Love Rivals

Arriving at her apartment, Molly slowly removed her coat as she slipped her feet into her fuzzy slippers. Walking further into the room, she saw Abigail and Adeline in the kitchen preparing dinner.

"How's your day?" Adeline looked back, handing her a glass of fresh lemonade.

Molly sat on the couch. "It's fine. I just met an acquaintance."

"Who is it? Looks like you had a awful day."

"You wouldn't want to know."

"Nicholas right?"

Molly nodded. "How does he know the company I'm working for?"

"You think your boyfriend wouldn't tell him?" Abigail started washing the dishes. "He's eager to find Adele."

"Why can't he just bother you instead?"

"My company has tight security and Adele's working for me. You think I'd allow him to do that?"

"Ughh! I just hope he doesn't come back tomorrow."

"How is he?" Adeline sat down. "Is he doing well...?"

Molly's mouth dropped open. "Wh-Why do you care? It doesn't matter!"

"He's still my best friend."

"Do you still love him?"

Adeline shook her head. "Not anymore. I've gotten over him. I know that—"

"Why? Is it because someone caught your attention?" Molly smirked, sitting closer to Adeline. "Spill the beans! Who is it?"

"Uhhh... It-It's no one..."

"Why are your cheeks red then? Who's this guy that stole your heart?"

"I don't like anyone, silly!"

"Is it Erick?" Abigail wiped her hands. "You act different when you're around him."

Adeline stood up. "Wait, Abby it's not what you think. I just—"

"You've already told me what happened on the day he harassed you, but these past few months, I can see that you guys seem to be getting close to each other."

"He's not my type, Abby."

Abigail bursted into laughter. "You're already developing feelings for him right?"

"No! No! We just talk about work." Adeline grabbed her shoulders. "He's such a flirt! I won't fall for him."

"We'll see about that!"

"Abby! I really won't!"

"Look, I don't own him and anyone can like him. You can't control how you feel. If you guys end up together, then I'd be happy for you two. Don't let a man ruin our friendship, Adele."

"You're right..." Adeline hugged her. "Thank you, Abby."

"I'm looking forward to working with my love rival." Abigail giggled.

"Wait!" Molly sat down in between them. "Who is this Erick?"

"He's the manager of my company."

"Office love...hmmm...sounds interesting." Molly smirked, putting her hand under her chin.

"It's not what you think." Adeline flicked her forehead. "He's no more than a colleague."

"Didn't you say that he used to harass you?"

"He doesn't do that—"

"So you fell for him because he flirted with you?" Molly's eyes widened. "I never knew that flirting works on you, Adele!"

"Stupid!" Adeline pinched her cheeks. "He just started treating me differently!"

"Well hope that guy's better than your pathetic first love."

"Don't call him that."

"Why not?" Molly folded her arms. "Can't you just agree with me for once?"

"It's my fault for falling for the wrong person. You should put the blame me." Adeline looked away.

"Okay, okay! I'm the one at fault. Just don't think about him. I'm just tired of seeing you get hurt," Molly sighed.

"Erick will make her forget everything about him." Abigail patted her shoulder. "He's a seductive manager."

"You think so?"

"That's not true." Adeline pouted. "I don't even have feelings for him yet."

"I can see you enjoy each other's company, Adele. Don't deny it." Abigail smirked.

"If that's what you believe, then I can't do anything about it."

"Trust me, you'll be together in no time."

"How about you then?"

"Me? Well It doesn't matter." Abigail smiled. "I just want you guys to be happy. That's all that matters, Adele."
