Chapter Ten - I need to improve my luck!

Today, Harry was rightfully recognized as the Gryffindor seeker, and little Draco, not holding back his envy, went over to tease him.

As they agreed to duel, I remembered that they would soon meet Hagrid's sweet dog, I was curious if the dog would look the same as in the movies or even scarier.

Because I was partially around when Draco was teasing, I also received a look of contempt and mockery. Little Draco was very young and immature.

Once he was gone, I joined the conversation while Hermione lectured them about the rules they would break.

After a series of reproaches, she got up and left in a huff, for my part, I just told them good luck and to be careful, which caused them a bit of joy as they didn't get any more reproaches.

Even though I'm so curious to see the three-headed dog, I don't want to risk being eaten, they won't be hurt because they are important characters, but me? I'm just a character that shouldn't exist.

As night fell I prepared to go to sleep, then I was shaken and cruelly pulled from my sweet sleep by a little witch with tousled hair.

- "Elizabeth wake up, come on we must stop the boys, they will surely try to go to their ridiculous duel soon."

- "Hermione! Go to sleep, are you planning on using your body as a wall to keep them out? Let them go, it will be their points they deduct."

- "But we've worked so hard to earn points, and they just go and ruin it, how can we stand it? Come on, help me stop them."

So I was dragged away from my sweet bed by Hermione, a while after waiting in the common room, we heard the boys come downstairs.

- "Aghh, you've come to stop us too, Elizabeth?"

- "Not exactly, Ron, you could say I'm a victim of your decisions."

As I predicted we couldn't stop them and as Hermione was dragging me we stood outside the common room, knowing what awaited us I tried to calm down, as Hermione reneged.

Arriving in the hall and waiting for a long time, as planned Draco didn't arrive instead it was Mrs. Norris and Filch arrived, so we ran quickly, we went through many corridors and arrived at a closed-door Hermione opened the door with a spell and we entered immediately. Instinctively I turned and saw a large silhouette watching us, it still showed no hostility, and for my part, I moved as little as possible, the boys sighed once Filch was gone, and Hermione cast a spell to see, there the big, furry, drooling Fluffy heads were illuminated, with their attention on us, and the recent illumination took a few seconds to adjust.

- "Guys, open the door immediately, don't shout, or you'll unsettle him, or you'd better not turn around, or he'll attack us."

Unfortunately, whenever you hear a warning you are likely to ignore it and do the opposite, they turned around quizzically and the movement made the dog growl at us, the boys shouted, awkwardly opened the door and with great effort, we closed it. They argued a bit, about the dog, but due to all the hustle and bustle of the day we quickly left and with weak legs we ran back to the common room, luckily the fat lady was already in her painting, and we went to bed.

Over the next few days, they discussed the dog and how suspicious it was that it was there, and due to Hermione's good observation of the trap door, it was guarding they began to link the vault we visited with Hagrid and the strange object that had gone missing at Gringotts.

Like good curious children, they spent their time as detectives, investigating and even visiting Hagrid and the poor chap spilled his guts about Fluffy and the good Nicolas Flamel.

Meanwhile, I spent my time in the library or in the newfound wizarding room where I practiced basic spells and, if I had energy left, a few more advanced spells.

The days grew colder, and before I knew it Halloween arrived, everything was filled with a cheerful atmosphere and I remembered that soon it would be the troll problem. That day in spell class the problem with Ron and Hermione happened, and she left crying, I didn't want to ruin the plot, but it was inevitable not to go to comfort her if I wanted to be a good friend, as she was one of the few people who spoke to me naturally knowing my background.

But considering how necessary it was for Harry's future I couldn't go right away, so for a while, I pretended I didn't know about the problem with Ron and went to dinner with everyone there, I asked the girls and found out where she was, and I also made sure Harry and Ron heard that Hermione was sick, so when Quirrell came in and fainted, I urged them to go and look for her, they were quite hesitant, so I went ahead and took advantage of the chaos in the big dining room and ran.

- "Hermione, we have to leave immediately, it's dangerous to stay here."

- "Why? I'll be leaving in a while."

- "There's a troll nearby, hurry."

Hermione, quite confused and with puffy eyes didn't seem to understand, so I pulled her, unfortunately, it was late, and the troll was already at the door.

