The town square was bustling with activity, centered around an altar soaked through with pure water.
Using a horse-drawn cart, the chubby chef transported Henry and the others, bringing them slowly to the front of the altar.
Around three in the afternoon, the old mayor checked his watch and then, with a raspy voice, cried out, "We beseech the great demon to descend upon us."
A man in a black sorcerer's robe appeared at the altar, performing a bizarre dance as if in a frenzy.
The townspeople below, with crazed looks in their eyes, muttered under their breath, echoing the sorcerer's incantations as if reciting some lyrics, expressing their devotion to the demon.
After a while, the sky grew dark, and a dreary drizzle began to fall.
Hundreds of meters above, a massive dark cloud gathered, exciting the onlookers who quickened their dance.
