Inevitable Feelings

Several days later...

(In Molly's apartment)

"What?! Why didn't you tell us earlier?" Abigail jumped out of her chair.

"Shhh!" Molly covered her mouth. "Let him finish."

"My mother...was killed by an anonymous man..." Jacob took a deep breath. "I saw my mother's dead body...in front of my room on the day I got back home from graduation..."

"How did he even get in?"

Jacob shrugged his shoulders. "He told me that he wouldn't kill her... I wasn't able to save my mother."

"What was the thing he wanted you to do? If it's money, then I can—"

"It's not that." Jacob clenched his fist. "He-He wanted me to k-kill Nicholas...and you know I'd never do anything to harm him..."

Abigail and Molly"s mouth dropped open. "What would he want from him?"

"He attempted to kill him several times, but failed to do so which is why he tried threatening me by using my mother as a bait."

"I'm sorry, Jacob." Molly gave him a hug. "I'm sure that your mother's proud of you. You chose to do what was right..."

"My father died in a car accident a year before I was born. My mother was the only family I had left."

"Do you plan on telling Nicholas this?"

Jacob shook his head. "I want justice for my mother... I need to find out who that man is!"

"Have you tried calling the number he used to call you?"

"I tried calling it several times, but no one answered... If only I was strong enough, I would've been able to see my mother!"

"Have you told Adele?"

"She was the first one to know."

"Really?" Molly folded her arms. "Why not me?"

Jacob scratched his head. "We-Well at that time, we weren't together yet."

"Did you like her before?"

"Wh-What? Of course not! I've only had you in my heart."

"Don't be such a mendacious brat!"

"I love you." Jacob kissed her cheek.

Molly flinched back. "What are you doing? Ab-Abigail's here!"

A moment later, before Jacob and Abigail could even react, they were interrupted by a knock on the door.

A woman's voice echoed through the halls. "Is anyone home?"

After hearing the familiar voice, Molly and Jacob fixed their eyes on the wooden door as Abigail ran towards the kitchen, grabbing a knife.

"Should we open it?" Abigail touched their shoulder. "I'm ready!"

"Stupid! We don't need a knife!" Molly flicked her forehead. "It might be someone we know."

"Did you guys invite anyone?" Jacob whispered.

Both Molly and Abigail shook their head. "Wait! What if we're being kidnapped?"

"By who?" Jacob giggled. "You guys are overreacting."

"Who'll open it?" Abigail stepped back.

"No one has the courage to, so I'll do it."

Taking a deep breath before opening the main door, Jacob decided to take a look at the eye hole of the door. As soon as he was able to take a glimpse of who the woman was, his eyes widened. He then unlocked the door as his legs started to shake.

When he opened it, he noticed that the woman brought two luggages with her. Without even asking who she was, he moved aside, inviting the woman in.

As Abigail, Molly and Jacob stared at the woman standing in front of the them in bewilderment, the woman sat down on the couch, waiting for them to calm down.

"What's with those faces?" The woman bursted into laughter. "Are you surprised that I'm here?"

"You... H-How did you get here?" Molly handed her a towel.

"Do you mind if I stay here for a few months?"

"The guest room's available... How did you get the address of my apartment?"

"Am I not allowed to stay? I'll just go find a hotel nearby then."

"Wait!" Abigail sat down beside her. "Something happened to you?

The woman looked away, trying to hold her tears back. "I just wanted to visit you guys."

"It's only been a few weeks since graduation."

"It's about the confession." Jacob patted her shoulder. "It's Nicholas isn't it?"
