New Job .

Gwen's red convertible stood out as she parked it. She fumbled with her hair in a panic as she looked in the side mirror. '' How do I look ? ''

'' If you ask me that question one more time , I'll start to thing you're trying seduce the boss-" Alison's mouth stayed open.

" What's up? " Gwen asked. She soon tensed when a strong scent invaded her. It seemed to come from right next to her.

" You must be Ms. Barkley . " A deep voice sounded. Gwen slowly turned to find ink black eyes striking through her.

" I...Yes..." She blinked many times as she put on a composed face.

" I'm your new boss , Leander Celric , but you can call me Leander. " He was leaning on his elbow against the car. " Are you ready to get out of the car should I give you two a minute? ''

'' No...I'm ready. '' Gwen opened the door slowly as Leander slowly backed off. He watched her stand to her full height. She was beautiful indeed.

" Follow me. " He led the way.

" He was checking you out , Gwen. I swear . I saw it ! " Alison shrieked from the car.

" Shut your mouth! " Gwen rushed after her new boss.

There was movement everywhere . Everyone seemed busy. There was constant chattering and mumbling. Mr. Celric had quick long strides and Gwen nearly ran to keep up. At the pace they were going , she could barely register the things around her. They got into an elevator and got out of it. Then they walked through some doors and suddenly there was silence.

" This is your new team. " Leander announced. " Team , meet your boss , Gwen. "

With eight pairs of eyes glued on her , Gwen felt a bit chilly. For some reason , the air seemed a bit tense.

" Yes and that's your new office. " Leander pointed as he walked out. The word ' Head of Department ' were on the door of Gwen's new office.

" Hi , I'm Mable. Welcome. " She was a cheeky lady , probably in her mid-thirties. She had a warm smile and Gwen felt happy just looking at her red cheeks.

Everyone welcomed her except for one gentleman who was quite reluctant. He was angry with her for some reason. Luckily for Gwen , she didn't care.

She shut the door and leaned against it. The room was cool and smelt like the pages of a new notebook. Her table was nearly kempt and she had a nice view of the city. " Well Gwen , look at you now. " She held her chest. She couldn't believe it.

It was evening. The sun set was lovely. The walls of the office were orange from the sun rays. Gwen looked out the window and closed her eyes as she stretched her arms. For some reason her back was hurting. She wasn't used to sitting for s long.

" You'll get used to it. " The same strong scent invaded. Gwen spun round. How did he make no sound as he moved ? It was insane.

" I'm sure I will. " She gave a weak smile.

" I'm sorry for not showing you around today. I had an urgent meeting but you should know that you can come to me if you need anything. "

Gwen sighed as she glanced at her table heaped with paper work. " Then I guess I'll be coming to you A LOT. ''

" You have quite the sense of humour.'' Leander chuckled. " It's time to go home. Do you need a ride or are you waiting for that friend of yours? "

" I'll wait for her. "

" Then let's wait over coffee. There's a cafeteria downstairs. ''

'' Sure. Lead the way.''

They'd had coffee and a short chat. Gwen had decided to take a cab home but Leander insisted on driving her home. They spoke as they walked to his car.

" If you don't mind my asking...Why do you walk so fast? '' Gwen laughed. '' I can barely catch up to you ''

''I guess it's become a habit.'' He slowed his pace. '' You're gonna have to get used to it.''

They got into the car and drove off.
