Jasmine drove straight to her Company. She still had not forgotten about the shopping with Waylen, but she just didn't want to ask him about it at that time. Everybody was just so busy, she felt surprised he had time to come watch the Shoot. She rode up the elevator and just as she took a turn, the sound of heels approaching made her turn.
"Madam!"
"Briana Mcclin." She leaned on the sparkling white wall behind her. "When would you stop shouting like an idiot?"
Briana pursed her lips as she came closer. "Sorry, Madam. A call just came for you, I didn't want to miss you."
"Seems like you're already missing me so much, you can't wait to yell my name at first sight."
Briana bowed in apology, muttering under her breath, "but, your name is not even Madam!"
Very well, her name wasn't.
But, that was what she was used to being called. Even by people thousands of years older than her. Why wouldn't she get used it?
It was like, a first name.
She pushed herself up and walked to her Office, saying over her shoulder, "put the call through."
---
"Madam Reign!" Jasmine pulled the phone away from her ear for a moment. "You removed me from the whole Season? What the Hell did I do to you? You just up and have my name cancelled, that wasn't in the Contract!" Jasmine's headache came full-time. She let her hair down, pinching the bridge of her nose as Laura continued to 'scold' her. "We had an agreement, but all of a sudden, you're turning this around. Do you have the slightest idea," heavy breathing came from the other end, "that you're literally breaching the Contract, Madam Reign?!"
Jasmine just continued pinching her nose without saying anything.
Laura was there, spewing rubbish like she was her Lawyer that drafted the Contract. She had signed a Collaboratory Contract with Dylan, on the day of their Picnic. A different Contract had been signed later, with Dylan and the Cast from his Company present on Face-Time. The Contract had been given out before the General Conference, on call, revised and signed. Now, she was sounding like she didn't know what was in the Content.
And what right did she have to call her by her name?
Jasmine swerved on her seat and sprang up. "Laura," the name rolled off her tongue coldly, in distaste. Laura clamped her lips in a thin line. "We had a Conference, we had an agreement, yes. 'We' had Contracts signed and-" a new message popped up on her Computer. She switched hands, using her right to hold her phone. She swiped the screen quickly. "-and it doesn't state that I have no right to - oh, what do we have here?" She clicked her tongue as she glued her eyes to the screen.
The E-mail clearly stated, she was being sued for breaching a well-drafted and agreed-on Contract.
She ended the call with no further ado as a laughter, full of mirth, escaped her throat.
It was indeed fun; someone having the gut to sue her, when she had not had a proper look at the signed Contract. And what kind of Lawyer, who would do things without considering and taking a proper look, did she even have?
Anyway, anyhow, she was getting 50,000,000 richer. She saved the message and shut down her Laptop, grabbing her Coat from the hanger as she walked out of her Office to the Car into the Parking Lot.
-----
Dylan was staring at the text that had just been forwarded to him by Jasmine, an amused smile on his lips. There wasn't much he could do about it, though, even if Laura Lorins was from his Company. They had signed the Contract individually and this one, certainly, was not on him. He just had his Manager call Laura immediately.
Just for perfunctory reasons.
"Mr. Colter," Laura spoke up the instant she answered, "have you taken a look at the Internet? The news has gone goddamn viral, everyone thinks I'm in the wrong here. You seriously expect me to sit back and watch someone crushing me? My fellow Woman? A girl I'm older than? C'mon, Mr. Colter!"
Jain Colter breathed in deeply. "Laura Lorins, she breached the Contract in no kind of way…"
"The Hell she didn't!" She spat him off. "She's been moving around with Danielle the whole time like I'm invisible and boom! I'm cut off the next minute! It's that thing I need to handle next!"
"That doesn't mean she went against - you're probably not even getting, I'll have to go."
Laura stared at her blank screen. He was cutting her off, too?
It was as if, she was turning invisible by the minute. She tossed the phone to a side and bounced down on her Car couch.
"Let's move."
-----
Jasmine's phone was beeping inconsistently with lots of notifications and she didn't need to check to know what it was. The information, about someone sueing her, was something wild.
Jasmine Reign. She was just not somebody. She was seen as the Empress of the Business Empire. Who would dare sue her?
Obviously someone as crazy as Laura Lorins.
Jasmine was still looking at her Television with a wide smile on her perfectly carved lips. Gemma had been texting her non-stop, since she left the Company, but she didn't have time for nerves.
"Ma'am, it states you have the ultimate power to take decisions, as far as it doesn't affect the people involved. Negatively. And Dylan Smith has nothing against it. If he does, a Compensation is attached, on the demanding side."
Jasmine nodded at her Lawyer, Jacqueline Jefferson, and turned away. "I'm not showing up at any Court. You'll bring the Judge to some Location, Lorins will be dead if I set eyes on her there… Infact, I'll be so busy from now, I want the Hearing ASAP, but I won't be there... When 'is' the Hearing?"
"Wednesday." Jacqueline replied without hesitation.
"That's 5 days away," Jasmine tapped her wine glass repeatedly, "too far. Make it Monday. Are we done here?"
"Yes, we," she packed up her files and got to her feet, "are."
"Just send me the Date, I'll give 30. Nothing more, not less."
"30 minutes, got it. I will get…"
"Just get out of my House, Jacqueline."
With pursed lips, she nodded and left, saying nothing.
Jasmine clicked her tongue. Someone else was getting in her trap, out of their own volition.
