Part VI

Remember how I mentioned it was like a short peace before another storm? Shin, that side-kick guy, after he got his ass kicked by those bullies because of my brothers, he laid low to get his revenge on me. It was the last day of school before summer vacation, I was practicing boxing while watching my father's team playing football when I heard my father calling out my name. Taking off my boxing gloves, I walked towards him when I noticed Shin and his mother waiting for me impatiently. Something felt wrong, Shin's right hand was plastered, I remember having an argument with him today, but the plaster? Numerous questions crossed my mind as I stood in front of them.

Douglas : Did you have a fight with Shin today? (He raises his brow questioning me)

Me : (I hesitate a bit before replying) Yes.

Shin's mother : See, I told you, she broke my son's arm! (She shouts while pointing at me rudely)

Me : Dad, don't listen to her, she is lying to you. (I said in a calm voice)

Douglas : Anne, apologize to Shin and his mother. (He says in a stern voice)

Me : (I look at him in disbelief) Why should I? I haven't done anything to him!

Shin : How can you deny it after doing it, Anne? All my friends saw you doing it, and when they tried stopping you, you beat them up till they had to be admitted to the hospital.

Douglas : Do you have proof to voice your statement? (He looks at me in an interrogative manner)

I step back and bite my lower lip, I indeed have no alibis, but that doesn't mean that whatever they are claiming is true. I remained quiet unable to argue back against his valid points.

Shin : See momma, she is quiet, which means she is admitting her mistakes. (He exclaimed making me more furious)

Douglas : (bows as he offers money) I am apologizing on my daughter's behalf, here is the medical support. Hope you will forgive and forget this incident.

Me : Dad! (I tried pulling him back but my small body didn't have that much strength) Don't you trust me??

Shin's mother : Well…. Do you think this is enough? (She says while snatching the money from Dad's hand)

My father leaned towards her with an emotionless expression, his eyes glowing with anger, the veins on his forehead swelled up as he stared deep into her eyes making her shiver as he says in a cold voice.

Douglas : Don't…..push...it. (he says gritting teeth)

shin's mother : (scared) Y-Ya this is enough (she cold sweat) hope this doesn't repeat in the future. (She says before dragging Shin away)

Me : (I was a bit disheartened as I looked at him with disappointment) Do you even trust me?

I felt like tearing up, but there were no tears in my eyes, I could only glare at him, my own father doesn't trust my words, what can be worse than this? I was about to burst into anger, my head hurt from the suppressed anger and frustration. I was grabbing my own arm tightly while biting my lower lip hard still looking into his eyes, a minute passed before he finally broke the long silence and the tension with some cold words.

Douglas : Who will? This world works on proofs, they had evidence against you, but did you have any alibis? No right? (I looked down embarrassed)

This society doesn't want to know how much truth you speak, they want to hear presentable lies. There is no place for trust here, the sooner you understand it, the better. If you want justice, take it by your own capability instead of depending on others to help you out. (He says before picking up his bag and walking  towards home, leaving me behind to fight with my own mixed emotions)

I stared at the sky breathing in and breathing out as I make a fist angrily, my body felt heavy and my emotions start getting numb, my head was blank and I forced a sarcastic laugh about the process of human brains.

Me : Lies….you say? So…there is no place….for truth and trust?... Fine then…..I will become a liar, I don't need anyone, just wait for my revenge…..Anne Elizabeth will strike back when no one will expect it, just you all wait and watch. (I said in a low cold voice as my eyes moved like a psycho who has lost all sense of sanity they used to have)
