Asking For A Favour Part 1

Calder could feel his bad mood vanishing as he raced down the corridors. He hated the feeling of being hated. He hated that Lady Syria would misunderstand his good intentions and most of all he really didn't want the novel he was living in to turn out like how Mei wrote it.

He needed to do his best to change destiny and bring about a happier ending. Preferably where one didn't need anyone to die.

When Calder spotted Esai's double mahogany doors with the solid gold trim and foliage decorations he slowed down his pace. He adjusted his outfit that had become a mess from all his running and slowly approached the door.

As he raised his hand to knock he heard voices. "So Lady Syria is refusing to see him now?" Esai asked. Calder froze and strained his ears. "Yes, she won't tell me why but I thought I should bring it to your attention, your Majesty." A female voice said.

"Thank you. This does make things more difficult. How do you plan to fix this? I do hope you will take some responsibility in this matter. Maybe we should send you back to the Count's side and you can," Esai said but was interrupted by Calder rushing into the room.

"Big brother I have a favour to ask you!" Calder shouted as he scanned the room. Then he spotted her, Lady Syria's handmaid.

"Duke Anihata , I had no idea you were going to be stopping by." Esai said as a charming smile appeared on his face Calder could feel his blood running cold. He pissed off his brother, he pissed him off bad. Calder gulped and tried to stand tall but decided to sit on the sofa, he could never beat his brother.

"Lady Bane, I do apologize but it seems I must cut our meting short. It looks like the Duke has a matter of the up most of importance that needs my attention immediately." Esai said as he got up from his chair.

Calder looked at Lady Syria's handmaid and made a mental note of her name. She looked rather displeased with the interruption. Her small, thin lips pursed as she glared at Calder with her dark grey eyes.

"Yes your Majesty, thank you for meeting me, regardless of your schedule." Lady Bane said as she walked herself to the door. She opened the door and glanced back at Calder one last time, making sure that she gave him the iciest glares she could muster.

"Should there be any person in need, they should be helped. Regardless of race, identity, gender or age." Landis said firmly. "Right, I agree but this young lady decided to slap the young man for helping and then ran away." Calder explained.

"I'm sorry but she did what?!" Rutley shouted. "They young lady slapped the young across the face and he fell backwards stunned by the young lady." Calder said indifferently as he remembered what happened but his tone wasn't matching his facial expression. He was smiling from ear to ear.

Landis hummed to himself as he looked at Calder while Rutley's jaw dropped. "So how did the young man feel during all that?" Landis asked. "Why would you need to know that?!" Calder shouted as his ears blazed a bright red. Rutley's jaw dropped even further. "To have a better understanding of the situation my boy." Landis said with a small chuckle.

"He, he isn't sure..." Calder said in a soft and gentle voice. Rutley couldn't show anymore shock, he had become dumbstruck as he gawked. Landis stood up and walked over to Rutley. He patted his back and directed him to sit on the sofa along with him.

"You should come closer Calder. With my old age my hearing isn't the same as it used to be." Landis said. Calder nodded his head innocently then sat down on the sofa across from Rutley and Landis. "So the young man, do you know if his heart started beating faster?" Landis asked as he held up his tea cup for Rutley.

Rutley grabbed the tea pot and absent-mindedly poured the doctor another cup as he stared at Calder. "I think it did." Calder said sheepishly. Rutley fumbled the tea pot and almost dropped it back on the table.

"Are you okay Rutley?" Calder asked as he stretched out his hand to steady the teapot. "Don't mind him. I want to now what made this young man's heart speed up." Landis said as a wide grin appeared on his face.

Calder raised an eyebrow at Landis and he quickly waved it off. "Medical reasons, cough, I need to know for medical reasons. The poor, young man may have been having a heart attack." Landis said.

Calder nodded his head. It seemed logical. "He saw how beautiful she looked when her face was dyed red, her pretty eyes were kissed by tears and the way she bit down on her red lips was, was beyond words." Calder said in husky voice as is eyes started to glaze over.

Rutley opened his mouth wide as he was about to scream out in disbelief but Landis quickly covered his mouth with his hand. "Calder?" Landis called out softly, afraid to call him back from his thoughts. "Mmmh?" Calder replied.

"Is there any reason the young lady may have hit the young man?" Landis asked, still using is gentle tone. "No but she looked so captivating maybe he stared for too long." Calder replied with a soft smile.

Landis lowered his hand and sighed, he couldn't find out what happened between the two, even why Calder was dazed. "Oh but she called him a pervert before I was slapped." Calder said as he slowly came back from his memory. "Wait?! What?! Why?!" Rutley shouted as he raised his hands and tried not to pull his own hair.
