Chapter 4- |Saving The Mysterious Black Cat|

From when I was little, there was a question that had never ceased to be forgotten from my memories, being reincarnated into the same character for many years, now.

Why must I always remember things when the curtain of my happily ever after closes itself forever? Why can't I remember, that as the supporting character of the fairytale, I must not fall in love with the main male protagonist? Why must my memories always return only after feeling the pain in my chest when, I see Cinderella dancing with the man I fell for?

Why must it be him? Why must it be only then?

It's obvious, that the entire kingdom itself is based upon recarnation of the fairytale characters but why must it only be me who suffers from this wretched destiny? Well, I know the answer for it.

It's because I was a villainess, off and on the stage of my fairytale.

......

After escaping from the prison and spending the night alone in a place that seemed like an oasis for my exhausted self, I woke up and took a glance at the atmosphere around me.

It was already daytime, but I am hardly sure about it as my surroundings were covered with a thick fog. It was a zero visibility area that the sunlight struggled to touch my skin being encapsulated by the thick canopy of the trees residing in this forest. It seemed like the ground begged for the taste of the golden sunlight but miserably failed to receive it's warmth. The poor brightness of the fire, I had ignited by rubbing two stones, was my only torch out of the thick foggy forest.

I sighed. I know exactly where I was - The Enchanted woods, the place were many mystic creatures like unicorns, pixies and dwarves lived. I trugged my footsteps more faster yet quieter remembering how dangerous it would be if I get caught by the tribes residing in the forest, especially Centaurs, who have a close connection with the royal palace.

It would be troublesome, if they were to report me, to the prison guards.

I had to take steps cautiously. It was not easy to walk around because of the million possibilities of these dangerous creatures, encounters with officials, quicksands and the emptiness of a supermarket or even a convenient store for buying nessarary supplies.

I continued to trek down the road, when I found an enormous empty cave with nothing but pitch darkness to be covered inside it.

I approched it, but quickly halted

afraid of the unknown circumstances that might be lurking down this inviting shelter. After much thought, I sat down beside a giant tree that stood next to the cave.

I stretched my legs under it's relaxing shade and took out the Enchanted book of Grim's fairytales, (the metallic book, my mother had forced me to read the happenings of my future and the story line of all the other characters) from my bag.

I rolled it's pages. My eyes piercing at those wretched writings.

......

"Bipiti popati poo".

Chanted the fairygodmother and poof turned Cinderella's ragged clothes into a beautiful blue gown.

"Ohh, It's beautiful. It's such a beautiful dress and look...glass slippers. It's.. like a dream. Oh, a wonderful dream has come true". Exclaimed Cinderella in delight at her gorgeous reformed dress.

......

My lips turned sour at the very memory of the previous events of this life and my mind tried to scan for it's mistakes.

Just, where did I go wrong?

Being already fed with the summary of the Cinderella's fairytale. I knew, bullying my step-sister would only cause me a misfortune. And, that's the reason I tried avoiding the heroine, her little pets and my selfish stepfather at all costs. I was the dumb countess who was lazy and not good enough for anything even bullying her own stepsister according to the story.

That's the impression I had created for my character, this life. And, this was how I tried to escape my misfortune though. But..

"Arrgh! Come on!! Just dance according to the song already guys!! "

I suddenly felt a familer strong transformation magic being cast from a few distance from here.

I abruptly pull up the black hood I had knitted myself and silently walk towards it, adjusting my freshly woven humble peasent's gown, I had replaced instead of the dainty prison dress.

I abruptly walked towards the sound and gently pushed aside the creeper standing in my line of vision and watched from afar.

"OK, OK come again, friends. Our fairytale is gonna be a disaster if we don't work togather! "

exclaimed the short little fairy in exhaustion.

Her beautiful blueish-white gown sparkeled with blue magic. Her sky light blue hair waves were decorated with little flowers of all colored were gracefully fitted like a beautiful crown over her head. Her thin metallic wand that now danced upon her delicate hands emitted a strong glittery glow as the other domestic animals tried dancing along with her song.

Beautiful was her other definition.

"Shalla ta do aa magica boo aa bippiti popati po!" She half chanted half sung, in her special runic words waving her wand diligently. I watched in admiration, an ancient magic that no one except fairies like her mastered it escaped her lips.

The big pumpkin, she had placed in the center of the arrangement popped and rolled as though dancing with four mice and the sleepy dog that sat in wonder at the beautiful wave of the little fairy girl started transforming as she starts singing the lyrics.

Delight filled her eyes. And, pride enlightened her little cheeks to a grin as the magic starts working and an expression of satisfaction replaced her earlier refined unemotional "kuudere" face.

It was the Fairy Godmother, from the Cinderella story. An important person who had caused my life to ruin. I remember, a life where my step mother herself tried to steal the magic wand she posses but, miserably failed anyway.

But, now that I think about it. my mother didn't actually do anything like that in this life being a recarnated woman from the other world. These were the few twists that happens occasionally in the story in every recarnation.

In my other lives, my fairytale has been twisted and twirled a million times, into many versions including, a mordern twist, the dramatic epilogue, even a musical.

But, there was one thing that had never changed. I was still the villaness and I definitely do not get a happily ever after. And, no matter how hard I rebel to not go according to the story line, the incidents that are destined to happen definitely will happen.

I looked at the young fairy working so hard in chanting a new spell. I never knew, the fairy Godmother of my own fairytale was a person who needed special training to practice certain master spells, I thought.

"Hmmm.."

And, speaking about surprises, In the story, it's said that the fairy godmother is supposed to be someone very old but..

I rubbed my eyes and tried looking more clearly.

