A thousand years

The rolls-royce had just arrived at Jiang Ru's company.

After getting out of the car, Jiang Ru and Ning Xue entered the building, going straight to the office. During the entire journey, there was not even an exchange of words.

{Office}

"Please have a seat, Miss Ning."

"Thank you, Mr. Jiang."

There were two large black leather sofas in the study, facing each other in the center of the room.

Jiang Ru did not immediately sit down, but rather went to a cupboard that held various wines.

One thing Jiang Ru loved was wine.

Jiang Ru opened the cabinet and took out a bottle of wine.

He then took two glasses and filled them halfway.

"Here, Miss Ning, have a drink with me."

"Thank you, Mr. Jiang, but I don't like to drink."

"I didn't ask if you liked to drink, Miss Ning."

"I told you to drink."

Jiang Ru said.

[Pfft, are you trying to act like a domineering CEO?]

[Was that your plan?]

[Intimidate her?]

[You're embarrassing yourself, host.]

'Shut up! Your useless system!'

Jiang Ru felt like an idiot. He was being mocked by a system!

A stupid and useless system!

Ning Xue had no choice but to accept the drink. After all, she still had to make up for what happened at her birthday party.

She picked up her wineglass and took a small sip.

'Bitter.'

That's what she thought.

"Mr. Jiang, what about your compensation? What do you want?"

Ning Xue went straight to the main subject.

"Well, I'm thinking about it, Miss Ning."

"While I think about it, let's have a few more drinks.'

Jiang Ru replied as he sat on the sofa facing Ning Xue.

Ning Xue reluctantly accepted.

It had been ten minutes since they started drinking, but neither of them said a word.

[First you act like a domineering CEO, then you decide to get the girl drunk.]

[What do you want to do anyway?]

'Just watch.'

[You never tell me your plans.]

'And I will continue like this.'

[Idiot!]

'Useless!'

Another warm conversation between Jiang Ru and her system in her mind.

"Miss Ning, I believe I already know what I want in compensation."

"And what would it be, Mr. Jiang?"

"I want a dance."

"A dance?"

"Yes, a dance."

If a dance could save her family from destruction, then she would have no problem accepting it.

"Okay!"

Jiang Ru smiled at the answer.

[Now I understand, host.]

[Normally, Ning Xue would deny a dance and suggest something else to avoid interaction with the

opposite sex, but she is a touch tipsy from the wine and isn't thinking clearly.]

[So that's why you wanted her to drink.]

'That's right.'

[You scoundrel! You're taking advantage of her!]

'Hey! You should be on my side! And if I don't, how do you want me to approach her?'

[Still, that was dirty, host.]

'Nonetheless, this is required for the plan to proceed.'

Jiang Ru got up from the couch and went to put on some music.

The song he put on was 'A Thousand Years – Christina Perri'.

[Have you become someone romantic now?]

Jiang Ru ignored the system's question and went to Ning Xue and extended his hand.

Ning Xue took the outstretched hand and stood up.

Ning Xue put her arms around Jiang Ru's neck as he brought her close to him, placing his hands on her waist.

Ning Xue has never approached, much less danced with, the opposite sex. The only man she ever approached in her life was her father.

They started dancing to the music.

Ning Xue thought that he would not enjoy dancing with Jiang Ru, but that proved to be wrong.

As they danced, Ning Xue flashed a beautiful smile.

She was having fun with the dance. She couldn't even remember the last time she'd had so much fun.

"You look beautiful smiling."

When she heard this from Jiang Ru's mouth, her cheeks turned redder than they were.

"Thank you."

She lowered her face after saying that.

Jiang Ru placed her hand on Ning Xue's chin and lifted her face.

"Don't be ashamed to hear the truth, Miss Ning."

"Did you know that I appreciate you very much? You are an amazing woman. Even with all the adversities that came your way, you never gave up and always persevered. Your mother would be proud of the woman you've become."

Jiang Ru spoke with a smile as he looked her in the eyes.

Ning Xue lost her mother at a very young age in romance, just ten years old.

His mother had her own cosmetics company called 'Empire Cosmetics'. After his death, his only daughter, Ning Xue, was forced to take over the company, starting her training at age ten and having to take over as soon as she turned 18.

Because of her training, she became more and more alienated from people, being left without a single friend and without people to fully trust; not even her father had her complete trust.

Lin Feng got her full trust in romance, but that wouldn't be repeated here.

Ning Xue's eyes filled with tears at Jiang Ru's words.

Jiang Ru wiped her tears with her thumbs.

"You will no longer be alone, ever again. I will be here for you from now on."

Their faces were getting closer, until their lips touched.
