Assessment

Although they were both overwhelmed with Janet's personality, once Aldrin was guided by her to start the assessment for his Energy Quintessence, Renissa gave her approval for him to trust and follow Janet's instruction.

As he stepped foot on the circular plate enough to contain only one person, Janet pulled a rectangular device which was a control panel for the circular plate Aldrin stepped on.

She moved from the reception desk and began circling around him, touching his body as if she's checking if his muscles were tough before nodding continuously.

"Uhm... Does that mean something?"

"That? No... I'm just checking if you're built enough for Renissa. I guess you passed on that regard."

'I thought she already stopped.' Aldrin inwardly shook his head.

Aldrin tried profiling her based on what she showed and the conclusion he reached was... Janet appeared to possess an itchy bone to tease someone as if it was the only thing left in her life to stop it from becoming boring.

"Janet... Until when will you continue teasing me? Can you stop?" plead Renissa.

However, that only made the woman's smile grow wider.

"It's your last day. Let me have my fun. Besides, it will also be your last day to be with him. Don't you want to at least let loose before separation?"

With a not-so-hidden naughty connotation, Janet winked at Renissa which immediately made the icy-cold woman flustered.

"I told you. We're not in that kind of relationship. Aldrin is a friend."

"Mind you, it's not only those in a relationship who do it. Most of the time, it's also a way to relieve stress."

"I'm not stressed. And stop putting ideas in my head. Are you going to make me hate you?"

"I know you will not hate me. Anyway, too bad for you, huh? Uh, mister?"

After everything, Janet only remembered to ask for his name just now.

"Aldrin, Aldrin Fallwater... Also, can we continue, please?" To save Renissa from the trouble of dealing with the woman's teasing, he's trying to speed up this process of registration.

Before coming here, he was already informed by Renissa of the two steps for successful registration at the association.

The first was this Energy Quintessence Assessment. As it turned out, there were different classifications for Energy Quintessence and a Tester like Janet would grade them based on their shape and purity.

The circular plate was actually a scanner that could detect not only the Dimensional Energy filling his body but also the Energy Quintessence resting below his navel.

As for the second step, virtual combat testing to assess in which category he would be put.

There were three standard categories for every Energy Refiner. One could either be Attack, Defense or Support type. It was made simple for everyone to understand their role in case Energy Refiners would work together.

Nonetheless, regardless of the type, they're their own person. Just because one was categorized as Defense-type didn't mean he or she wouldn't have the qualification to be in a striker role.

The combat assessment was just to give the Energy Refiner the idea of which role could he do best.

And another reminder from Renissa, she told Aldrin to keep his Shadow Clone Concept a secret. According to her, although it wasn't impossible, it was unusual for a newly awakened Energy Refiner to instantly comprehend and become enlightened with one Concept.

If he showed it during the assessment, it was a certainty for him to draw attention. Not just from the Refiner's Association but from all the Corporations and government bodies that would become aware of it.

If he didn't mind that kind of attention, Renissa then told him to forget her reminder.

In the end, Aldrin was made aware that Renissa was thinking about his well-being. She even kept the secret of his Shadow Clone Concept because she knew what it would entail.

That added another line for him to be grateful towards the icy-cold but warm woman. For Aldrin, she's a great friend to have.

"Man, why are you so stiff? Don't tell me you're not even attracted to Renissa?" Reacting to Aldrin's answer to continue with the assessment, Janet frowned and asked him a question that would be hard to answer, initially.

Looking at Renissa still trying to recover from her previous state of being flustered, Aldrin deliberated whether to tell the truth or lie before their eyes.

If it's only being attracted, he would be lying if he said no. Even from just seeing her yesterday when she arrived at the VIP Room, Aldrin was awestruck at her grace and posture.

Even though he could remember how she was before, the changed Renissa had that kind of appeal that instantly drew his eyes towards her.

Nonetheless, it was only an attraction, not affection. They had camaraderie as someone who fought together in a life-and-death situation. True. But at the moment, that's the extent of their relationship. And he was sure that the woman was of the same mind.

"I am, actually. Who will not be attracted to her? But that's not the topic here, Miss Janet. You seem to be having fun at the expense of another's embarrassment. I can't say I can approve of that."

Upon hearing his answer Janet smirked and went over to his side again. With her fiery-red hair swaying at each step she made, Janet gracefully returned in front of Aldrin.

"Oh? You seem to have a backbone. For someone newly awakened. Wish granted! I'll stop teasing the girl." Janet declared before activating the control panel in her hand which immediately lit up followed by the activation of the circular plate beneath Aldrin.

"In exchange, you're going to do something for me." Janet continued before pushing another button at the control panel.

Before Aldrin's eyes, light extended from the circular plate, enclosing him inside. However, given that he knew that it was nothing dangerous, he calmly stood there. "I don't recall owing you something. I only expressed my opinion."

"Don't worry. Just pretend that it's for your friend here. Besides, it will not be hard. I'm a reasonable woman and a woman of my words. I'm teasing Renissa because I like her and her personality. As for you... that's still up for debate."

"Aldrin..." Watching that her friend took the burden off her shoulder, Renissa was naturally grateful towards Aldrin. However, in her mind, she's worried about him.

Even though she's working at the association as the Tester, she's a strong Energy Refiner that even if they dragged Gordon, the three of them wouldn't be able to beat her. Moreover, Renissa was aware of Janet's nickname that was infamous among every Energy Refiner of Lonewind City. Even Commander Yun of the City Hall Guards or the four Windblades that were direct subordinates of the mayor was kind of afraid of her.

The Tyrant Princess.

Although she's not as famous as Commander Yun in the Lonewind City, once she made a move, she would accomplish it without backing down.

"Alright, I'll do one thing for you. But can we finish this now?"

"Great! That's a man! Renissa, you landed a jackpot here. After you leave, don't lose contact with him, alright?" With a rather unexpected excitement, Janet ran over to Renissa and put her shoulders over her and loudly whispered all that.

Naturally, Aldrin heard it completely but as if she didn't say anything, Janet returned and fully activated the circular plate to start his assessment.

In less than 10 seconds, a holographic image depicting a human body sprang up from the control panel Janet was holding.

And he didn't need to be a genius to understand the diagram. It was Aldrin's body or specifically, his body's Energy Channels that were like branches of trees or roots underground channeling across his body.

And each vein of that Energy Channel all passed through the spherical Energy Quintessence.

"This... A spherical Energy Quintessence?!"

Contrary to Aldrin's expression, Janet, as well as Renissa, showed looks of surprise as they both stared at Aldrin's Energy Quintessence depicted in that holographic image.
