Chapter 28 : The Price Of Hurting Bai Lian ( part 1 )

After a day free of worries and just happiness, it was time for thing to return to how it was. Jian Ze insisted that they could continue to pay for Wang Qian and Bai Lian's expenses, but Wang Qian didn't want to take away the fruits of his new believer's hard works. Hearing his answer, Jian Ze gave up trying to help his lord to pay for his expenses. 

The two woke up and ate their breakfast at the same place again and headed to the adventurers guild. This time, they decided to pick a D-rank mission. They chose a mission where it required mages to assist workers by using magic to tear down certain buildings that has high resistance against physical damage. This mission was said to be quite suitable for the current them as they managed to learn one basic spell of all the affinities they have.

Wang Qian's spells were [ Dark Curse ] and [ Holy Cure ]. Surprisingly, despite already knowing how to use them, the system didn't recognize them as skills. He'd probably need to use them first before the spells can be recognized as a skill by the system.

The spells Bai Lian learned on the other hand, was [ Water Ball ], [ Flame Ball ], [ Light Ray ] and [ Healing ]. Yes, you guys saw it right. The name of the first basic spell of healing magic was [ Healing ]. Now now, despite the name of the spell, it's effect is quite good, which was to heal the injuries of the target and increase the recovery speed of the target by 30%. Unlike Wang Qian's [ Holy Cure ] which the amount of mana consumed depended on the difference between the caster and the target, Bai Lian's skill doesn't have such limitations. It only requires a certain amount of mana to activate and the effect will take place. 

Wang Qian wanted to increase their efficiency and mastery in using the spells as the book mentioned that the more control over the spell one have, the less effort and mana needed to use it. This time, the system's daily wasn't to break the buildings. Instead, it wanted to raise his mastery of the two spell to level 2 before the day ends. The rewards given this time was actually only 20 exp and 1 coin. Wang Qian was enraged, the system wanted it to raise the spells level to 2 before midnight and it only gave him this less rewards. Moreover, how can he train his spells? He can use [ Holy Cure ] on his believers, but who can he use [ Dark Curse ] on? The civilians? Heck no! They didn't did anything to him, so how can he place a curse on them for no reason? He immediately decided to give up on this quest and focused on training Bai Lian instead. 

The two then headed towards the location mentioned on the poster. Thankfully, all of those place was quite near to each other, so they didn't need to run around just to finish a mission. The first building was near the city's wall, so there wasn't much people there. 

"Okay. Let's start our training now. Bai Lian, try to break down this wall using water, flame and light magic." Wang Qian pointed towards a wall and said after stretching his body.

"I'll do my best." Bai Lian said cutely.

She first use [ Water Ball ] on the wall. The ball was then shot towards the wall after condensing. Sadly, it didn't manage to do any damage to the wall. Unwilling to give up, she then used [ Flame Ball ] and shot it towards the wall. This time, the ball managed to leave a giant crack on the wall after enveloping the wall with fire for around 5 seconds. Wang Qian then walked towards the wall and saw that there was still smoke on the wall, he then knocked on it. The next second, the wall crumbled into pieces after his knock. Seeing this, Bai Lian jumped up in happiness of successfully destroying the wall. 

"Yay! I did it, I did it Wang Qian!" she said happily

"As expected of my daughter, breaking this wall with just a basic spell" Wang Qian praised her

"Hehe"

They then moved on to another wall, and let Bai Lian used [ Light Ray ] on it. Surprisingly, the wall immediately crumbled down as the ray hit it. The ray didn't stop as it continue to penetrate the wall on the other side, before disappearing into the air. The pair was stunned before Wang Qian praised Bai Lian again for her success in breaking the wall. She was very happy after realizing that she managed to break two walls with a single spell. Wang Qian then let Bai Lian stand far away from the building as he condensed a sturdy hammer and smashed it towards the wall. The impact caused the whole building to crumble down in seconds. He became dumbfounded as Bai Lian started cheering him.

"Wow, you broke the building down with just one hit? So cool! I wanna try that too!" she said

After returning to his senses, he replied to her

"You can't do so. Girls are suppose to be elegant while boys are suppose to do the hard work. So you shouldn't try to lift a hammer as it's very unbefitting and heavy"

"Oh" she replied to him in dejection after hearing that she can't use the hammer.

Things was normal at other locations, Wang Qian let Bai Lian have fun using her magic first before destroying the building using the hammer condense through [ Magic Condensation ]. As they finished the last building, they realized that it was already evening and about time for them to go back. They went back to the adventurers guild and handed in the poster to the staff

"Please come back and take your reward tomorrow. The guild will send people to check the locations and see if they are broken down already" the staff said to them

Hearing so, Wang Qian decided to go back first and eat dinner. They sat down on a table and ordered the same meal as always and started eating. A few tables behind them, two men were talking to each other quietly.

"Hey bro, look at the girl over there."

"What about her?"

"Isn't she pretty? We should be able to earn a lot if we kidnap her and sell her to those rich bastards"

"Your idea isn't bad. We'll have to make a plan if we want to capture her."

Just then, Bai Lian, who has already finished her meal, said to Wang Qian

"Can I go to the toilet?" she asked

"Sure, I'll come and look for you upstairs once I pay for the meals" he said as he gave her the keys to their room.

Seeing this, the two kidnappers knew their chance has come as they paid for the food and sneakily went up to the second floor and waited for the prey to come. Just as Bai Lian walked out of the stairs, the two men immediately cover her with a bag and jump out of a nearby window 

Wang Qian, who finished paying for their meals, suddenly heard the sounds of window breaking. The next second he heard something that made his heart shook

"AHHHH!!" Bai Lian screamed.

Hearing her voice, he immediately ran out and shouted

"BAI LIAN!"

He then jumped onto the roof of the building next to the inn, and looked around before seeing two men running on top of roofs as something that is wiggling around was carried in their hands.

"BAI LIAN!!" he screamed as he ran towards them.

The kidnappers immediately jumped down from the roof after hearing scream. When he reach the place where the two jumped off and look down, the kidnappers were already gone. Seeing this, he immediately contacted Jian Ze through the link between them.

"Do you need me, my lord?" Jian Ze asked

"Bai Lian was kidnapped, I want you to ask all the believers in this city to start searching for the kidnappers. They are wearing shirts with no sleeve and has short pants on them."

"Understood, my lord. I will tell the others to start the search immediately" Jian Ze replied after understanding the seriousness behind the tone of Wang Qian.

"Just wait for me Bai Lian. I'll definitely save you." He said softly as he continued to ran on top of the roofs trying to search for the kidnappers while looking from above.....