The fairy I was looking at now, was clearly just a girl. A little 8year old girl to be more specific. She was short had a cute curly blue waves and her own glass slippers glistened underneath her flowing blue gown.

But, I think that was kinda understandable.

In the world of fairytales, there was a concept called 'off' and on the 'stage' phenomenon.

The things that happen 'on' the stage are strictly restricted to the contents written on our fairytales. Wherehas when we are 'off' the stage, for a few moments and the stage was shifted to another character, we have some kind of freedom to whatever we want or

This was the reason the characters need not neccessarily act the same as they are depicted on the book nor even be treated the same way outside our story.

And, this is how in this brand new world Fairytales and fictions villainess and protagonist have different role in the fairytale society as whole, apart from how we are depicted on our storylines.

And, if anyone changes the order or some glitch happens on 'stage' like how Cinderella went missing, our scared storyline immediately stops and.. everything collapses...

"Ugh.. Come on already.. !"

The fairygodmother's voice intruppted my thread of thoughts.

"Bipiti boobati poo!!! "

She cast a the spell again, when suddenly a black cat meowed loudly and run towards her long gown completely frightening her.

I chuckled as she pouted in her exhaustion that almost looked like a pug dog.

Serves her right. For ruining my life along with Cinderella! I mentally cursed her.

The girl cried in frustration that her perfect animal formation was completely ruined by the black cat and tried to cast another spell in complete anger. I looked more intently at the trembling black cat, which was now a prey to the fury of the little fairy.

"Luciper!"

I whispered in panic at the very sight of my pet cat, but soon discovered it wasn't him.

I relaxed.

But, then, the glow emitting from the hands of the furious fairy grew more and more powerful at an alarming state. I panicked.

The real reason fairies are one of the most powerful creatures of fairytale is because of their natural ability to absorb and release mana from their naturally gifted appropriate bodies.

Usually most of the fairies live in peaceful kingdom called Fairyland. The kingdom next in power after The great kingdom of Fairytale was the Fairyland.

But, Though the fairies have their own kingdom many of them had migrated to Fairytale to fulfil their mystical roles in the fairytales. Something that is being repeated for centuries.

Few of the migrated fairies include. The Fairygodmother, Fairy from the woodcutter story, Tinkerbell from Peter Pan and the three red, blue and green fairies from Sleeping Beauty.

"You! Brute cat!" she yelled completely contrasting their god-like patience of an elegant creature and released some dangerous mana out of her body. An outrageous behavior for a fairy.

This could kill the little cat! What is she thinking? I gasped.

With a quick thought, I abruptly threw a little pebble near the narrow brooke that ran near us and diverted the concentration of the young fairy.

Now, that the fairy has finally left, realizing there was someone else beside her in the forest (probably too ashamed to reveal her weakness,) I came out of my hiding place and let out a deep sigh.

I don't know who is consumed with much pride.

Me or her?

The poor black cat miserably wimped in fear, terrified of the cruel fairy's brutal magic.

"Oh, you poor thing" I cried with compassion stretching my hands to frightened creature and half sat on my knees to match the cat's own height.

"Meeerrrowww" growled the angry animal in a threat and abruptly scratched my hands. Blood poured out of those scratches.

"You disgraceful animal!" I cried in pain and tried to whisper tenderly.

"I know, that fairy was really terrifying but that doesn't mean you can wound your savior." I said as though chiding a little child and took some meat I had packed from last night's dinner in the prison. It was disgusting and terrible for a Nobel like me to be fed with. But for a cat, I don't think it would.

At the sight of half cooked meat, the cat abruptly snatched it from my hand and ran off a few steps before sitting down for the meal.

I placed my chin over my knees. and looked at it grobble the food clumsily. The cat after a little pause looked at me as though it was sending me a sharp glare but then continued it's gobbling ritual.

I chuckled. Seems like it's too shy to intent stares. It has such a human character.

I gently got up from my position and approched the cat. I was tempted rubbing its cute sharp ears but my fingers hesitated having already been wounded by the fierce cat.

And, suddenly the cat nudged a gentle push of it's head up my palm and licked the blood that spilled from the wound, it had created. The little creature looked at me with it's sharp blue eyes as though it looked sorry for what it had done and rubbed my hand.

A soft smile curled upon my lips.

"I wish, all the other human living in Fairytale wouldn't distinguish me as a villainess, like you...

Mr Whiskers... " I whispered subconsciously granting it a name and pet it's fuzzy black head.

And, Suddenly! The diamond-shaped white fur that had beautifully decorated the forehead of the black cat emitted an extremely bright light.

The cold atmosphere was abruptly filled with warmth and the morning fog that had thickly encapsulated the forest until then, immediately moisturised the air and made it dissolve into millions of glittering diamond dust.

It was very.. beautiful..

The air .. I looked around in wonder as my eyes glistening with admiration, .. looked as though, it was sparkling in the horizon of the sunrise.

Suddenly, sounds of people's voices and noises of carts squealing and horses thomps echoed into my ears. This could only mean one thing. There was a town near by. I looked at my dump clothes and a rotten stench errupted from my body. My stomach vibrated having not yet had my breakfast and my muscles still ached after a long midnight journey. I needed some rest. And, thankfully I found a way how.

Leaving the cat to resume it gobbling, I walked towards those commotion and peered behind a big tree that a few feet before The Great Fence, that seperated the forest from the normal civilians.

It was so, for the rare mystical animals of the forest to protected and for them to not run astray by barging into the village destroying the livelihood of the common people.

I pushed away the leaves that blocked my sight of vision. A cool breeze caught my face and revealed a peaceful atmosphere of a normal civilization after being surrounded by loneliness in both the prison and the forest and a little smile plastered my face. My cheeks flustered with delight.

I was here.

I was finally here at the Fairytale's market place.
