I wasn't ready for this

This is a fantasy story about Nive and Cade. They have been best friends since Secondary school. One day, when they arrive at Nives house, the front door has collapsed. When Cade takes a look at the house, something happens to Nive. From there they get stuck in the whole thing that is happening. Along the way, they have to find out what the secret world of Osmium is, who the Speaker is, and what Nives dad has to do with this. The more time they spend with each other, the more their relationship evolves. The story isn't finished yet, but I am trying to find time to keep writing :)

Chapter 2: Nive?

How's your father, by the way?" Cade asked after five minutes of tense silence. "The other day you told me that he was very restless and busy. Is everything okay with his work and stuff? Nive looked a little dejectedly at the ground. She never liked to talk about her father's work. They barely made ends meet at home. She lived in a terraced house, just like Cade's family, but they couldn't afford it. Her father worked in a museum about ancient objects and countries and so on, but there were never many visitors. "Well okay, I guess," Nive answered. When they reached the street corner, Nive asked, "Shall we work on that biology project at my house?" We should have that done by tomorrow. My father is home, but he doesn't mind.' They had to finish biology. They both knew how mad Mrs. Fox would get if you didn't finish it. "Yes, that's good," Cade said. "I can't do it at my house because my mom works from home. She doesn't like other people around the house." As always, Nive felt an empty feeling rise in her body. It always made her jealous when people talked about their mother. She had never known her mother. Her mother had left her father for another when she was a baby and left her with her father. She remembered nothing about her mother.

When the two arrived at Nive's house, Nive's head was elsewhere. She had difficulty moving, suddenly developed a severe headache, and had the taste of blood in her mouth. She had a strange feeling inside. Cade was wide awake, by the way. The front door of the house where Nive and her father lived was ajar and full of scratches, scrapes, and dents. It looked like the front door had been attacked by an animal. "Uhhh Nive... Did you guys get a new dog that you didn't tell me about?" Cade asked, gently pushing the door open wider. Nive suddenly stopped. She got cramps all over and felt everything stiffen. She could barely speak. She could only utter one word. "Cade..." and it sounded like a helpless battle cry. It felt like someone was crushing her. She couldn't utter a word now. But Cade no longer heard Nive's muffled war cry. He was too focused on what had happened to their front door and peered into the foyer. There he saw that it was complete havoc inside. "Nive, do you know what happened?" Cade asked. No answer. "I must have been too shocked by the door," he muttered to himself. Cade walked in and saw that it was even worse than he thought. Everything was broken and thrown overboard. There was dust and debris everywhere. It looked like someone had broken into their house with a sledgehammer. "Nive!" he called again. Again no answer. Cade turned and walked past all the fragments of a wall that wasn't so whole back to the front door. "Hey, Nive! Can you hear me?" Nive heard him, but couldn't respond. Her vision was blurry and it felt like she had lost control of her body. She was scared. Very scared. Cade walked out the door and saw Nive standing there. She stood limp with her arms at her sides, shaking violently. "Nive!" Cade screamed and ran to her. "Nive, act normal!" Cade yelled, snapping his fingers into Nive's face. Nive tried to move and talk, but couldn't. All that came out of her mouth was gurgling noises. could hardly breathe. Cade shook her, but she wouldn't wake up. "Hey Nive, I don't like this! Stop this!" Cade screamed so loud the whole street could probably hear. Nive could barely see Cade now. Her image began to turn black. Cade tried to shake her awake one more time when he looked her straight in the eye. He started because Nive's eyes started to go black. He took a step back. It seemed as if her eyes were filling with some kind of black liquid. A big tear rolled down her cheek. "Nive! Whatever you're doing, you need to stop this now!" Nive was more than happy to do this, but her screen was now completely black and she couldn't see anything. She couldn't breathe at all now. Nive felt her body go limp and was just able to take one last breath. "Cade... Help me," she muttered between the gurgles. And then she collapsed. Cade ran over and caught her just in time. He looked at her and saw blood dripping from her mouth. Another lone tear rolled down her cheek. "I got your Nive," he said softly in her ear. He pushed a lock of hair that Nive's ponytail had let loose from her face. "I have got you."
