Chapter 49

Elysium is a cluster of squat concrete and steel structures surrounded by a barrier tech.At the corners are towers with automated sentry guns swiveling on servo mounts.Elijah could see beyond the gun towers, the ROSE shuttle roars in across the treetops.The vectoring nozzles change angle,bringing the ship to a slow hover.The shuttle hover-taxiing across the compound.

The Crew chief stomps down the aisle explaining "Everyone Exo packs on!"

Elijah and Gabriella don their EXO-PACK breathing gear with practiced moves.The Crew chief with serious tone said"Remember both of you,don't lose your mask you're unconscious in 20 seconds and you're dead in four minutes. Let's nobody be dead today, it looks bad on my report.Now Exopack on, let's go!"

Beneath the shuttle air blasts outward for a hundred meter radius as it settles onto its landing gear.Both of them carry their duffles ready,they tense, expectant faces in breathing masks.The cargo ramp opens with a hydraulic whine.

Crew chief smiled and said"I am sure you father and mother is waiting for you both,but if you get lost go directly into the base! Do not stop! Go straight inside!"

Elijah and Gabriella who double time down the ramp. They jog across the exposed apron toward a walkway covered in CHAINLINK which leads to the complex.Inside the chain-link tunnel are a couple of Na'vi who are, approximately 10 feet tall, with smooth, striped cyan-colored skin, large eyes, and long, sweeping tails. Their bodies are more slender than humans.They were talking with each other all of them were wearing human clothing.

Elijah eyes were lit up with excitement saying"Those are Na'vi,I remember dad talking about a Project called Avatar in which the Avatar Program enabled the humans to explore the remote and hostile environment of Pandora without endangering human life. Essentially,the Avatar Program used biological human/Na'vi hybrid bodies called avatars.The "link beds" as well as customized nanotech receiver/transmitter nodes grown into avatar brains from their earliest blastomere stage of development, human "drivers" can now operate their avatars at distances of tens of kilometers."

Gabriella nodded and added, "Dad was pissed of at Dr.Cordell Lovecraft for trying ro dissect of Na'vi specimens RDA captured,when they had the tech to easily understand the biology through allt the scanning tech."

Although whole Proeject is shared by RDA and FutureTech because of Dr.Grace Augustine's involvement.

As both of them see their parent's Matt and Rosalie Swan waiting for them with smiles on their face. Gabriella went hugged her father,while Rosalie hugged her son both of them really missed their children.

Matt with a smile said"Let's go inside, then we will talk."

Gabriella and Elijah nodded as all of them went to Matt's personal quarters.Matt brought some coffee and after talking about their life.

Matt asked"So what do you think about Pandora?"

Elijah with smile said"It looks incredible,but we will have explore more."

Gabriella looked around saw many pictures with some having a copy of Dad and Mom as a Na'vi smiling stading next to what looked like the local Na'vi tribe.This noticed by Elijah as he asked"Did you call us here to be part of the Avatar Program?"

Matt smiled and nodded as he gestured them follow,Both of them followed their parents,soon they enter the BIO-LAB a large lab complex with many adjoining rooms.

Matt with smile explained"Just like you guessed,you both are here to drive these remotely controlled bodies called avatars. They're grown from human DNA mixed with DNA from the natives here."

As their Grand father Carlisle Cullen was main head of research team,Carlisle on seeing the twins,smiled and gave both a hug while saying"Good to see both of you are here."

The nearer has the sides removed, revealing a ceiling-height acrylic tank. Elijah stops to stare, and Gabriella walks past him as if drawn by some unseen force, toward the AMNIO TANK. There is a figure floating lanquidly inside, which looks like a women. A very large, very blue, women.The blood circulates through a synthetic umbilical in the abdomen. As the figure turns in the amniotic fluid, we see that it has a lemur-like tail. The skin is cyan-blue. Long black hair drifts, graceful as they could see it slightly twitching from time to time.

Elijah grinned and muttered"Damn. This is so cool."
