First Day

"Yah! Are you listening to me, Injae? you need to wake up now!" I could feel someone's hand shaking my body.

"5 minutes." I mumbled

"No! Today is our first day in junior high school. You must wake up, take a shower, get dressed and eat breakfast!"

She replied and this woman who was waking me up was named Jung Haneul or if elaborating in simple terms, she's the girl I saved when I was 3 years old. And now I'm 13 (Korean age) years old.

"Alright, Alright! Stop shouting. I will get up now!" I got up and yawned. I waved my hand slightly to tell Haneul to leave the room. To which she left and said nothing more.

"System"

The system responded in an indifferent tone.

"...." I rolled my eyes.

• So what do you want? •

"Sigh, I want to accept the quest." I said while I was brushing my teeth.

1) First day at school? Sound cool but you need to think about first impression that you going to make!

"Only one?" I asked.

"Sound relatable. Anyway, I should hurry up or my 2nd mom (Haneul) will shouting at me again."

- a few minutes later -

"I thought you slept again after I left your room." She crossed her arms and stared at me.

"Relax, I won't doing that." I rolled my eyes and walk into the kitchen.

"Do you think I was a kid like 10 years ago? I know you well now." Haneul followed me into the kitchen too.

"Oh yeah, it seems like I'm dreaming about what happened 10 years ago." I said while munching on bread with blueberry jam on top. Which is my favorite.

"When you saved me from drowning? Again?" Haneul looked surprised and yes, It wasn't the first time I had dreamed of such events.

I wonder if these dream is meant to tell me anything...

"Yeah but I guess there's nothing to worry about since it's just a dream." I drink mineral water to rinse my mouth after finish my breakfast.

"Maybe. And now that you finished your breakfast. We should hurry up. Oh and goodbye, auntie." Haneul smiled and said goodbye to my mother.

"See you later, mom." I said briefly. My mother smiled and nodded at the two of us before continuing with her work. She seems to be very busy lately. This could be seen from the fact that she simply nodded.

"Sigh, what should I do? What if other people don't like me?" Haneul sighed. She looked down at her shoes and bit her lip slightly. I sat down next to her in the back seat.

"Why are you worried? Everyone will definitely like you. You're good-natured and cute too. Even if you can't find friends, you still have me." I yawn again.

"Is that so? Thank you. I feel a little better now." She smiled but when she turned to see my face, she was shocked. "Why are you dressed like that? Before walking out, you still looked like your usual self. Where did you get those glasses from?" She asked.

"It's my screening method. If anyone talks to me or treats me well today, the next day I revealed myself. I will be good friend to them. As for the others... I'll ignore them."

"Wow that's a good plan, I get it. Can I treat you normally?" Haneul asked.

"Of course, no problem. It didn't interfere with my plan" I replied.

"Good, I don't want to ignore you all day." Haneul nodded. When we finished talking, the car was parked in front of the school.

The driver opened the door for me and Haneul got into the car. All eyes were staring at us. If I had to guess, it was because of the luxury car in front of them and maybe Haneul.

I don't want to show off but Haneul is a beauty. As a child, she was often teased for her looks and appearance and I'm the only friend she have. That might be the reason for the question she asked me but now she's not the same girl, right? So no problem, I guess.

"Ouch! what the hell. Watch where you're going!" Some random dude said. Oh, it looks like I've stepped on his feet.

"Oh, sorry." I shrugged and continued walking indifferently.

"..." He mumbled something under his breath and stared at my back.

• That's what I'm talking about. Look like you're his enemy now. Suit yourself, loser. •

'Shut up. You're annoying.'

• Rude! •

'This is what you always say to me. Deal with it.'

'Star (System's nickname) you mad?'

'See you later then.' I chuckles.

- a few minutes later -

"Alright, class. Be quiet. Let's introduce yourself first!" The homeroom teacher's voice spoke up. I sat in the back row by the window, slowly rising my head from my sleep.

I looked towards Haneul sitting in the middle of the room. She seems to be doing well and have some friends already while I had no one to talk to.

"Hi! I'm Jung Haneul. Nice to meet you~ If you need some help with any class. You can ask me!" Everyone applauded her and she sat down with a smile on her face.

Everyone introduced themselves until it came to my turn. The whole room was shrouded in silence. No signs of excitement. No one cares about me introducing myself. Which is I didn't care too so I just say "I'm Park Injae."

Only Haneul and other female student clapped. I wonder who she is?

I sat down with a blank face. The homeroom teacher didn't seem very happy. She smiled nervously because her, the other teachers and the administrators all knew who I was. She seemed to want to say something but I shook my head a little so she told the next student to introduce herself and that student is the same girl who clapped for me.

"My name is Kim Jangmi. Nice to meet you." She nodded slightly before sitting down. Everyone applauded her politely.

"..." I silently remember her name in my head without saying anything.

- Lunch time -

No one seems to really want to interact with me and Haneul got dragged by her new friends so I put the stuff back in my backpack but then there's a girl walked up to me. I look up at her.

Hmm Kim Jangmi? What do she want?

"Do you know the way to the cafeteria? I can take you there." She stared at me and crossed her arms.

"No." I shook my head.

"Then follow me." She walked over before beckoning me. I wonder why she interacts with me or does she know who I am?

I quietly followed her. On the way, we didn't talk a single word. And finally I gave in to my doubts.

"Why do you talk and be nice to me?" After hearing what I said. She turned to look at me and stop walking.

"Because you don't look as annoying as everyone else. I like peace more than chaos." She replied in a serious tone that make me laugh.

"How can you be sure I'm not annoying and that being friends with me will be peaceful?" I asked her.

"Is there anything wrong with that? Now you're annoying." She rolled her eyes before turn her back to me and walking forward.

"Hey! wait up. I will try to be quiet then." I hold my laughter.

"..." She just nodded. A comfortable silence came as we walked together.

- At home, after school -

'Hey, star. Ready to talk?' I asked system.

'Come on. Don't be tsundere and talk to me. I still need those reward and check some new quest.'

• Shut up. You're annoying. •
