This love and You

A cozy little room in the second floor of a bridge cottage. Favourable aroma of candle lights illuminates the surround, a warm golden atmosphere around.

A clear vase of white lilies and red roses, losing and loving. The sweet and delicate fragrance of roses conquering the strong scent of lilies.

Neva freshened up, posed on a vintage stool faces a victorian vanity mirror as she combs her hair. She finds her clear, fragile features reflecting on the looking glass. Her eyes bare, abyss of thoughts pulling her in deep, blinding the present.

"Angel come on, you need to sleep." Rhett lay on the soft bed. His head propped up on his left arm, he pats the bed gesturing her to lay with him. Eager to cuddle Neva.

He creases his brows, pouting as Neva fails to respond. She aimlessly runs the wooden comb through her hair, her mind elsewhere.

Climbing out the bed he caresses her shoulders, having her flinch faintly.

"Let's go sleep Angel." He repeats himself, feigning ignorance of her lost demeanour, he lightly kisses her cheek.

Neva places the comb on the surface of the vanity. Her hands on his she turns around to face him.

"Do you remember what we talked about in the morning?" She starts off.

"I'm not sure." He responds, the grim tone in her voice leading his heart to tighten.

She stays still, wandering through her heart, picking and throwing, carefully choosing words to speak.

"We should separate our paths." She gently voices her thoughts. Longingly searching his eyes.

Neva's form stiffens, his intense glare frightening her. The warmth in his orbs vanishing.

He stands up straight. "Separate paths? What do you mean?" He gazes away, having his pained expression unseen to her eyes.

"You know exactly what I mean." Neva arises from the stool. The tone of her voice firm.

"Go to sleep. We're done talking." He says refusing to look at the eyes reflecting a wish he can never fulfill. Predicting the consequences of an unwanted argument with a sickening subject.

"Rhett will you please look at me?" Neva aggrieved requests. She moves before him trying to meet his distant eyes, uneasy of his still and silent self.

"Don't you see? You'll only be in misery with me." Frustrated she argues, skillfully burying the agony caused by her own assumption.

"I don't care." His voice cracks. He avoids her eyes like a child being nagged at.

"So you do know, there's only a tragic end written with me?" She's twisting his words, causing his eyes to widen in shock and finally settle on her firm ones.

"No. I did not mean that." Anxious he caresses her face.

"I said we'll be fine Neva. I'll protect you. You saw I'm capable right?"

Neva harshly shoves his hands away, taking a step back. His reckless self jumping in the burning hell the night before, aiding a salt to her flaring wound.

"I saw you killing and almost being killed Rhett!" Painful tears gushes out her orbs.

"The world we live in is cruel and there is no way I would ever put you through the way I did!" She guessed she knew the danger his work could probably weigh.

She made peace with the fact that his profession will not harm their relationship. Even, given the hazard, that perhaps she might never see him again.

She cannot breathe with the fact death crawls upon him and the reason was her. Sure she believes in his abilities.

But he was just a human after all.

There's only so much he can take.

"I'm fine and alive. You have to believe me, I can protect us." He declares, wanting to put a cease on this topic.

"It's not about your potential Rhett. Think about how many they killed.. think about how many you had to kill." She clarifies, her voice barely discernible.

"So you hate me now, because I kill?" A knot forming in his heart, his own querie causes his heart strings to come apart.

"No of course not. I don't-I," A sob breaks out her lips, frustrated, hating the fact that the intention behind her words does not get to him.

"I just won't survive loosing you." She whimpers causing his eyes to soften up. She puts her arms around herself, clenching her flesh, seeming so weakened and fragile.

"You won't lose me. I promise you." Approaching closer he cups her face and wipes off her tears with his thumb.

Neva shakes her head, not giving into his assurance.

"Just do me a favour Rhett. Within the dawn take the boat and go far away." She says, connecting her orbs to his hurt ones.

"Is it that easy for you to give me up? Well I can't leave you and even you cannot force me away." His dominating tone makes it clear. He does not plan to give into her ultimatum.

"Why don't you get it! You'll be safe away from me." She moves back, her emotions overwhelming making her form tremble.

He chuckles bitterly. "Where will I go without you?"

"Anywhere, the world is big." Her red eyes bores into him.

"Exactly, the world is big. They can't find us. We'll leave to a further place tomorrow alright?"

"You'll be killed if you're around me!" She exclaims refusing to give up.

"If I leave what will you do?" Rhett suddenly inquires, wanting to know her ambitious plans.

"They want me right? If they come again I'll give myself up." Neva swallows harshly, a little scared imagening the consequences if she actually surrenders.

"You're being ridiculous." He scoffs angered at her absurd consideration.

"I'm not." She retorts back.

"You are getting on my nerves Neva." He warns her, nearing close.

With shuffling steps she walks back, halting near the bed. He tries to touch her hands, resulting her to avoid his reach.

"Get away from me!" Her tears drips refusing to spare her eyes. She pants and trembles. Chest heavily rising and falling.

"Neva-" he frowns at her sudden outburst.

"Spare me and leave!" She cuts him off.

"I cannot. I love you." He declares, his voice ruptured.

"Then I'll leave!" She moves away, aiming for the door.

He grasps her wrist, swiftly pushing her onto the bed. He hovers above her, caging her in between his arms.

"What are you doing? Let go of me!" She struggles to force away his large form. He clenches her hands on either side of the bed.

He lay over her, breathing in her neck.

"Enough Neva. You're hurting me."

Eyes red, silently she weeps, his crumbling voice weakening her.

She slowly gives into his warmth, leaning in.

Her arms eventually stops tussling, he seperates their clasped hands. Sneaking around her waist he causes her back to curve up. His hands on her back holding her hard to him, they lay close.

"I'm only scared of losing you. I don't wish to live with a broken heart." He murmers. His eyes shut tight.

She wraps her arms around him. Her lids closes, a thin see through liquid dropping.

"You won't be at peace with me." She utters softly.

"There's You and I. Above any tragedy or miracles. For me peace is us." He verses, causing her closed eyes to clinch. A whispery sob escaping her attached lips.

Neither of them could be tranquiled with the absence of their other piece. Hushed salty tears cascades down her orbs. She realises, he's all she need and her all he needs.

"Let's get married." She confesses, causing Rhett to gasp a little. He raises his head, his widened eyes meeting hers having a small smile to feather her lips.

"Let's get married. I only need this love and you." He phrases. A foolish saccharine smile radiating on his lips has her eyes lost in adoration.
