Mahoraga Town

Mahoraga Town is a town located in the northeastern end of the Rising Sun Country (Japan country of this World).

It is surrounded by five other Farming Villages, two of them are the villages I see near the forest that I have just coming out from.

There are also two Mountain Villages in the south, and one Fishing Village in the north.

The monsters living around this area are mostly small fries, making it perfect for beginner character like me.

Oh, after checking on my System window, it turns out that my base power level has increased from 33 to 34.

The civilization level here is like in a modern world, so I think if there is an anime plot going here, it would be the one with modern day or urban setting.

Talking about anime plot, I don't see any characters that resemble any protagonist or heroines I know after I spent the whole afternoon roaming around the Town while gathering information.

The System advices me to register my identification in an Adventurer Guild located in the center of the Town.

Huh!? There is also an Adventurer Guild here and they also serve as freelance worker and guards of the town aside from the military?

The system then tells me that this town is, like just I have guessed, a mix of some modern day and urban setting animes and MMORPG games like Ragnarok Online.

Also, aside from registering my identities there for a small fee, I can also sell the monster corpses I stored in my Inventory in the Guild Shop.

Since I don't have a single piece of money in my body, I decide to visit the Adventurer Guild and sell all the monster corpses I have gathered there. 

Turned out the currency that they used in this world is Zenny.

Coincidentally, zenny is also the currency that is being used in both Megaman Battle Network series and MMORPG Ragnarok Online.

One zenny in this World has equal purchasing power to one US dollar in my home world.

And all the monster corpses I sold give me enough money to rent in a good Inn or Apartment for one or two month.

After getting the money, I used a small sum of them to pay for my registration in the Guild and get me a legal identity.

I register using my real name in the former world, Sagradhi Ranata, and I write my age to be 17.

Why would I write my age to be 17?

Because in my knowledge, most modern day and urban setting animes revolve around high school lives, right?

And High School ages is just around 16-18.

So I register with that age number and began to prepare a plan in my mind to search for a High School, preferably the ones that have a Protagonist and the Heroines in there.

Once I found a place like that, I plan to enroll as a second year transfer student there while hunting and farming any protagonist and heroines I can found there.

The sun has already begun to set the moment I finished with my identity registration in the Adventurer Guild.

As I set my foot outside the Guild and prepare to search for my lodging in this night....

*Booommmmm!!!!!*

Suddenly, I heard the sound of explosion.

The sound is quite loud and it immediately attracts my attention.

I quickly look at the direction from where the sound of explosion coming.

It's the southwestern part of the Mahoraga Town.

There I see clouds of smoke arise to the sky from that direction.

And looking up at the sky, I see something like a dragon flying in low altitude, roughly only 10 meters above ground.

"I smell a plot incoming!!!!"

Thinking like that, I hurriedly run to that direction, utilizing the full speed of my 34 power level that is almost as fast as a supersonic jet.

Author's Note:

Mahoraga is a Mystical Race in Hindu & Buddhist Mythology. 

They're depicted as Half Human and Half Snake and are often associated with water bodies such as lakes and rivers. 

Most of the culture pictures them as a humanoid being with snake body and tail from the waist below. 

But there are also some culture that depicts them as humanoid beings with a human body and a snake head.

Which one do you think is the true depiction?

Personally, I prefer the former than the latter :)

By the way, at first I want to use Rupis or Rupees from the Legend of Zelda series as the currencies of this World.

But on the second thought, the most games I played (Ragnarok, Megaman and Monster Hunter) are using Zenny as their currency.

Other games, especially RPG from the West usually have the classic gold, silver and copper coins as their currency, or they just straight out call it Gold instead.

So, in the end, I decided to use Zenny as the currency of this World.
