The Town of Ankar

The town of Ankar, a place with bustling activities. Everywhere you go, you will see many people doing their daily stuff like shopping, selling stuff, and much more. But this town is not known for that, the town of Ankar is known because it's one of the biggest town where Adventurers and Mercenaries gathers around.

A lot of people, mostly nobles, hired people from the Adventurer's Guild to clear some area of monster infestation. But for the Mercenaries, they must go to different place to hire them, it's called the Mercenary Association.

Unlike Adventurer's Guild that's filled with individuals with strong power, the Mercenary Association are filled with a lot of strong group of Mercenaries. They all have rank their strength ranked from rank Bronze to Luminite, with Luminite being the highest rank an Adventurer can get while the SS rank are the highest a Mercenary groups can achieve.

The purpose of Lucas visiting the town of Ankar are just to purely sightseeing. He's curious how the civilization in this world looks like. Just what like he predicted on his way to Ankar town, the town is very much like a medieval town. With a lot of western influence in it.

Walking to the town centre, he saw a lot of Adventurers walking around the street, of course he saw some Mercenary groups as well. The equipment they're wearing cannot be considered as an excellent equipment, but at least it's enough for them to fight low-ranking monster. Lucas guessed that this Adventurer's and Mercenary groups are low ranked themselves.

"With one month before the invasion, should i join the Adventurer's Guild? Or should i do someting else?"

This is one problem that keeps haunting Lucas. He can't be with the goblins all the time. He need time for himselves, too. He need to build up connection in the human city and human kingdom. Right now, he's still weak, he still doesn't have enough influence to affect the whole world. He still have a long way to go.

Lucas sighed, there's still a long way to go for him to truly become the Emperor of Monster/Non-Humans. For him to be an Emperor, he need to be strong enough so he can protect is subject.

Without realizing it, Lucas arrived in front of the Adeventurer's Guild, he just stood there staring at the big building in front of him.

"Hey! Don't just stand there like an idiot! You're blocking the way!"

A voice came from behind Lucas. Lucas turned around and saw a group of people standing in front of him. The group consist of five people, three men and two women, all of them are at least a year or two younger than Lucas.

"Why the hell are you still standing there? Get out of our way!"

That came from one of the men in the group. His tone while talking showed how arrogant he is. Actually, without him even talking, Lucas can already guess the guy's personality just looking at his face. It's those typical young master who think they're above everyone else.

But that came not without a reason, Lucas already saw the armor they wear and the weapon they bring. Just one glance and Lucas already know that the stuff they're wearing and bring are expensive. Not like those adventurers and mercenaries he saw from before. They probably come from rich families.

Not wanting trouble in his first time visiting a human town, Lucas stepped aside and let the group walk past him. But, the two girls that following them approached Lucas.

"We're sorry for his attitude before, he comes from a noble families so i think you already know why he's acting like that, we're truly sorry on his behalf."

Unlike that young man from before. This two girls are the complete opposite of him. They don't even feel disgusted talking to someone that doesn't have the same status as them. The two girls in front of him are kind, Lucas are glad that these two girls are not the same like the young man from before.

"It's fine, i don't really mind it." Said Lucas while smiling. Because they're kind to him, why should he be mean to them?

"Say, i never seen you before, are you new here? Are you here to sign up as an adventurer?"

"Yes, you're right, i'm new in here. And just like you said, i'm here to sign up as an adventurer."

"That's great! With our help, you can register yourself without much problem! Just take it as a token of apologies."

Lucas are a little bit surprised because the two girls are helping him to register as an adventurer. They talked a little bit while walking inside to the Adventurer's Guild. From what he heard from these two girls--Charlotte Wolfen and Elizabeth Wolfen--it takes a couple of days to complete the registration for joining the Adventurer's Guild. But with the help of Charlotte and Elizabeth, it only takes a couple of hours before it's completed.

Regarding the two girls, they have different personalities. Charlotte have a cold personalities and often callen Ice Queen by Elizabeth, she is a wizard and have an ice element as her main element, hence the Ice Queen nickname. Meanwhile, Elizabeth are cheerful and like to talk a lot, she's a swordmaster that use a saber-like word as her main weapon. They both have the rank of a Mythril adventurer and came from the same families--the Wolfen families.

After filling the registration form, Elizabeth and Charlotte takes Lucas to a restaurant near the Adventurer's Guild. There, Lucas saw the group of men that he bumped into before, the very same group that Charlotte and Elizabeth belongs to.

"Where have you guys been? We've been looking around but can't find you anywhere, so we came here first."

Lucas that are standing behind the two girls are ignored by the men that are talking to Charlotte and Elizabeth. The way they talk to the two girls indicate that these two girls have a higher standing from them, or perhaps they're just trying to woo Charlotte and Elizabeth, who knows?

"We're helping a friend to register in the guild before, so it takes us a long time, we are sorry for making you wait so long."

"No no no! It's fine! It's your decision so we can't do anything to change it. By the way, who is this friend you're referring to?"

"It's me, have a problem with that?"

Finally, Lucas has the chance to speak, but from the reaction of the men in front of him, they clearly doesn't like Lucas appeareance here.

"Why are you here? Who told you that a commoner like you can be here?"

"Who let dogs get inside this restaurant? I can't stand their barking!"

Hearing Lucas insult, the youth and his group showed an angry expression. They drawed their sword and looked ready to charge. But Lucas doesn't even panic, why? Because Charlotte and Elizabeth already moved to protect him, so why bother moving?

"Do you really want to kill a fellow adventurer? Do not forget that you're standing before a person from the Wolfen family."

Hearing the surname Wolfen, the youth and his group shuddered, the surname Wolfen seems famous and feared by them. Just what are the Wolfen family?

"Remember this, we will come back and get you, better be on guard, commoner."

"You're threatening me? Nice try, but try harder, you can only scare little kid with that kind of threat."

The youth snorted and walked away with his subordinate. Leaving Lucas with Charlotte and Elizabeth alone. Luckily, there's not a lot of people in the restaurant at the time, so there's not going to be people gossiping about this incident later on.

"We're sorry, again, for this. The man you just met are called Conrad Bertand, as we said before, he came from a noble family. Hence the arrogant attitude you saw earlier. But comparing his families to us--he's family is nothing."

"Well, i guess i can only say thank for saving me, again."

"That is what friend do, right? Beside, you're not strong enough, he's a Gold level adventurer while you're a Bronze rank. He has a lot of skill that's pretty strong too, so you can't fight him atleast now, but in the future? Who knows what will happen?"

"You shall see later."

Elizabeth smiled and stared at Lucas. In Elizabeth mind, she finds Lucas pretty interesting. He doesn't fear Conrad even though Conrad is clearly stronger than him. Not only that, he's kind and not like other men that they met before, where they started flirting with her and Charlotte the moment they met. It made Lucas a little bit mysterious in Elizabeth eyes. It also made her think--is she not attractive enough in Lucas eyes?

"Anyway, it's time for me to go back to the inn, i'm tired and need to sleep. Hope we meet again, see ya."

Even though Lucas wanted to stay a little longer with the two girls, Lucas needed to do something else. Beside, who doesn't want to chat with two beautiful girls? Lucas wanted to do that too, but he has more urgent matter. He need weapons and armors. So he can only say goodbye reluctantly to the girls.

Meanwhile, after Lucas left the restaurant, a man with black cloak covering his body showed on the rooftop. He looked at the way Lucas walking and smirked before his body dissapeared, as if he's never been there before.
