Chapter 49

We prepared ourselves and said our goodbyes to Mother and Miya

Waiting for the carriage to arrive and take us to the academy

As it was nearly time for class to start

The carriage had arrived and we went on it silently

I looked at Cosmo who was sitting across me with his head rested on his palm looking out the window quietly staring

I got confused since he was such a talkative person

I looked at Cythe who was sitting next to Cosmo with his arms crossed looking out the window and was also silent

I looked at Claude touching and staring down at the bracelet I tied on his wrist quietly fondling it

I kept quiet thinking that something might have happened

Since all three of them stayed quiet I did too

I looked out the window to see people walking, kids playing made me smile and enjoyed watching them

Hours past and to finally arrive at the academy luckily class hasn't started yet and seems to be the class will be starting late

We met up with Josefina who was waiting under the tree where we first talked to each other

"Ina!"

I shouted her name waving at her from afar

Reading her book sitting under the tree as she heard me calling out for her she immediately looked up and waved back at us

She stood up and walked towards while we walk towards her

After saying our hello's we then sat with her under the tree where she sat

Claude who was still quiet still staring at the bracelet while Cosmo teasing Cythe ignoring him

I git curious and asked what was happening since we've just arrived after taking our things back to the dorms

"Why was class canceled?"

I asked looking at Josefina

She then closed her book and looked at me

"It was actually about the play we're making at the Festival"

Josefina answered

"Why? what's wrong with our play?"

I asked back

"There is nothing specifically wrong about our play, but they were thinking of making the festival and school dance into one"

Josefina said smiling happily

I was stunned and smiled back

"We'll be doing our play in the school dance?'

I asked back with excitement

"What play?"

Cosmo asked looking back while he kept on teasing Cythe

I looked at him shocked

Has he forgotten?!

I asked myself

Cosmo who was still waiting for my response looking at me with confused look on his face

*Sigh*

I sighed heavily

"Look Cosmo we'll start the practice later"

I answered back

Cosmo just stared at me then looked back at Cythe and smiled teasing him again

Cythe with his book ignored Cosmo

Claude who was still quiet I didn't know what to do since just last night we were talking happily and he has been staring at the bracelet since earlier...

Even after our breaks over the three of us me, Claude and Cosmo went to class while Cythe and Josefina went with each other

Arriving to class Claude was still out of it and Cosmo who sat next to me quietly

I noticed that everytime we are left alone with Claude, Cosmo got quiet

And so I turned to look at Cosmo who was still as quiet and asked

"What's the matter?"

I asked

Cosmo looked at me and looked back infront without answering

"Cosmo!"

I whispered

*Sigh*

Cosmo sighed and looks at Claude who was quietly staring infront and looks back at me

"He's dangerous Athy..."

Cosmo said whispering to me with a serious look on his face

"What do you mean? who is dangerous?"

I asked confused still whispering to Cosmo

"..."

Cosmo without answering just stared at me quietly

I got confused and looked at him tilting my head

I noticed Cosmo moved his gaze to Claude who was quiet beside me and stared at him for a long time

I looked back to see Claude looking back at Cosmo with threatening eyes without flinching

He noticed me and smiled like nothing happened

I didn't know what to do and so I smiled back awkwardly and looked back at Cosmo who was still staring Claude

I snapped my finger taking Cosmo's attention but he wasn't listening

I shook him and finally looked at me and removed my hands on his shoulders looking at me with al seriousness

He wasn't the Cosmo I always see he was different

Why?

Why are you acting like this Cosmo?

I asked myself

"Who i-"

I was about to ask Cosmo about something when I noticed someone holding my hand

I turned to look who was it

Claude who's head is rested on his palm looking at me with a smile on his face his hand placed on mine

It's as if he's telling me not to ask....is it?

I got shivers Claude was still looking at me with a smile on his face

He was gentle and yet I kept having this feeling that he....

I shook my head trying to remove all those thoughts and smiled back at Claude

Hours passed by again and class ended

We stood up walking towards Cythe and Josefina who was waiting in front of the door to suddenly someone stopping me pulling my hand from behind

I quickly turned my head and to see Claude was the one holding my hand

"Claude?"

I asked

Claude stood there smiling holding my hand without saying anything

I stared back at Claude but held his hand back and smiled back softly

He then followed me while held hands walking out of the classroom

Both Cosmo and Cythe looked at the both of us without a smile on their faces and just stared at us

I was confused my hearts beating fast

Why?

Why is it so weird right now?

Just yesterday things were going well?

Why do I feel that something bad is going to happen if I keep on holding his...hand?

I kept on asking myself confused why that something keeps on happening

Feeling my death is nearing again and again

As I step closer to both Cosmo and Cythe I feel safe and with Claude...

I strangely feel.... scared

I looked back at Claude who was still looking at me smiling gently holding my hand softly

I asked myself

Is it really you?

Will you be the one who will end my life just like in the novel?

Will you...
