chapter 8:Emily’s choıce

Today was a beautiful day because it was the naming ceremony for my newborn sister. In this world, names are given to babies when they are six months old, but before that, the head wizard blesses the baby and tries to see its future, just like they did to me when I was six months old. Interestingly, memories of my infancy still linger in my mind, perhaps because this life is my second life.

A few hours later, my father sat happily in the living room, holding my little sister in his arms, while my mother, the head wizard, and many other important figures were present. Soon all my siblings were in the living room except Karl. I hadn't seen them since my naming ceremony. Isabella, now around 23 or 24 years old, was a beautiful young woman who came directly to me with a smile on her face.

"Looks like you've grown a lot, little brother... Don't you recognize your sister?" Isabella said. After all, the last time I saw her, I was just six months old, and a normal child definitely wouldn't recognize her.

"Ethan, you must be my sister Isabella... You're the beautiful woman from the rumors," Ethan said. Isabella was surprised by her brother's words; after all, Ethan was still a child, but he didn't speak like children his age. Isabella thought, 'Teacher Mary must have educated him well.' They talked a bit more, and then Emily joined them.

Emily was Ethan's younger sister. She had long black hair and beautiful green eyes. She was currently at the academy, serving as the student representative, which showed her remarkable talent. Emily was even more talented in magic at the academy than Henry, and the head wizard wanted to accept her as his student. However, Emily refused, because he was already Henry's teacher, and Richard wouldn't approve of both his children being the head wizard's students, as it would greatly enhance the wizard's position in the country.

Emily approached Ethan and Isabella but didn't speak. It seemed she was still a bit shy. Later, the ceremony began, and they placed the baby in the basin, and the head wizard said the baby would have a good life alongside one of her siblings, and then Richard named the baby 'Darla.' Thus, the ceremony ended with a four-day feast. During the feast, Ethan conversed with both Isabella and Emily. Emily had overcome her shyness around Ethan. However, during this time, Henry hardly spoke to her. He didn't speak to the others either.

After the ceremony, Isabella and Henry returned to their regions as they couldn't leave them unattended. But Richard wanted to talk to Emily, and Ethan joined them.

"Emily, I've heard you've been doing quite well at the academy. If you want, I can give you a territory now and make you a rightful heir to the throne. Would you like that?" Richard asked.

Emily looked down for a while, then began to speak, "No, father, I don't want to be a queen," she said firmly.

"Why don't you want to be?" Richard asked.

"If I become queen, I might have to fight with my siblings, but I don't want that," she said. As she spoke her final words, she glanced slightly at Ethan. Richard then asked, "Then how do you want it? But remember, even if you don't want to be queen, your siblings might want it. Can you choose one of them then?"

Emily was silent; she didn't know how to answer that, but after a while, she spoke, "I'll decide when that day comes," she said. And so, she asked for permission and left the room. Richard looked at me and asked, "What do you think, Ethan, do you think she'll choose you?"

"I don't know, but I feel like if I wanted, I could achieve it, but I think she should make that decision herself. Emily may not have a strong will, but that doesn't mean she's foolish or weak," Ethan said. Richard nodded, satisfied with the answer, and then they both left the room.

A few months later,

Ethan woke up to another day in this world, but this time, he woke up with intense pain. He soon understood the reason for this pain. Ethan was about to undergo Awakening.

In this world, every person Awakens at the age of 8. Awakening essentially shows the person's mana ability. For example, Aphrodite had Awakened and started using 3rd level magic. People who use 2nd or higher level powers directly after Awakening are called prodigies. So when Ethan saw Aphrodite using her powers, he was very surprised.

Anyway, Ethan immediately called the servants. They took him to a large room where Richard and Luciana were also present.

Luciana said, "It looks like the time has come." Richard immediately brought a graceful bottle and asked me to drink it. "Drink this; it will help you. This liquid has been used for generations to awaken gravity magic, but it doesn't always work," he said and poured the liquid into my mouth. A few minutes later, the pain increased, and then the head wizard entered the room.

During Awakening, it was very helpful for another wizard to assist, but these wizards usually demanded a lot of money for it. Usually, people went through Awakening without the help of a wizard, but I was the prince, so I had to part with them.

The head wizard mumbled something, and blue lines began to form around me. After a while, my feet lifted a few centimeters off the ground. The pain was so intense that I wondered why I hadn't fainted yet. It felt like my brain was being destroyed and then rebuilt. But during this time, no matter how much I wanted to scream, my mouth felt sealed shut. The head wizard continued for about half a minute longer. That half a minute felt like half a year to me. When the pain finally subsided, I fell to the ground, but Luciana bent down and rested my head on her knees. The last thing I saw was Luciana's worried face.

When I woke up, I saw the ceiling and immediately realized it was my room. In the short time I spent in this world, I had grown attached to this room. My mother was sleeping on a chair. I tried not to wake her up as I got up.

"Hmm... Ethan, are you awake? Are you okay?" Luciana asked.

"Yes, mother, I'm fine. Let's take you to your room. We'll talk after you've rested," Ethan said and took Luciana to her room.

The next day, Mary took Ethan to the training ground. She wanted to test Ethan's powers. Ethan's parents were also present at the training ground.

"Come on, Ethan, try to feel your powers," Mary said, and Ethan was surprised at how easily he could feel the mana now. Then, he cast a spell towards a target..

Ethan's magic surged towards the target and struck it with a powerful blast. Everyone looked at Ethan in astonishment because controlling magic at this level typically took several years after Awakening.

Richard smiled proudly. "Great job, Ethan! Now we'll work on mastering the control of these powers," he said.

Mary encouraged Ethan to practice more, and Ethan continued his training. However, this time, he worked on refining his control over the magic power.

For several weeks, Ethan diligently worked on enhancing his magic power. Each day, he improved further and began to gain better control over his magic. Meanwhile, Emily continued her education at the Academy and further honed her magic skills.
