to destroy the thing that was causing him to feel such a thing.

"So you're the royal dragon? This must be a joke." Juniper laughed as he slowly stepped out from behind a tree and smirked with excitement.

"I should say the same to you.. I heard you are suppose to be a phoenix of the Kaen sect, but waltsing right into my domain and causing such a ruckus like this.. You must be either brave or stupid.. I can not decide which right now." Duan Cai laughed to himself as he looked at the man in his white kimono. Juniper's long red hair blowing in the breeze like waves in water.

Juniper shook with excitement to fight someone who was finally worth his attention. It almost made his mouth water as his eyes glanced around to survey his surroundings quick and precise before pinning his view down on Duan Cai. The cross shape in his red eyes was enough to catch Duan Cai's attention for a moment because it was something mortals don't usually have. There was no time to question it, however because the sight of Juniper vanished with a loud sounding boom in the air.

It was like a rocket shot off from the ground as Juniper's fist slammed right against Duan Cai's own fist. The speed of the movement was enough to shock Duan Cai for a moment. Even at sage level of cultivation the force behind Juniper's movements were stronger than most cultivators of his rank that he had seen so far. It was not enough to make Duan Cai worry, however, it was something that peeked his interest.

Juniper's aura started to burn around his body as his eyes exuded a black color of aura. If one did not understand it was his distinct aura they could almost assume he was possessed by a demon. Killing intent was heavily filling the area as Juniper kept landing punch after punch at Duan Cai with sonic booms. Each movement was precise, but blocked by Duan Cai.

"Well, you ain't so bad." Duan Cai admired the movements of his attacker with a smile.