As she screamed, I cursed in my mind, certainly a troll in front of a couple of 11-year-old girls was too big and imposing, we still had to run, I tried to drag her away from the Troll's attack range, but dragging her was a difficult task considering she was better fed than me and numb enough to let it move, she just stood there stunned, I somehow managed to throw her to avoid being hit, I felt something hit my back and something was slipping out, but this was no time for distractions or the troll would tear us apart with a single swing of its club, so we somehow avoided its blows, my back hurt a lot and I didn't know if Harry would come or if he would go for a professor, and they would only find my pieces and Hermione in a ball.

- "Hey, silly over here!"

I never thought I would celebrate little Ron's voice, luckily they came, my energy was down, and Harry held on to the troll's club but being so small the troll could move and swing him, luckily Ron cast the levitation spell correctly, and he was knocked.

My back hurt horribly, and I dropped to the floor, I was exhausted, scared, and I was afraid I was bleeding, I looked at the floor and luckily there was no trace of blood, so it was probably water from the broken pipes, I wasn't sure as I couldn't see my back, Hermione was very scared and hugged me while crying, almost immediately the first one to arrive was Snape looking at us surprised, I must say it was quite strange to see a change in his always stiff face, behind him came the rest of the teachers. Professor McGonagall scolded us, deducting points from Hermione for her lie and giving points to the rest of us, when she asked if anyone was hurt, I decided to keep quiet, originally no one was hurt in this part of the story and surely Hermione would feel terrible and guilty, so I repressed the pain and also denied like the rest, so we were sent to the room, I felt that someone saw me, but I felt so bad that I just walked a bit and told them to go ahead as I had to go to the bathroom.

Once in the bathroom, I took off my robe to see my back in a mirror, 3 min and indeed there was a cut on it due to the color of the robe it was impossible to see the blood, luckily I had another robe in my suitcase, it burned, but I had to endure it, I could only keep out of the matter, but I decided to interfere, I had to accept what happened to me, I stood there for a few moments enduring the pain and with some water I cleaned my back, I rinsed the part of the robe with blood, I used paper to avoid the blood to drip, it wasn't much bleeding, but I wanted to avoid any evidence that would give me away.

As I opened the door to the toilets, I was met by the two most unwelcome people at the moment.

- "Headmaster, professor I... Excuse me, I got out quickly, if you'll excuse me, I have to hurry back to the common room."

- "There, stop, why is your robe torn?"

FUCK! Fucking Snape couldn't you just ignore me like you do everyone else?

- "Oh, it's nothing, Professor, it just ripped when the troll event happened."

Please let me go, it hurts like hell.

- "Turn around."

- "Ok?"

I quickly turned 360° and tried to say goodbye again.

- "Good evening, teachers."

I heard rapid footsteps and a merciless hand touched my back, causing me to groan and almost curl up on the floor.

- "Why didn't you report your injury? Go to the infirmary immediately, I will deduct 50 points from Gryffindor for hiding your injury."

- "It's just muscle pain, no injury, when we were with the troll my back hit the wall."

- "50 points off to Gryffindor for..."

- "Severus, stop it, your office is the closest, go ahead and prepare an ointment."

- "Yes, Professor."

Snape, shook out his sleeves and left, I had been spotted, of all the bathrooms why had they walked past these!? Fuck, I think the first thing I'm going to spend my improvement points on is the "luck" category. While the director guided me, he kept silent, an uncomfortable silence. Once we reached Snape's office, the inevitable questioning began.

- "Why didn't you tell Professor McGonagall that you were injured? It's dangerous to leave a wound unhealed."

- "If I told her, there was a chance that Hermione would get into more trouble and take the blame that doesn't belong to her, we all make mistakes, and I don't think it's fair for her to pay for mine, as the professor said, it was my decision and mistake to go there when I could have warned the professors that she had gone ahead."

Luckily the nurse soon arrived and began to apply the ointment, but not before exclaiming in horror at how terrible it was and how careless they were as professors for allowing a troll in, the fucking ointment hurt, it burned, it was cold, and uncomfortable. When it was over, I was sent to bed with the premise of going to the infirmary every day to get my wound healed.

I felt quite nervous, I wanted to let it all out and say who I was, but I didn't know if it was the right thing to do, it was a good time, but with each passing year, more and more problems would arise in the magical world.

So I came up with a way, but I had to prepare it properly and avoid blurting out too much of future events. As I entered the common room it was empty, with signs of a small celebration, everyone was asleep, I was unfortunately hungry, but there was nothing to do, so I headed to my room trying to go as quiet as possible, the canopy on Hermione's bed was closed, as scared as she was she probably fell asleep quickly, I started to change out of my damp clothes to fall asleep, my back hurt less which I was glad about.

Overcome by sleep, I quickly fell asleep.
