The Package Arrives: Lilli

I stare out my window that looks down onto the street, watching the package carrier drop of different letters and mail at peoples house down the street.

The carrier arrives three houses down, Henry's house, and I stare at the package with the labs seal on it and I can feel the tears starting to swell up in my eyes, ready to cascade down my cheeks.

I run out of my rom almost tripping over my own feet and basically fall down the stairs. I run out the front door and down the street almost hitting the package carrier. "Sorry!" I yelled through muffled sobs.

My rough exterior, the wall I built around myself that was soposed to protect me from everything in the world was crumbling because this one person, my best friend is chosen for basically a death sentence.

I stop at the stone pathway to his house and watch him open the package. " Henry." I say, my voice cracking. I walk up to him and he looks up.

"Lilli, I'm sorry". Henry says. I hug him barring my face in his chest since I am almost a foot shorter than him. " It's ok, its not your fault" I say. Trying my best not to cry. I blink back my tears and pull away from him. " Hey, tonight our favorite show is on how about me make the best of your time left before you have to leave." I say. He smiles, showing his dimples through his tear stained cheeks. "Ok." He says. He putted his arm around me and we walk inside laughing and planing out the most awesome next 4 weeks.
