Chapter 28 Kill To Survive; Survive To Kill

Monsters swarmed a certain place, attacking the students with their fierce speed and penetrative power. It looked like these monsters were attracted to powerful people, as all of them were fighting a group of powerful, high-ranking students, and the monsters count here is relatively higher than in other places, indicating they are indeed targeting strong students.

A group of 50 students fought with seemingly endless monsters. Their bodies accumulated injuries, and their faces showed visible signs of exhaustion, but they still kept fighting because they knew if they stopped now, it would be their end, so they gritted their teeth and fought to survive.

It was their second crisis after the dungeon incident. Many students died and suffered life threatening injuries, and some of the dead and injured students were close to other students, so they didn't want to die.

An ethereal golden aura enveloped all the students. Slowly, their complexion returned to their faces as their bodies started to slowly heal.

After the ethereal glow died down, a figure of a girl revealed. She slumped into the ground and grasped heavily. Her blond hair was a mess, and it stuck to her face because of the sweat.

"Are you okay, Acelia?" a girl beside her asked in worry.

"Yeah, I'm okay." Nodding her head, she took out a potion from her spatial watch and drank it.

Monsters attacked Acelia, seeing her vulnerable state, but their attempt was stopped by other students beside her.

"Thanks guys," she said with a smile, and got up from her position. "I'm ready now." Seeing her determined face, the group nodded at her.

Asher, Aaron, Marcus, Aiden, and the other main cast members kept on fighting while Alicia protected Acelia. As Acelia was a healer, she supported them from behind.

Mana started to churn around her and shone slightly in a golden glow as she started to chant in Elvish language. To her surprise, mist started to appear suddenly in that place, and her concentration was cut off.

"What's happening?"

"Did a new monster arrive?"

Their surprise didn't last long; they instantly prepared themselves to fight the new monster. Their gaze searched the monster in the mist, and gripping their weapon tightly, they prepared for an ambush.

"Lucy–" Asher called her, but he got his reply quickly.

"I know," her hands started to glow in a teal color as wind psions turned into a gust of wind.

With a clap of her hands, the gust of wind turned fierce, causing the mist to spread around and disappear instantly. As the wind hit the monster's wings, it lost balance for a moment, taking the chance the other students attacked it.

10 minutes earlier

"Fuck, I shouldn't have lured them with me" dozens of monsters were following behind me. Because I became too greedy and lured them, I forgot they were faster than me. Now I was hunted by them.

"I didn't have a choice, huh?" I wanted to reserve my mana, but I didn't have a choice now.

Mist

Casting the mist spell, I activated the perfect copy. As my copy slowly manifested, I gave a mental command to distract them. Nodding his head, he went outside of the mist and lured the monster. Seeing they go after him, I sighed in relief.

Another blast wave hit me. This time, the blast wave was relatively weak as the distance increased, but the mist disappeared and revealed my position.

"Fuck you instructors." Activating Dash, I ran fast while avoiding the fight.

After running for 5 minutes, I arrived at the place "there they are." Seeing a group of students fighting monsters in a broken building, I headed there.

Shadow Monarch

Using Shadow Monarch combined with Dash, my movements became much faster, and my presence decreased. Without alerting anyone I arrived at the broken building.

"Where is a good hiding place?" I looked and observed a place close to the students, finding a good spot where monsters and the students could not see. I deactivated Shadow Monarch and summoned the clone, I prepared to cast mist.

But seeing their exhausted faces, I suddenly halted the process. Second thoughts started to surface in me, and I became hesitant.

'No, it's a perfect chance to increase my status' My hands started to tremble as I was about to cast a mist. Numerous scenarios flashed through my mind, including where they were dead and the thought of me becoming a murderer by killing these poor children.

"N-no I can do it" As I started to stand up and leave, my body suddenly froze in place.

I sat there and waited patiently until the monster corps accumulated a certain number.

Lucy said as she observed the corpse. Hearing her words, the students instantly tensed, immediately moving away from the corps they observed carefully. But the glow disappeared as soon as it came.

"Are you sure it glowed, Lucy?" Marcus asked while killing the monsters. The other students looked at her, unsure about her judgment, but they knew she wouldn't lie.

She nodded. "My eyes won't lie to me." She confirmed. "No need to be alarmed; I don't know why it happened, but I'm sure it's not serious; I couldn't find any threatening function mana from it."

She reassured them. But her gaze paused in my direction for a second.

'Shit, she is suspicious' With her mana eyes, she must have seen my mana function. 'Hey, cover your face and lure more monsters here; don't get detected by others while moving from here' I commanded. He ripped off the uniform and covered his face. Taking out my dagger, I shaved his head. Because I was in a hurry, there were a few scars and hairs here and there on his head.

'It's perfect; now go and lure them to here' Nodding his head, he stealthily moved.

I casted mist again.

"Huh, where is this coming from?"

"Is this a new monster or not?"

The students expressed their worries.

'I'm sure Lucy will instantly figure out someone was doing this intentionally, and she is looking in this direction... But where is Seisha? I couldn't find her. Well, it's good she's not here.

Lucy cast another wind spell again and removed the mist. "Aiden, can you check that place?" She pointed in my direction. "I can see familiar mana there."
