Chapter 2: The Armored Men

When the orc tried to punch me, time seems to have slowed down.

Despite how arrogant he is, his fist was now moving at the pace of a snail. It was quite slow, so I simply moved to the side to dodge it.

When I did, things promptly turned back to normal. And the orc stumbled in his feet as he punched not me, but air.

「Wh-What? Where'd that animal go?」

「Over here.」

I raised my hand to get his attention. His face was distorted in surprise as he looked at me and from the place I stood earlier.

「Ha—haha, you were lucky. But not anymore!」

I think I'm still lucky.

When he tried to punch me again, the same phenomenon repeated. I was so fast everything seems like their time was stopped.

Floating leaves at the distance, a squirrel about to eat an acorn and an acorn floating below the branch it was sitting on, I assume it fell off from its grasp.

I walked over to it once it descended enough for me to reach and grabbed it. I then put it inside the open mouth of the screeching orc.

Hmm. I'm wearing nothing, I'm fully naked with my butt exposed.

Leaving that aside for now, I left the orc and walked over to the cliff and thought, what if I jump?

I was so high up, likely forty feet up. But seeing how fast I am, maybe I can run on water or even air?

After some experimentations by myself while time was still slowed, I jumped off the cliff confidently and reached for the skies.

I was falling slowly just as I expected.

I rapidly paddled my feet as if mixing the actions of swimming and running together and I started to move in the air.

It took ages but I managed to run on air and arrive to the battlefield. Even at this moment these armored individuals and orcs were at a relentless onslaught.

Passing by flying arrows, I had the urge to grab them so I did just that. It didn't take much braincells for me to decide to stick the arrow tips up at the orc team's asses.

There was one of the armored guys in danger of being cleaved in half so I grabbed his body and transported him to an angle of his foe's blind spot.

Being super fast is fun. Now I want things to go back to normal.

At my thought, everyone's momentum began to increase and the standard speed at which I'm used to came back.

I'm sure the orc on a horse choked on the acorn.

The orcs in this place suddenly oinked and lost their composure. It must be due to the arrows I used to plug their buttholes. I kind of regret doing that.

Their adversaries didn't ignore this opportunity and struck down their opponents. All the orcs were killed in an instant.

Everything became quiet aside from their spontaneous gasps of breath. They were really tired from that fight, huh?

Finally, one of the knight-like noticed my presence and stumbled backwards.

「Wh-Where did you come from?!」

「Oh no! My leg hurts!」

「Who are you fooling?! And why are you naked?!」

Shoot, I should've made a better excuse.

The armored guys surrounded me immediately and trapped me in the center by pointing their blades.

They probably won't believe me if I said I took care of those orcs for them. And it's always cool to act like a weak character who's actually super strong, thus I raised both my hands to surrender.

「I'm Tsuyoshi Tenkōsei, I'm a slave that escaped from the terrible clutches of the orcs you just fought...」

I put on a facade by forcing myself to cry a little. The knights faltered and their weapons flinched a little which was a sign my trick worked.

「Sir Vanterey, it doesn't seem like he's lying.」

「...Poor thing. It must've been rough.」

Sir Vanterey, one of the knights ordered all of them to sheath their blades. I couldn't tell them apart since all of them were dressed in the exact same armor.

I tried very hard to suppress a laugh when one of them sided with me on the lie I made on the spot.

「Come now, you can rest with us on the wagon.」

Apart from the grandiose carriage in gold and silver, there were apparently three more wagons used to carry goods and soldiers.

They took me in and gave me some spare clothes. The size was slightly too big for me but it was more comfortable than running around naked.

Since the horses were killed in their skirmish with the orcs, we were basically stuck here for the time being.

According to them, we might have to send a person through horseback to the nearest town and wait for them to come back with the horses. The people here were too prideful to pull the carriages themselves, and even if they could, most of them were too injured to attempt it so we're stuck here in the mercy of nature.

I was currently inside the wagon sitting with a few injured soldiers who had their armor removed. Their wounds were patched up with makeshift bandages by their comrades.

Now that I have time, I uttered "Status" just like any typical isekai main character and as expected, my status appeared. That wasn't really necessary though, I just had to look at myself for a while and think about assessing myself to view it.

Here we go.

Judging from the array of my skills, it wouldn't be a far stretch to assume I might be the strongest.

「Hey kid, you alright?」

Ah, I've been spacing out for too long that it looked like I was delving into deep thought.

「Yeah, I am. I bet you're not doing good?」

「Well yeah, I just lost an arm. It's even a miracle I'm still alive with this injury.」

He tried to touch his injury and ended up with a yelp.

「Well that stings.」

The guy who lost an arm was someone in his early twenties. He's pretty young, he's still older than me though who's mentally younger than that mentioned age.

「How'd you lose it?」

「I saved my best friend by pushing him aside from an enemy attack that came from his blindspot. It was worth it though, he's alive.」

「Does this mean you're quitting this job?」

It's just my assumption since he's a soldier, but from what I know, an injury would mean they're no longer qualified to serve in the military.

「Sadly, yeah. I have a family to feed, I guess I'll take over my dad's farm once I'm back.」

This is it, I got an idea.

「You won't need to.」

I've decided. This random guy who's life was just about to go downhill will be a guinea pig of my newfound powers.
