New Beginnings

Glaring sunlight hit my eyes. I warded it off with my arm. The fresh smell of grass hit me and i could feel dirt beneath my feet. Blinking, my eyes cleared and i could see that i was in a clearing in the middle of a forest, Tall Pine tree's surrounded me and i warily spun in a small circle. Dressed in what i could only describe as an old tunic and basic brown pants i looked every inch the medieval peasant. It suddenly hit me, "Holy shit! This is incredible!" i exclaimed, my fist pumping into the air. It all felt so real, i could feel the tunic brush against my skin, the pants clinging to my legs.Reaching down i picked up a rock and threw, it soared through the air and bounced off one of the trees. I took in a huge breath, holding it.

"Greeting's Traveler" came a voice from behind.

I spun quickly and before me stood a vision of beauty. Tall, with fair hair, blue eyes and an hourglass figure dressed in headless plate armour was probably the most beautiful woman i'd ever seen. Her armour was plain, without ornament and strapped to her back was a greatsword near her size.

"Y.. you scared me miss" i croaked out hoarsely, i had never been good with people, prefering to hide online. It was why i had no friends. Combined with the surprise, ofcourse, i ended up sounding like an idiot, internally i face palmed crying out to whatever god to strike me down, they all ignored me, presumably too amused to let me die.

"I apologize Traveler that was not my intent, Welcome to my world. Please think "menu" to continue"

I deflated instantly. An NPC. A tutorial NPC at that. Ofcourse, why wouldn't there be one? I had just started. Feeling silly i thought "menu" and in front of me a list of options appeared. Equipment, Inventory, Stats, Skills, Game Options, Log out. I thought "Inventory" and an empty list replaced the previous menu, thinking "back" took me back. Seemed intuitive.

"I see you have taken to your menu quickly, that is good and will ensure a smooth transition to the world. You may now ask me a few questions"

"Are you anyone important?" i ask, more comfortable knowing she's just an NPC.

"Yes and no, this world will be populated by your kind but you can think of me as a kind of angel. We will be observing from above, it is unlikely you will ever see another one of us again."

"Where do i go next?"

"From here you have a few options, the nearest town is about a kilometre to your east. It's a small place called Forestside, there you can get food, lodging and some basic supplies. Alternatively You can head northwest for about eleven kilometres to find the nearest city. Lakeview has an adventurer's guild, and more shop choices."

"How do I-"

"That is all my time with you, good luck on your adventure Traveler." Angel seemed to stretch and a pair of light-shrouded wings appeared, she knelt and with a single push from her wings she took flight, straight up. I watched her until the was barely visible against the sky.

"Well, fuck me i guess. How does she even fly with all that armour?"

Continuing to mutter to myself "Wait, which way is East?"
