=“I don’t get it.”
“What don’t you get?” Peggy asked, sitting in the middle of her bed with her legs folded.
“Why would anyone go through all that just to talk to them?” Shane asked, his confusion clear in his voice.
“Because they’re popular.”
“Okay. But they’re them right? They talk to whoever they want to, they’re not that unapproachable right?”
Her forehead creased. “You’re confusing me. They’re popular and a lot of people admire them. Including Tanner, which I hate to admit.” She rolled her eyes. “You should have seen them at the auction-“
“Peggy.” He interrupted. “That’s fine and good but why would they be so afraid to go up to them? Why would they need to use you? If anyone would require that kind of sneaky methods, wouldn’t it be the devil?”
Huh. Her eyes widened as her mind tried to unravel that. Time passed while she processed it. Is he right? Is he wrong?
“Peggy?”
“Hmm? I’m thinking.”
“Still?” He chuckled.
