They were in the middle of dinner when the front door opened and Steph and Travis came in with Their bags in tow. “Shane, Tanner, Peggy.” Steph called.
“You can at least wait five more minutes, you spent a week with them.” Travis scolded.
She chuckled. “ I can’t help it.” She shrugged.
“I can never decide if I like that or hate that about you.”
“Me?” She faked shock.
“Or them. I can’t decide.” He smirked, shrugging.
She smiled brightly, turning to face him. “I’ve heard that a lot. And you can say that now because you’re going to be with them for weeks. Peggy, Tanner, Shane.” She called, turning away from him and the open door. The silence raising questions.
As he closed the door, “Maybe I should pay you every time I say it.”
She turned back and smiled at him. “I’ll get richer off looking at you.” She pat his left cheek as he chuckled. “It’s too quiet in here. Shane! Tanner! Peggy!”
“Maybe they’re asleep.” He started towards the kitchen.
