"Sorry, I got held up for a bit."
Shen You, once again transformed into a ball of light, flew back underground and re-entered his armor. While he was gone, the pilotless armor had been aiming its palm cannon at the remaining demons.
"Just had to deal with a little flooding issue, nothing serious," Shen You said casually. "Now, where were we?"
The demons were already in a state of shock.
After all, they were demons. Though they'd been obediently staying underground the entire time, it didn't prevent them from being aware of what was happening on the surface.
They knew exactly what this big shot had just done outside.
Are you kidding? Pushing back a massive flood by himself in just a few minutes and returning without breaking a sweat—what kind of god-tier power was that?
From the perspective of these small demons, his power was beyond their understanding, existing on an entirely different level.
So they confessed everything, even things they shouldn't have.
However, when it came to the demon behind everything—Belial—they knew very little. They were only aware that he was a terrifying entity from another dimension with immense power, and that bringing his true form into this world required elaborate rituals and sacrifices.
Aside from these basic facts, the rest were just the demons' complaints and grievances about Belial.
"It's all his fault!" one demon cried out bitterly. "Belial is a cruel tyrant. If we fail to meet his demands, he'll devour us like snacks!"
"And he's completely depraved. He loves to capture women to serve him, sometimes taking several at once!"
"Yeah, especially those with slender waists and long legs," another demon added. "And he has a particular preference for married women!"
Shen You: "…"
So this demon was also a homewrecker, huh? Doesn't find it fun unless it's someone else's wife?
This backstory reminded Shen You of another famous DC universe demon—a genuinely terrifying entity—who also tried to invade reality from his dimension.
"By the way, I've heard he has a super powerful dad!" one demon grumbled, "I always thought he was just some spoiled brat—no real abilities of his own, just riding on his dad's coattails…"
"Wait a minute."
Shen You picked up on something.
"His father… is powerful?"
The demons' faces changed dramatically. They exchanged worried glances.
"It's not about whether he's powerful or not," one demon dared to speak softly. "He's the ruler of countless worlds, the destroyer of countless dimensions. His name itself is a symbol of destruction… He's one of the supreme demon lords…"
"Trigon?" Shen You ventured.
At the mention of this name, every demon shuddered uncontrollably, their faces displaying expressions of "I have nothing to do with the above statement."
Shen You knew he'd hit the mark.
Well, no surprise.
Trigon—one of the top-tier demons in the DC multiverse. It's said that at the age of one, he conquered his home planet; at the age of six, he destroyed it; and by the age of thirty, he ruled his entire dimension. From then on, he embarked on a path of interdimensional conquest, expanding beyond his own realm.
But his conquest wasn't carried out through conventional means. While typical demons were still busy tricking people into selling their souls through shady deals, Trigon had taken an entirely different approach—using his lower half to achieve transcendence, single-handedly conquering his way through the multiverse.
Yes, you read that right. As a multi-dimensional demon, his approach was abstract, reminiscent of those early online novels where characters would gain massive power boosts not by training, but through "conquests." He could transform into various forms and seduce women across different dimensions. The offspring born from these unions would later serve as conduits, allowing his true form to descend into those dimensions.
Trigon—a contender for the title of the multiverse's biggest playboy. Even Zeus, the legendary lothario of Olympus, would have to bow down and relinquish his crown in this regard.
Trigon's offspring were scattered across the multiverse, their power levels ranging from pathetically weak to surpassing even Trigon himself. Some of his children were more powerful than his true form, while others were no stronger than ordinary humans. Shen You hadn't yet encountered Belial's true form, but his avatar seemed unthreatening. However, if Trigon was involved, the issue became serious.
This wasn't a typical planetary crisis—Trigon's descent could affect an entire universe. No matter where you hid, it wouldn't matter; one bad mood, and he could set the entire universe ablaze.
Shen You pondered for a moment.
"Paar, help me record a name and remind me to look into it when I get back."
"Rachel Roth. Likely a magic-based superhuman, but it's possible she hasn't yet displayed her abilities. Female, probably between fourteen and nineteen years old…"
Rachel Roth, hero codename: Raven. The most famous of Trigon's children, and the only one known to be more powerful than her father. She's a well-known magic-based superhero. In the multiverse, whenever Trigon sets his sights on Earth, nine times out of ten, the portal he uses is linked to her.
Shen You continued digging into his distant memories. These recollections had already been hazy before he crossed over to this world. Fortunately, since his rebirth as an Ultraman, his brain had evolved, and even the vaguest childhood memories from his past life had become clearer. Thus, his knowledge of every DC comic chapter he had read was now vivid, easily accessible with a little thought.
"She should be a white girl… Ah, wait, maybe she's Black now."
Shen You frowned.
His memories came from the original comics he read back in the day, but it had been years since he last followed DC comics before his rebirth. He'd heard from friends that the gene of "Blackification" had penetrated even the comics, with a dozen prominent characters, including members of the Justice League, having been turned Black. He couldn't discount the possibility of that happening here, too.
A distinctive trait of DC comics is that many powerful characters have their own specific weaknesses. For example, Superman is vulnerable to kryptonite, Martian Manhunter is weak against fire, and Trigon's weakness is… doors.
Throughout his long history, nine out of ten times Trigon was defeated because his portal was disrupted. So no matter what, the key was to locate Raven, using her to figure out how to prevent Trigon from descending and eliminating the threat before it emerged… or in this case, keeping the "door" shut tight.
"Um… we really have nothing else to confess," a demon said timidly. "Could you… spare us?"
Shen You snapped back to reality.
"Oh, I got caught up thinking… Alright, let's continue. Are all of you gathered here? Any stragglers?"
The demons glanced around, looking at each other.
After a moment, one of them replied, "Well… Amon-Hotep isn't here. He's currently undercover in a human organization called the 'Checkmate.'"
"Right, and apparently, those humans are plotting against you! But of course, it's all wishful thinking…"
"Speaking of which, they've recently been harassed by some extraterrestrial being," another demon chimed in. "Amon-Hotep mentioned something about a superfast, superstrong alien with laser eyes…"
"Hmm?"
Shen You narrowed his eyes.
"Tell me more about this alien."
