The crunch of the earth beneath his feet almost felt like a song, or rather, a slow and monotonous melody accompanying each of his steps. The sky was overcast, a deep gray occasionally illuminated by a sporadic flash of lightning.
Loneliness. That's what Noah felt in that moment. If once the hope for a better world still ignited his soul, now all that remained within him was a black hole of rage and despair. Too many battles had scarred his last ten years. Too many lives had been lost for a war no human had ever wanted. When it all began, the idea of living in a world akin to a video game, seeing oneself grow stronger, their stats improve, had blinded people to what was about to happen.
Many names were given to that fateful day. Some called it "Divine Judgment," others "The Beginning of the End," and some more simply "The Day of Choice." Noah belonged to the latter group. Despite his parents giving him such a biblical name, Noah had never believed in God.
What kind of God could do all this? What joy is there in slaughtering millions of innocents?!
Noah wondered to himself. It had been months since he had seen anyone still alive so what even was the point of speaking out loud?
"...Only this stupid bunch of bones follows me now..."
Noah slightly turned his head to glance behind him. A sea of white moved, marching slowly behind their master. Hundreds, thousands of skeletons of varying sizes and species awaited a simple command from their creator, their god, the one who held dominion over life and death, who could deny eternal rest with a mere snap of his fingers.
"Status."
Noah said, disinterested, and before him appeared a blue screen, invisible to anyone else.

"I guess it's time to finish this shitty game."
Noah muttered, glancing up at the sky.
"Perfect... I can smell the rain coming..."

The rain had been pouring down incessantly for hours, yet the battle wasn't over.
How long has it been? 10, 12 hours? How the hell is that beast still not tired?!
Noah thought as he stared at his opponent. A tall man, his muscles chiseled and his long red hair reaching down his back. Two ruby-colored eyes, burning like wildfire, stood in stark contrast to the rest of his expression. There was no emotion on that face—no desire, no demands.
*Crack*
The sound of yet another bone shattering. If before Noah had been surrounded by thousands of skeletons, now he was the only one left standing.
Abandon all hope, ye who enter here.
That was the only thought that crossed Noah's mind.
His arms no longer responded. The tendons in his left forearm were exposed, his right shoulder pierced through completely. It was over. They both knew it.
"You were a worthy opponent. Human."
Brigsiel spoke with his usual empty expression.
Shut up. Don't think I haven't noticed that you're not even trying.
