2 I Have A System

"What the actual-"

Kai ran in circles in a frenzy and finally picked up Lenny's corpse, shaking it in the air as he questioned him.

"Lenny, you bastard, fix this! What the hell did you do?!"

Of course, dead men tell no tales, nor do they stabilize necromantic creations. It was a fruitless endeavour on Kai's part. He slowly dropped the body and walked around the study. There were numerous books and sigils spread around the room.

He tried to read the books and find some notes as to how to fix himself, but he understood none of it. It was unbelievable what had happened to him. The language written in the books was a foreign one he had never seen or likely heard before, the sigils didn't mean anything to him, either.

"I should at least find someone else to fix me," Kai muttered to himself as he left Lenny's building, and the sight he saw stunned him to the extreme as the purple lights in his eyes flickered in awe.

"Where the fuck am I?!"

He felt that he was inside a cave system but the ceiling was too high in the air for this to be a place underground. There were luminescent rocks spread in the cave as far as he could see, which provided some light. But it was more similar to a brand-new world rather than a cave system. He saw scaly humanoid creatures, giant insects and sometimes other undead throughout his trek.

After 8 hours of walking while hiding from various threats in this dungeon, Kai finally saw the first sign of civilization here. Oddly enough, it was an underground city.

"God damn it, I'm not dying in this two-bit fantasy land!" Kai yelled in frustration as he started running toward the gates of the city and started yelling for help from the two guards at the doors.

"Hey guys, I need some help!"

As soon as Kai was in their vision, the guards raised their crossbows and shot without hesitation as one of the bolts hit him in the head, knocking him on the ground.

"Good shot, man!" one of the guards yelled in excitement.

"Nah, it's just a mindless undead. It's nothing," the other guard said as he humbly bragged.

Even though Kai was just a skeleton and nigh-invulnerable against bolts like those, the unexpected force of it was still enough to knock him down. As a former human, he started hyperventilating with a lack of lungs.

"What the hell is happening here?!" he mumbled to himself in disbelief but dared not to get up so soon. The bolt didn't damage him, but it still hurt. He was also afraid of what would happen if they took him seriously. What if he was killed by them? He waited for another half an hour.

*3:13:50*

"God, will I turn into ashes like this? Someone save me!" he prayed.

"Wait a second," Kai almost slapped himself in the skull. He opened his Character and Skills pages. His Character page didn't have much on it, but he still checked it out. He should have something he can do! He tried to think of the words "Character Page" to send the mental command.

"Huh. But how do I know the standard stats for other creatures?" Kai thought to himself. "How about my Skills page?"

Skills

Spell Absorption Level 1: Allows for the absorption of level 1 spells and store them.

Hunger Level 1: Can eat inorganic materials and integrate them.

Summon Undead Level 1: Summons 1 zombie using a corpse.

Appraise Level 1: Appraisal of lower-tier items and creatures.

"All right," Kai said and halted momentarily before looking up at one of the guards to see if they are still there.

"God damn it. They are. My stats look like a child could beat me, I wish I could appraise the idiot who shot me."

*To appraise something, give the command "Appraise" within 10 metres of the item/creature desired*

"Who are you? Help me out!" Kai begged. It was that voice again.

There was only silence. This system of his seemed pretty flaky. What if he just got up and ran? Would they chase and try to find him? But he had to get into the city and find someone to help in 3 hours, otherwise, he'd be ashes. Kai then saw a dead crow not so far from himself.

"System, how do I summon undead?"

*To summon an undead, give the command "Summon Undead" within 5 metres of the dead creature*

"Summon Undead!" Kai yelled in his mind and soon after, the crow was animate and started flying around albeit not having a lower jaw.

"Great, go and bother those guards!" Kai issued another mental command.

The bird quickly rushed at the guards, motivated to the extreme to gouge their eyes out. The guards were taken aback by the rapid appearance of an undead bird, but not like it was an actual threat. They soon dispatched it.

"Hey, what happened to the skeleton that you shot just now?" one of the guards asked.

"Someone must have stolen it," the other guard mocked him, laughing.

Kai rushed behind a group of stalagmites and hid. With his lithe figure, it was rather easy, but it was also this figure that had him shot on sight. He needed some sort of disguise if he wanted to survive or get into the city. It was obvious they thought he was one of those mindless undead roaming around.

"How the hell do I go inside?"

*3:05:22*

Kai suddenly heard the cry of a young woman.

"Get away from me! Get away!"

Kai was inadvertently drawn to the source of the noise. The commotion wasn't too far from the gate, but enough to be out of the earshot of the guards still. The voice of the woman became louder, and truth be told, more annoying as he got closer. Even though some of what she was yelling about was unintelligible, he could hear the sheer arrogance still.

"Do you even know who I am?" a woman in her early 20s asked in arrogance, but there was still a hint of fear in her eyes. "I am the daughter of the City Lord, how dare you rob my cart and kill my followers?!"

"For someone in her circumstance, she sure is bold," Kai sighed.

*3:04:12*

"I'm gonna die in three hours, what's really the point of rushing my death?" Kai mumbled to himself as he turned his back to silently leave the woman to the mercy of the robbers.

Right before he left, however, one of the thugs spoke up in response with an ugly laugh, "We know who you are, your majesty. But you see, I never had royalty in my bed before, what do you say?!"

The man guffawed at the hapless nobility in front of himself as she clearly felt goosebumps all over her body, being unable to retort even.

"Well, that's not nice," Kai said to himself as he left. "But I'm not dying for someone I don't even know!"

A thug with scaly skin akin to lizardmen took the initiative to grab her and lick her face with his long and slimy tongue as he laughed with a sleazy look on his face, "We'll have so much fun with you!"

"All right, guys, maybe it's time to stop now!" Kai suddenly found himself interfering as he revealed himself. He felt the adrenaline pumping through his non-existent veins and mumbled to himself, "I was gonna die soon anyway, at least I go a hero."

"It is a necromancer, he sent his minion first! Find him!" the thug that spoke up first yelled to the others. "We heard his voice, he must be close by!" Their boss seemed to have a gold ring on his nose and his face resembled an ox more than a human.

"You are very smart, boss!" a thug chimed in as five of them spread out to search around while two stayed with the boss.

"This skeleton looks a bit bulkier than the regular ones you see, be careful," the boss yelled again and grabbed hold of the nobility.

At this point, however, she yelled with all her might, "Necromancer, I'll make you rich if you save me!"

Kai's eyes glowed with hope as he slowly walked toward the boss non-threateningly and uttered the word "Appraise".

*A human has been appraised*
