Chapter 16: Goodbye Orphanage

(MC's POV)
It's been two weeks since I talked with All Might in the hospital and the processing of my adoption has been completed.
I already finished packing my things with the help of Izuku and Bakugou, and it is ready for transfer.
The children in the orphanage are crying but I told them that I'll be visiting them often and I don't live that far from this place because I'm planning to study in UA Highschool in the future.
In front of the orphanage, there's the orphanage caretaker teary-eyed as she waved her hand at me.
"Take care, Ichika. Don't cause trouble to your new family."
"I'll be fine."
When a black car arrived, I glanced at Izuku and Bakugou,
"I'm going now. Deku, Kacchan-- Let's just meet at school."
Izuku waved at me while Bakugou looks annoyed and glared away from me
"Tch!"
I just waved my hand at the children then entered the car.
When the car left with me as I looked behind getting farther from the orphanage, I sighed then sit properly.
Several minutes later, the car stops in front of the huge luxurious skyscraper. My cheek twitched seeing my new home and I'll be living with All Might who adopted me. He told me that he won't be at home that much because he's very busy with his hero work.
He should at least come to take me from the orphanage himself as my new father but he's still at the hospital, recovering from his serious injury.
"I guess, he doesn't really know that much parenting."
I also understand that he can't take that risk because I was adopted by him secretly. We both have to hide our real identity.
"From here on, this place will be my new home."
I mumbled as I jumped out of the car.
"I'll call Rumi later about this building later but... this place looks quite expensive. As expected from the No.1 Hero, he might be someone rich."
I looked around the building and I remember that he always stays on Might tower in case that he will be needed by the other heroes for help.
"I'm quite envious."
I sighed and decided to enter the building.

Several months later, All Might finally recovered and discharged from the hospital. To celebrate the occasion, All Might treat me a dinner on a expensive restaurant.
Looking at him now after sustaining permanent damage from All For One, his declining health reduced him to a very skinny man with sharp, angular features and long limbs, his neck long and his eyebrows absent.
He looks deflated of his former form.

I excitedly cut the steak on my plate and tasted it.
"Hmm... Not bad. It's the taste of my victory against you."
All Might was quiet as he stares at me.
"I-Ichika... About your adoption---"
"It's fine."
I pointed my fork at him.
"I'm available for adoption anyway and I can't stay on that place forever."
"Are you not angry?"
"I'm not but... You really have the guts to adopt someone like me who is the child of your worse enemy."
I continued eating.
"In this past several years when you appeared as Captain Falcon, all I saw is good on you. Even though you're a Vigilante that illegally hunts criminals, you've been a great help to me in lessening the burden of being the Symbol of Peace. Just look at the people who adores you, a lot of them has already thought of you as a great hero."
All Might sighs as he continued speaking.
"Look at me now, Ichika---No! Captain Falcon. I can only now become a symbol of peace for few hours. After the people learned about our conditions, the number of crimes slowly rise up again this past several months."
"In other words, you want to convince me to carry that symbol? I refuse."
...
All Might became silent.
"You are the only one who can become the Symbol of Peace. In the first place there's a big difference on how we do things. An outlaw like Captain Falcon can't become that symbol. I'm not really that heroic that loves saving people like you. I just don't have that passion."
"Then Falcon... Few years ago, I found a news that you saved a young girl from being rape by a bunch of thugs."
"Oh, that incident? I was going on a shortcut on a alleyway at that time when I found them doing something unpleasant to a pretty young girl. I was on a bad mood and I need something to vent out so I beat the sh*t out of those thugs because they are blocking my path. Saving the pretty girl was just a bonus." I explained, denying that I'm heroic.
"What about the purse snatcher you caught three years ago?"
"I was selling orphanage cookies to an old woman when someone snatched her purse. I was pissed off because I didn't sell that much that day so I chase after that snatcher and vent my frustrations on him."
"What about those robbers in the jewelry store---"
"I was working hard to earn money for the orphanage when I saw them getting an easy money out of robbery. I became furious and beat the sh*t out of them!"
"The rampaging villain near the convenience sto---"
"That bastard bumped on me on purpose and spilled my milk juice on the ground! I beat the sh*t out of him out until he learns his lesson!"
I was already out of breath, explaining everything to him.
"See! I'm not heroic at all!"
"----Then... why did you fought against All for One?"
"Personal reasons... I just hate him for messing my life."
I looked away.

There's was an awkward silence between us.
Drinking my glass of juice then put it back in the table.
"After showing my real form and revealing my identity, he must realized now that I'm his son. I'm sure, he'll go after me."
"Huh? Ichika? Whom are you talking about?"
All Might looks confused.
"Of course, my real father 'All for One'."
"Did we already defeated him? We blew up his head!"
"He escaped death. He's still alive and kicking."
All Might trembled and he was completely shock.
"T-that's a lie--"
"I'm telling the truth."
Gritting his teeth in frustration,
"So it wasn't enough..."
After I finish my meal, I stood up as I wipe my mouth with a tissue.
"Thanks for the food."
"Falcon..."
He looked at me.
"All Might--No! I shall call you 'Dad' from now on. We shouldn't talk this kind of things in this place. Let's go home."
"Okay..."
All Might stood up and walked out of the restaurant with me.

Arriving home at night, we sat on a couch together.
"Oh, that's right, Ichika--- You told me that you will apply for hero course and become a Pro Hero someday. You're saying that you're not heroic at all."
"What I'm trying to say is that I can't become that Symbol of Peace that you're expecting to be--- Yeah, I said I'll become a Pro Hero someday but that's because I haven't found what I want to do. Even a child like me has a dream which is not just being a hero. I also have the right to choose my future."
All Might leaned his back of the couch, glancing above on the ceiling.
"So you haven't thought much of what you gonna do in the future."
"You're expecting too much on a nine year old kid. It's easy to randomly answer but you don't know what's gonna happen in the future. Everything can change depending on circumstance."
...
Standing up,
"You just got discharged from the hospital, Dad. You should rest early. Goodnight."
I spoke then walked to my room.
"Take your time, Ichika."
I halted my step and glanced back at him.
"Huh?"
"I'm sorry. I felt like I'm forcing to pass my responsibilities of symbol of peace to you. I'm already a horrible parent."
"It's fine! I understand. I know there's no Hero that competent enough to become that symbol aside from me. Most of them are a bunch of clowns wearing a hero getups."
"You really horrible, Ichika."
"I'm just telling the facts."
"No wonder they're really angry when they talk about you as Captain Falcon."
"Truth hurts, right?"
"What about Mirko? I learned that she's really close to you."
"She's the best! I raised that girl, you know."
I gave a thumbs up.
"Are you her father?"
All Might responded in surprise.
